I own a 02 Tundra V8 ,4 7 . I purchased it in 07 for 18 K with 45 k miles . From a very dependable used car dealer . Its my daily driver with currently 224 k miles . Best vehicle I ever owned . limited edition ,same color as yours . Best of luck with yours . Thx for video .
Wow that's awesome! They really are great trucks, thanks for watching!
That’s the great thing about the tundra, it’s simple, but you can make it significant! 👌🏻 keep the tundra alive bro 🤙🏻🔥
Heck yeah man! I think there's so much potential in these trucks - and way beyond what I would ever do to mine! Thanks for watching! - Sal
Love your stuff, binge watching your stuff now!!! Keep up great work
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching - Sal
Nice truck. I bought a 05 access cab a couple years ago. Another good upgrade is a skid row skid plate. Makes it so you don't have to remove the skid plate to change the oil. Plus it's 3x thicker than the stock skid plate.
Huh that sounds like something I’m going to look into. Thanks for the tip! - Sal
Hey man, just got a first gen Tundra and have been looking for a good channel with some insight.
I appreciate your work here and view it as a big service.
Thanks!
That's great to hear, congrats on the truck! Thanks for checking out the channel - Sal
I love 1st gen Toyota Tundras. Simple old school QUALITY 😊
Yup, I agree. Love my truck! Thanks for watching - Sal
You picked the greatest truck in the world. You will be happy with it. I have the 2007 Toyota Tundra Crew Max with the 5.7 V8. This is the first year of the 5.7 and it’s been a great truck. I only have 107,000 miles on it. Have done very little things to it. I looked at the 2000 Toyota Tundra new in 2000. They were about 23,000 for what I wanted but that was to far out of my budget. You won’t lose anything in your truck. I think the value will hold up. I wish you the best. 👍
Thank you! Ive been loving it 👍🏼 - Sal
Absolutely love this truck, looks perfect! The lift/tire combo is exactly what i'm looking for. Been in LC/LX for years, looking to get the Tundra next, love the videos!
Ah cool, I'm a big fan of the LC/LX platform and these have so many similarities so I think things would feel familiar. Thanks for watching!
@@JDMDrivewayyes the lift & tire combo is spot on. Do you have a video breaking down the specifics?
18:46, yeah! I have a Gen 1 Tundra and the Borla exhaust is 🔥🔥
Oh nice! An exhaust is still high on the list for truck mods, and I’ll definitely check out borla. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Nice videos bro appreciate the time on this one, I just got a 01 tundra 4.7
Glad to hear it, congrats on the new truck! Thanks for watching!
Great job on the truck. Very impressive. I drive a 2014 Tundra. I traded in my 2005 Tundra SR5 Off Road on it. I still miss that truck. Again, awesome job on your truck.
Thank you Dave, it’s always nice to hear when people stay in the Toyota family after upgrading from their First Gen. Thank you for watching! - Sal
Hey Sal! I fell down a FGT rabbit hole, and luckily found you! I had full intentions to make my self learn everything by doing. It being my daily and a requirement for my job messing up and not have a ride to work makes it harder to commit to things on my own. That being said I’m not much of a mechanic, I am lucky enough to go to one that lets me be apart of maintenance/ upgrades so I do learn along the way! You have inspired me to want to do a channel on my 06 DC, on my upgrades and experiences! Thank you and I look forward to binging all of your content haha
That’s great to hear Alejandro, it’s been such a fun and rewarding experience to record content and see it help other people. Let me know if you start a channel! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos tho, thanks for watching! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway I will let you know! Thanks for responding!
I’m super happy with my tundra! I bought it with a camper shell for around $14 k from a dealer. It’s in pretty good shape and I love it! Have been slowly working on piddly things on it but there is some bigger stuff I plan to replace this year when I get the chance. I just know I wouldn’t have loved my truck as much as I do if it didn’t have the camper shell.
Awesome! Thanks for watching - Sal
Great video. I'm going to follow your lead in maintaining my Tundra.
Awesome! Thanks for watching Ken! - Sal
hey! I've started watching your videos, I'm from Mexico and I have a 2003 toyota tundra and those trucks are the best!
I agree, I love my truck! Thanks for watching! - Sal
Nice truck appreciate the detail especially the wheel/ tire/ lift combo been trying to track down what I want to upgrade to and you sold me on the 265/75 instead of 285/75 on 16’s with my Bilstein 5100’s set at 1” lift up front.
For the USB mount on my 2000 I used the lower 12v outlet with an Amazon usb/ aux adapter by the brand of “BATIGE” the usb and aux both plug into the rear of my double din and it’s clean and subtle
Whoa! Thank you so much for that outlet recommendation, I didn't know something like that existed. I just ordered one and I'll make a video throwing it in the truck. Its basically exactly what I was looking for! haha
But yeah I was really torn on going up to 285/75, but I'm really happy I went with 265/75. I think it's a good size for a moderate lift/level. This other video goes into a little more detail on my wheel/tire setup with some other angles to see the sizing better - ua-cam.com/video/gD2DY-Zu448/v-deo.html Glad the video was helpful though, and thanks again for the recommendation! - Sal
About to take my 2000 down and do the timing belt, checked it by popping the cover and holy cow! I'm so lucky it didn't break already!! 320k on the OD and she's cracked all over! got her in the garage now! Love this truck too much to send her down the road.
Dang! That's certainly a lucky catch, its nice that you can just sorta peek at it easily from the engine bay! Hope the replacement goes smoothly, and thanks for watching! - Sal
Awesome video Sir! I too have a 2002 Tundra, very informative.
Great! Thanks for watching - Sal
I loved your video dude I have a 2001 Tundra 260K on it still riding strong
Awesome! I love to see how many miles some of you guys have on yours, hoping to drive mine for a while too! Thanks for watching! - Sal
The 1A Auto timing belt video is very good, I followed it as well. They've got a couple of other great Tundra videos.
Yeah their timing belt videos are the only reason I felt comfortable doing it myself 😂 thanks for watching! - Sal
Bought my 2003 with 173K miles in 2021. Timing belt had been done at 106K so I should be good for a while. Only issues were the failure of both sway bar end links and the one on the right ripped through the axle boot. Replaced right axle and both end links, fairly simple. My house is at top of steep 4WD road so when end links broke quick replacement was advisable.
Love this truck!
Gotcha, I'm planning to swap one of my front axles and some other parts in the front suspension soon. I'm deep in the "while I'm in there" rabbit hole lol. Thanks for watching!
2000 SR5, 326,000! And I have defiantly put her through the paces! Still going strong!
Wow! Awesome to hear about people with that many miles on their trucks! Thanks for watching - Sal
Nice truck. One of the best ever built IMO.
I bought my 2004 Tundra AC Limited TRD Offroad new from my local toyota dealer and still have it. It just rolled over 74K miles so still relatively low mileage for a truck that turns 18 this year. I've been toying with the idea of putting a set of dual exhaust on it for the past few years but the current exhaust is in mint condition (stainless front to back) so just haven't done it yet.
Looking forward to what you do next.
Wow sounds like you’ve got a great truck there, I feel like it’s rare for these to still be 1 owner after ~20 years. I’d love to do an exhaust, but I’m in the same situation where there’s nothing wrong with mine right now 😂 thanks for watching! - Sal
You should invest in true dual exhaust! I have a 2002 with 92k I had 2-1/2 cat back with 2- magna flow mufflers turned 45 degrees behind the rear wheels. It sounds awesome no drone when driving and not really loud. Gas mileage went from 15 to 17 per on combined city and Hyw.
Nice video and great truck. BTW my brother just got a 2001 TRD Tundra in Hunter Green, looks amazing, the seatbelts were gross. He removed them and pressure cleaned them and they look NEW!
Oh that's a good idea, I had seen some people soak them in a bucket with some soap, but pressure washing may be an even better option. I'm planning to do a video about it soon, thanks for checking this one out!
just bought one of these and im looking forward to looking through your channel to help me fix it haha
For sure dude! Congrats on the new truck! Thanks for watching- Sal
Make sure you replace your Lower Ball Joints with OEM Toyota Lower Ball Joints!
I highly recommend! Big Achilles Heel for these trucks! Save you some trouble!
Hey Carlos, I have a set of OEM LBJs in the garage and plan to install them at some point. I have tried installing them already and couldn’t get the outer tie rod out so I gave up haha I need to get some better pullers and then try it again. Don’t want to end up broken down somewhere. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Great video. Subbed. Thanks for detailed clear explanations. And very good edits! I was born in Providence. Of course 66 years ago
Awesome, always cool to hear from another Rhode Islander! Thanks for watching!
LOVE my '02 Tundra (2wd). Just installed Hellwig sway bars front and rear (with heavy duty endlinks on the front) BIG brake kit ('23 4runner calipers and rotors) and Bilstein 6112s are are their way to replace the basic Bilstein 4600s. With just the sway bars it handles like its on rails, so I can only imagine what it's going to be with the 6112s. And depending on how the rear feels after new shocks I might add airbags or an add a leaf. It's a undercover sport truck now...😎
Wow it sounds like you've got quite the rig haha that big brake kit sounds interesting, did it bolt up pretty easily or did you need to do a lot of modification? Thanks for watching!
Nice new floor mats I’m gonna start looking for new ones now
Thank you! I felt very lucky to find them locally on FB Marketplace. The weathertech ones are very nice, and useful for daily driving, but I don't think you can beat the tundra logo on the OEM ones - its just cool haha
I have the same tires, I have used them for years. I tried the duratrac, k02, etc etc etc and the authority has WAY more grip, they last longer, tow better. I have been through mud, sand, snow, ice, clay, swamps, you name it and never had an issue.
That’s great to hear, I’ve been enjoying them so far. Only downside I’ve seen is how noisy they are on the street, but not a big deal to me. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Stunning beast truck
Gotta love these trucks! Thanks for watching - Sal
For wiring your Apple Carplay, take your ashtray out, and run the wire from within the console, down through the top where the ashtray was located and pull as much slack as you want through there. You'll be re-inserting the ashtray, so be careful to not pinch the wire. On the metal latch/release of the ashtray, there should be a hole, just run cable you've pulled through back into that and then test to ensure that the ashtray can close properly. That's what I did for my aux cable for the longest time, and it gives you a place to put your wire when you're not using it.
Thanks for the idea! I'm sure that does a good job of keeping the wiring out of sight. I just installed a male to female USB port that sits in one of the 12V outlets which helped clean up the wiring a bit. I might like your idea a little better because it sounds like there's even less wiring showing - Sal
@@JDMDriveway You bet, man! 1st Gens are awesome. I've been meaning to document more on mine. Nothing online currently.
I have the same truck only a 2000. Same color and everything. Mine was also resprayed at some point. Let the seat belt soak in a bucket of soapy water then just let it dry. It will work like new. Also be careful with the gear shifter. They are notorious for breaking. Also if you haven't done your control arms yet they're a real treat LOL
Thanks for the tips! I actually already cleaned my seatbelts in a newer video and they work like a charm now. I am always worried about my gear selector because it does feel very flimsy. I haven’t done the control arms yet, and I hope they aren’t on the to-do list for a little while 😂 - Sal
I like that third brake light. I’m gonna get one. I have a 2002 as well. I’m just finishing up headers and exhaust. Hopefully it will increase the fun factor.
Nice! I think I have a cracked header on my truck so it’s very tempting to do a long-tube header upgrade. I’m sure it will sound great 👍🏼 thanks for watching! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway yes it will along with true dual exhaust!
2016 when I got my 2000 access SR5 189,000 v8. $6,500 nothin wrong for 4 yrs. 1st thing was coils. only ever done 2 coils an radiator..now due for lot. time belt water pump, starter etc.now just over 282,000 definitely a quality reliable truck. love them.
I've gotta do the radiator coming up soon. I've got a new OEM one sitting around, I just haven't gotten myself to do it yet
This is a great truck. I still have my 95 Celica with 300k miles now and I'm surprised how well the seat belt still pulls back hard compared to our RX300 and Sienna. Thinking about getting this or a 2nd gen 4Runner
That’s awesome, I think those older Celicas are under appreciated. I’d love to get a GT-four imported from Japan one day. I do love these first gen tundras, but a second gen 4runner could be a good option too. Kinda depends on how much interior space you want, these access cab trucks don’t offer a ton of space. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Go with a bak-flip hard tonneau, my 02 tundra had that when I bought it, love it, 4 sections, and lock the tailgate for a massive trunk.
I was definitely looking into that, they seem like one of the best tonneau cover options. Thanks for watching! - Sal
i’m also updating my ‘02 tundra, limited, 77k mi. replaced the head unit, back up camera, weather tech mats, led headlights, led in all the interior lights. getting windows tinted, tomorrow. also, started de-chroming the front grill. i have the same usb cable issue. not high on the list but want a better solution, too.
need to replace the knock sensor that’s located under the intake manifold so, i’ll be doing what you did for the starter.
thanks for the ideas. look forward to your next mod.
That’s awesome, sounds like you’ve got a great truck on your hands, super low miles! Thanks for watching - Sal
these keep their value for sure. I think I paid about going rate for mine but I'd hope to get a better deal.
in 2017, I bought 2005, 2wd, (not limited), body great shape, one owner, 130k for $9,500. -still higher than I wanted but been great truck.
My 2000 tundra 4.7L V8 still running strong with 298300 miles on the odo!! Only thing I've done is the rear differential seals and brakes and a new timing belt and both top and bottoms ball joints cause they are notorious for failing!!
Yup that sounds about right! If you cover the basics, the truck is super reliable! Thanks for watching - Sal
hey thanks for makin this vid. I own same truck. just 2000. an soMetimes info nice to have before certain things.
Of course, thanks for watching! - Sal
The truck is so plain looking i love the fact it just a great truck
I agree, compared to modern trucks the styling is very basic. I do really like this truck though! Thanks for watching - Sal
Cool truck man! I'm looking at getting one to compliment my is300
Yeah I've been really enjoying my time with it. Hasn't given me too many problems and it's pretty capable! Thanks for watching - Sal
❤ I'm always looking to see what other 1st generation Tundra owners are or have experienced.
The starter issue bothers me now that I'm on a fixed income in retirement and unfortunately not able to work as planned due to my health currently.
My 2003 (purchassed November 2020) basic SR5, 4.7L has 166K presently and it is not my daily (retired so I don't drive daily) as I have a Chrysler 200 money pit that is a 4 cylinder gas sipper for trips to town, 20 miles distant.
I've had the timing belt done right after I took it home from the used vehicle dealer. I went to a Toyota dealer for some warranty work (radiator, ps rack) and so I felt then I had the means financially to have it done there.
I also installed air bags for the rear as I do carry stuff under my used 'Workmate' 3 access door cap. Also I occasionally tow a small cargo trailer stuffed with a sundry of things, sort of a mobile shed.
Monroe struts were recently installed as well. Rear shocks could be original as far as I know.
Lastly a rear view camera install was done, with help from my friend, to assist with getting hitched to the trailer.
Oh yeah, of course I mounted a frame receiver to my 'Pho-Eff-150-Baked Alaska'*
*A freind mentioned how this gen does have F150 styling before I had even noticed the similarity and as a Toyota Tundra in the desert for 20+ years sans a garage has lost its clear coating, she's baked to the skin😮.
So there is my story with one caveat left; I ❤ this truck!
p.s. rear window latch did fail, I just keep it shut for now.
Edit: Thank you for your story, much appreciated 😊
Awesome, i appreciate all the info. Thanks for watching!
Good work. That’s how you learn. It’s a Toyota, can’t go wrong. 429k on my 2001 Tacoma.
Yup, I am on the Toyota bandwagon now! lol that's some crazy mileage on the Tacoma though, almost at half a million!
Hey love the video I have the radio in my cart from your description silly question did you need to purchase a wiring harness?
You don't need to, but it will require modification of the factory wiring. I would recommend using a wiring harness from crutchfield so that you can preserve the factory wiring. Hope this helps, thanks for watching
www.crutchfield.com/p_120701761/Metra-70-1761-Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html
I’ve used sand paper to sand down the seat belt holder to give less friction.
I’ve heard of doing that before, and this weekend I’m gonna try to get them working well again. Thanks for the advice! - Sal
Tundras are awesome cars ! My 2000 tundra just hit 330k miles
Awesome! Love hearing about those high mileage trucks! Thanks for watching - Sal
Great info man, thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching - Sal
Love your videos and I love the Tundra!
Just curious, do you know how many previous owners the Tundra had? I’m hoping to buy a Tundra but get a little worried when I see quite a few previous owners…
That's a good point, I think there were 3 previous owners but because I bought it from a used car dealer, I don't really know how well it was maintained. I'd say it's pretty hard to screw up these trucks, so I wouldn't really be too worried about multiple owners. Thanks for watching
The hvac controls use shift cables. Very expensive if they fail.theres also an amplifier in the dash that runs the door speakers. And outside air temp is on the rear view mirror. And my 03 has a fog light indicator some came with them from the factory. Maybe your fog lights are aftermarket. I can make a video of options that came on my tundra and what i have modified since iv owned it.
Gotcha, thanks for all the info!
I got my 05 Tundra SR5 for 8500 dollars. It only had 130k and it was really clean
I had the same seatbelt issue not going back up. I know what you mean about the floormats. I love having the OEM once but I don't dare to put my workboots on it lol. If you're thinking of doing an exhaust, I have one of those cutouts on my Tundra. You can open and close it. Just make sure you put it behind the cats + have a good smog guy
Im so glad I got the weathertechs to save my carpet. And I haven't looked into any cutouts but that could be a cool option. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Great video. I have an '01 Tundra that my grandfather gave me and it's only at 109K miles. I'm looking for a 2WD to 4WD conversion. I'd happily pay someone to do it. But great channel!
That would be cool to see, I’m curious how difficult/involved that conversion would be. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Sell it buy a 4wd.. sorry to break it to you lol
Were you able to fix the problem with the seatbelts? Also I’m glad I found this channel! Your videos are awesome!
Yep! I found that the quickest and most effective way was to remove them and pressure wash them. Soaking them in soapy water helped too. Thanks for watching! - Sal
ua-cam.com/video/oR7Iyx_GB8w/v-deo.html
Isn’t that crazy how much you can do with UA-cam ?! I’ve don’t so much from watching UA-cam videos. I remember one time my car was stuck in park and I disassembled my center console and took out the shifting columns to change one 12 dollar part. Getting. It done would’ve been like a 1000 bucks cause of labor
I 100% agree! I have "youtubed" so many things that have saved me thousands of dollars in labor. Plus I enjoy doing things myself! So that's what I'm trying to do here on this channel is help out other people trying to do things I've already struggled through! Haha thanks for watching - Sal
Great video! Can you link the window clips, head unit, the headlights and the projectors you did? Our trucks have identical issues. I have the '04.
Of course! Sorry they weren't linked earlier, but here are the rear window arms and head unit.

I've got a 2000 w 314,250 K . Keep on Trucking
That's the plan! Thanks for watching - Sal
Great video and I’m a new follower. I found a 2003 Tundra access cab with 87k miles. I want to buy this truck and it’s nice to hear real world owners talking about their experiences. The timing belt and water pump was just replaced. The truck is owned by a 60 year old gentleman that just bought a new Tundra. He’s asking 9500. I think after watching some of your videos…I really want the Tundra. Keep up the great work. Did you replace the upper and lower ball joints and radiator. What about your frame…was it ever replaced?
Hey Brian, I think that price for a truck with that low of miles is very reasonable. The lower ball joints on my truck are fairly new, but on the list to replace and I have not planned to replace the upper ball joints. I bought a replacement radiator and plan to do that as preventative maintenance this spring/summer. Luckily my truck has spent its whole life in FL so the frame is almost spotless and has not needed to be replaced. Thanks for watching - Sal
Clean truck btw bro, been looking at older tacos, tundras, and 4Runners since new ones cost how much I make in a year LOL!
Yup, these new truck prices are insane. But my 20 year old truck still gets me wherever I need, and with a V8 too! haha thanks for watching! - Sal
avoud raptor lights. go with light bar or some other option.
an yes keep the underneath clean/coated.
Yeah I decided against the raptor lights, still considering a light bar but I'm not sold on that yet
what kind of mpg do you get with the bigger tires? /did it make much of a noticeable difference? I was thinking about leveling and upsizing, but was curious about that. nice video! i've had some similar issues to fix
I was getting around 17 on my stock setup, and now I am getting around 15 with the larger tires. Not a very noticeable difference in everyday driving, just a lot louder (but that may be specific to my Goodyear Authority tires). I made a video going more in depth on the wheel/tire setup here with a lot more info - ua-cam.com/video/gD2DY-Zu448/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching! - Sal
Nice video man, if you wouldn’t mind me asking where’d you get the front skid plate? Do you have a link?
That's an OEM skid plate and it came with the truck. I'm not sure you can buy them from Toyota anymore, but I would try a local junkyard/pick-and-pull to get one super cheap. I've heard good things about SKID ROW skid plates, so you may want to look into that as an option as well. Thanks for watching! - Sal

2002 Toyota tundra 265000 Miles on it still going strong 😊
Love to hear it! Thanks for watching!
Rebuild that front end once you hit 200k. Not sure if you have or not. Ball joints, tie rods, bushings etc. good trucks. Mine looks similar.
Thanks for the advice, I was hoping to thoroughly go through all the bushings and arms soon. Doesn’t feel unsafe now, but I think it would feel awesome to have it all fresh under there 👍🏼 thanks for watching! - Sal
neighbor sold me his 2003 tundra with almost 300k miles, i have a issues with fuel gage and that’s it it’s a amazing truck
That’s great man, just getting broken in 😂 gotta love these trucks! Thanks for watching - Sal
@@JDMDriveway love the content, by the way my seatbelts do the same exact thing yours do, really annoying
Yeah that’s annoying, I made a video where I tried fixing them by soaking or pressure washing them and they got a lot better. And I’ve heard you can buy this grease spray that’s supposed to help them even more
I have an 02 tundra as well that I paid 5k for with 213k miles. Thought i was buying a good truck however a few issues have come about. Namely being rust. I now have replaced the bed with one with much less rust. These trucks are beasts but nothing stops rust.
Dang, that’s too bad about the rust. I was lucky to buy my truck down in FL where the truck spent it’s whole life so rust has not been an issue for me. Glad you were able to find a new bed to replace your old one though! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway Yeah it unfortunately is the same color of yours but my cab is silver. Crackhead truck vibes
😂😂
Good info man! Any planned mods for the tundra?
Thanks! Biggest things on the list are an exhaust and a camper shell. I’d also love to upgrade my suspension to some Bilstein 5100 shocks but I don’t do any off-roading yet so I can’t justify that cost. Other than that, mostly maintenance things to keep it on the road as long as possible. I’ll document it all here! Thanks for watching - Sal
Awesome Video! I’m interested in the Atoto unit, did you have any issues with it, fitment, etc.. how’s it holding up?
Hey, glad you liked the video! So far I’m liking the atoto unit overall. It fits really well in the cutout and looks good too - no flashy leds or anything. If I remember correctly, only 2 of the 3 mounting screws for the bracket lined up on either side but I haven’t had any problems with fitment or rattling. The wired Apple CarPlay was a little funky at first but I’ve heard that’s kinda expected for car play on any head unit, not just this one. It would just disconnect randomly, but once I plugged back in, it worked fine. It’s been a lot better lately though. The mic for the Bluetooth calling is bigger than I was expecting and my family said it sounded kinda muffled when I called them so I ditched it and just use speaker mode on my phone lol other than that, I like the head unit though - I think it’s a good budget way of getting car play/android auto. Wireless would be more convenient of course, but in my case it wasn’t worth the extra couple hundred bucks. Hope this helps!
@@JDMDriveway I appreciate the feed back!! That definitely helps me out. Thank you !
Hey! Love your idea but my trd 2003 is a tank
A lift is a hard step into
Yeah, the leveling kit definitely isn't for everyone but I'm loving it!
Picked mine up for 1800 300,000 mi runs shifts great need to do 02 sensors have em on the way and someone has 225/70/16 tires on it smh can't make it up
That’s a good deal, pretty funny someone had those tires on it though. Narrowest I’ve seen most people run is 255 😂 thanks for watching - Sal
How did you replace the back window connectors? How do you recommend getting the pins out? Can they be removed from the windows? Thanks in advance! 😄
Joe, I followed this video on UA-cam and everything went pretty smoothly. I think I just tapped the pins with a small screwdriver or something and they came out pretty easy! - Sal

Hey Sal, just bought a 2002 total stock, I want to level front end and get tires and wheels same as on your truck. Can you help with amount of lift and tire and wheel size and brand??
For sure! I did a detailed video about all the specs linked here, but basic run down is a 2" leveling spacer, 16x8 +0 wheels and 265/75r16 tires. Congrats on the new truck, and thanks for watching!

Nice truck! You can get a cover on Amazon for 200 bucks!
Thank you, and yeah I've definitely considered those but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'll update the channel if I decide to get one! Thanks for watching - Sal
how did you plug your phone into the stereo? Does it have a USB port in the unit?
It does have a USB input in the back, and I added an extension that runs down to the cigarette lighter. I have since upgraded to a wireless head unit, but the video of the usb extension is here. Thanks for watching!

What brand fender flares do you have? They look great
Thank you! They are factory as far as I know. It seems like there were a couple factory options of fenders for these trucks and I just lucked out finding a truck with this type! Lol thanks for watching! - Sal
Hey, man, I really like your tundra, do you know where I can find one?
I'd keep a close eye on Facebook marketplace. You can find some good deals on there! Thanks for watching
Not sure if your aware of the 2003 Toyota Tundra T3. Special edition. Not many left out there.
I've heard of them, but haven't seen one in person. Definitely a cool tidbit for sure. Thanks for watching - Sal
Did the 1st gen tundra ever come with e-locker like tacomas?
The V6 option had a manual transfer case but almost all of the V8 tundras with 4WD came with an electronic 4HI and 4LO button. Don't think the diffs were electronically locking tho. Thanks for watching - Sal
Nice video. I wonder if the smog pump has been replaced.
Thank you, and I honestly have no idea. Is there an easy way to tell? - Sal
Not really, but coincidently it under the freaking intake. 🤦♂️ Extremely expensive. Hopefully yours has been replaced. When they go you’ll get a cel and a sucking noise. From the engine. Luckily there is a bypass kit out there.
Hmm ok I’ll look into that, thanks for the heads up 👍🏼
Got my 2002 it has 308k and runs like new .
Love hearing stories like that! lol I plan to drive mine forever 👍🏼 Thanks for watching! - Sal
When you do your CV axles you have to do death drop if you don't it'll just keep tearing through CV axles and Boots I'm going to the same problem right now with my 2003 tundra
Dang, yeah it’s on the list of things to do lol I bought a high angle cv axle from rock auto so hopefully that should help too. I’ll have a video up when I eventually get to doing the axles. Thanks for watching - Sal
And I meant diff drop not death drop lol my bad 😂
Hahaha I figured 😂
Could’ve cleaned the O2 sensor with rubbing alcohol more than likely would’ve took care of the problem LOL I have a 2006 crew cab
Ah dang, maybe if I get another check engine light for them I’ll give it a shot haha Thanks for the tip! - Sal
I bet the exhaust will cost you just as much MPG drop as the tires due to a more impulsive right foot. haha
Waaay too many of those Raptor style lights on trucks IMO.
Lol you're not wrong. I put an exhaust on about a month ago and the first couple tanks of gas went by very quickly 😂 and yeah, I decided against the raptor lights. It's a bit overdone and not really my style.
Is the timing Top Dead Center or Center off?
I'm not sure what this is referring to, I set the timing to TDC when replacing the timing belt though. Thanks for watching
In the future when you want to transport big items..just rent a trailer attach it to your truck and it's a lot easier..I only put things I can load by myself in the truck bed
I appreciate that, I’m moving soon and I will probably rent a trailer to tow all my stuff. - Sal
RI only allows the very first level of tint which is almost nothing. I had to remove tint from my car when moving there kinda sucked.
Yup, I'm actually from RI and I had to remove tint from one of my previous cars that I bought out of state. It's pretty nice having the truck registered in FL now, they don't care what tint you do 😂 thanks for watching!
@@JDMDriveway I hear Florida lets you even tint windshield! now that's wild! not sure if its my cup of tea. But goes to show what you mean about Florida vs tint. Good stuff by the way everything you mentioned! This truck has a special charm to it for sure.
Yeah it's pretty wild down there lol it's not quite my cup of tea either. I appreciate you watching!
I would like for a manufacturer to go back to that size of a truck with a small v8.. it will be dope but biggger is better in Mericas eyes..
Oh I totally agree man! I love having a truck the size of a modern Tacoma with a V8 in it. And I think a modern one would probably sell pretty well among enthusiasts too. Unfortunately, I think V8’s days are numbered with stricter EPA regulations and stuff. Thanks for watching! - Sal
I just got a 02 tundra limited access cab for 10,600 with 140,xxx original
Nice, congrats!
if you have an ELVATTD tundra fob (or toyota in general) check out the only video in my channel for how to pair/program it with the key sequencing.
Thanks for that! Just checked out your video and it’s super helpful. Thanks for watching! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway Always a pleasure watching vids on first gen tundras, thinking of posting more myself. Thx
Great video and nice work! Can you post brand or link to third brake light? Hope to add one to my 05 reg cab. I must be searching wrong.
Of course! I bought mine on Ebay and I've been happy with it so far, no issues at all. www.ebay.com/itm/311331093591 Thanks for watching! - Sal
Tint the front windows 20% and the front windshield 50% and get a muffler delete you’ll love it!
I actually recently bought a new exhaust and should be putting it on today or tomorrow, not a full muffler delete, but hopefully it sounds a bit better. As far as window tint, I'm not a huge tint person, but I'm definitely still considering tinting the fronts a bit. Thanks for watching! - Sal
Could you link the forum to this comment for the key fob forum if you respond please thanks.
Hey Chad, sorry I didn't have it linked in the description. I just found it though, and it's linked below. Post #101 has some good info and then #117 and #118 were helpful too if you scroll down. I plan to make a video on how to do it soon as well to help more people out. Thanks for watching! - Sal

Hey man I have a 02 tundra access cab in that same color......I like the videos you've done keep it up maybe we can help each other build these trucks together
Yeah man for sure! I'm hoping to keep making useful/relatable tundra content and I'm always open to suggestions for what you guys have done too! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway do have one question are the wheels factory spec? Or did you go wider? I heard you said 16x8 with 0 offset , cause I'm looking for wheels myself
I made this video where I go in depth on the specs of the wheels/tires and how they compare to stock. Haven't had any issues with rubbing or anything ua-cam.com/video/gD2DY-Zu448/v-deo.html
@@JDMDriveway alright I'll check it out after work. Thanks man
Such a handsome guy!
Thanks for watching - Sal
No tengo tundra pero quisiera comprar una como la tuya así de equilibrada sin exageraciones y sería un lujo tener esta truck
They're great trucks! Definitely buy one when you get a chance! Thanks for watching
Hey man! Does those tires rub at all?
Nope, not at all! I’ve got this other video with some more detailed specs on the setup too, thanks for watching! - Sal

@@JDMDriveway thanks bruh
Lol you’re right about dealers being sketchy
Yup, I try to avoid them as much as I can. Being in a pinch doesn't help with that unfortunately - Sal
Fun fact. Toyota Tundra didn’t make a key fab on the key until 2018.
Wow, that's crazy. But I guess they've never been on the cutting edge of innovation lol thanks for watching - Sal
There’s an 03 tundra with 176k, owner wants 11.5, should I take it? It seems fair.
I’d say it’s reasonable in today’s market, but I’d check the condition of a few things first like the frame and timing belt. You can remove the timing belt covers with a 10mm socket very easily from under the hood and get a good look at if the belt looks old or not. I’d just say for that price the t-belt should be fairly new and the frame shouldn’t have any rust. Just my 2 cents, best of luck if you decide to buy it! - Sal
@@JDMDriveway thanks for the input brother.
Check for frame rust!
I got mine for 4500 182000 miles limited in 2020.
What a steal, these trucks are awesome. Thanks for watching! - Sal
I got a 2002 from my sister in law for 5k it had 74k on it with the 4.7 liter! Everything works just had an exhaust leak
