RAW: POV Skimboarding a Wedge with World Champions Austin Keen, Bill Bryan, Paulo Prietto

- Blair Conklin chases after professional skimboarders and world champions Austin Keen, Bill Bryan, and Paulo Prietto with a GoPro in his grill. When all the conditions align for a rare side wave at Aliso Beach, Skimboarders are the first to jump on it. This unique perspective should offer you some insight in to the cast of characters the skimboarding community offers.

A majority of the video was shot using a GoPro 8 with image stabilizer.
Probably the best POV skim footy I've seen yet! Kinda gives you an idea of what it's like to skim like Blair.
Thanks Dustin! I think only a skimboarder can appreciate this kind of footage. Seems pretty hard for the average person to comprehend what is going on haha

These POV videos really help those of us still learning: seeing what you see in regards to running out, timing your run in relation to the waves breaking, when to drop, etc is extremely insightful. Thanks Blair!

Yes! These POV shots are excellent, and the kids are getting some great role modeling -- in and out of the water. I bet their abilities skyrocketed after this session.

Wish i could make them cheaper for you but the materials they are made from are expensive and what makes the board so much better than anything else out there

Brandon Dalton i got my blairacuda for around £500 which is around $600, completely worth it though, they are so much fun no matter how skilled you are
$600 is cheap, my Jackson Guitar is $1700. Have you seen how much surfboards cost? If it’s your hobby you find a way to buy it. Like the next guitar I will get is Deans Vengeance for around $1800 and I’m not a rich guy. I just don’t go throw my money away on other hobbies, like video games or going out to eat. People these days throw their money on video games, clothes, shoes, going out to eat weekly when you should go out to eat maybe once a month, I buy clothes or a pair of shoes every 3-4 years, my wife thinks that I’m crazy for not spending my money on clothes, I tell her you think I’m a chick and find fashion as a hobby? I say pick your hobby and devout your money and time only on that hobby and the rest use it to buy stocks, pay bills and save.
I love how Blair constantly encourages and stokes everyone out on the beach! Hands down one of the most humble human beings! Keep up the great work! ps hope your bag of gopros were returned to you haha

One day I will become this good. Just started skim boarding and I love it! It give me something fun to do while I’m at the beach this summer. And someday I’ll be riding the waves like an absolute boss. But for right now I must continue to fall on my face and practice as much as I can

I’ve been practicing skim boarding because of you, do you have any tips on skim boarding that is important? I got a zap skim board for a gift and I tried it and it’s amazing balancing is hard but with practice it starts getting easy

Why is the beach always sorta empty when you guys go to catch the waves and stuff like my local beach or the closest beach to me is always packed I feel like if I did try skim boarding I would feel too nervous cause I feel like my board would hit someone close by me if I slip out or eat the sand

Yo man, I've just bought a skim board, but it has no grip on it. And I think 20" Is a bit small for me. Although I need to practise, I don't think this board can handle me. I'm 1meter 80ish.
