  • Yep, I payed for this one too. Waited until his February round-up if a video was planned on being uploaded, doing it myself. Pulled from his request live stream
Thanks for the honest review! I get that some EDM can just boil down to becoming mixes of walls of noise, and not for everyone. Glad you liked the trance tracks and endured through their lengths. The latter half of this album as you can see with the total listens is where the fans lie. Gamey sounding dubstep / brostep. Albums are more for individual songs to be plucled out rather than a full comprehensive listen. That genre when executed well is great, but even fans of that type of sound really do dislike low quality interpretations of it, been memed on for 15 years and counting. Some stuff can be actually annoying and almost unlistenable with low production quality. I'll conceive that. Anyhow hope people will listen to some more stuff from the east than what is currently based through mainly western and european artists!

Yeah, going into Camellia expecting one genre is always fatal to your enjoyment, unless you’ve listened to a lot of his stuff before. I think the intro summed up pretty well how he really is in his own genre.
As for the clashing between different songs in the album, this is one of the tamer examples of such when compared to his later works like UUFO (2021) and Ashed Wings (2023). Really not for everyone, but some like myself love the lack of rigidity contained in his music.

Ngl, this is one of his weaker albums (same goes for, i.m.o., diffraction, ngl), THIS DOES NOT imply me saying that all the songs are bad, as a matter of fact, I'd listen to all of them on repeat BUT only if they were to be in a playlist with tracks that matches their intensity/atmosphere. For example:
    - Light It Up, Crystallise, Nuclear-Star and Liquated would work very well with, for example, "Exit this earth's atomosphere" and most of the tracks from the album "Heart of Android"
-The first town of this journey would go very well with "Hello to the your first video game" and "Together Forever, My Lovely Lovely Video Game Cartridges"
    - The rest of the album can just be one playlist, maybe added with, for example, "Literal Crystal in the Cyphisonia", "Dream Transfer" and "Feel My Conscious"

meanwhile me thinking this is his best album, because all other albums is literally too much to the point it's already not sounds melodical (not every single track from his other albums but majority of them)

    • @S4YV1EE

@@CamelliaFlingert so by this logic, "Dreamless wanderer" and "Heart of Android" are also one of your favorite albums from him... or not, idk I'm just guessing
Ps: about how chaotic his music is most of the times and it not being as enjoyable to listen to is understandable, I just got used to it after time :p

@@S4YV1EE well, this is close to the truth i guess (about albums), you can say it that way, and as i said i like some of his extreme tracks, just most of the times the melodies in them aren't melodic and enjoyable, the album i and you mentioned aren't ideal for me as well, just happened to have more enjoyable tracks than other albums, but nevertheless still has some unenjoyable tracks even in these albums

Glad to see he liked a lot of it. I’ll be honest though I get not liking nuclear star, but not liking Crystalized is wild and I could not imagine

Don’t Like crystallized, I actually prefer nuclear star
Crystallized progression is kinda bland as well as me not liking that trance melody sound he uses in his older tracks (ex light it up)

Interesting choice of Camellia album by the donor given how different it is to most of his stuff, but it'll be interesting to see someone react to something other than his later, more ADHD, maximalist stuff. Like 80% of the reactions I've seen have been U.U.F.O. lol.
Edit 1: Based off what I'm getting about this guy's music taste, this would definitely be his favourite album though. I don't think he'd like the 200step stuff at all lol.
    Edit 2:
For the stuff he didn't like:
Overall, I have very different priorities when it comes to music to you. It's a rare joy for me when an album is a journey, but it's not a problem for me when it isn't. In order to actually meaninhfylly emgage withyour opinions, I've tried to look st this from the perspective of vibes amd immersiveness instead of just how much I like the songs.
    - I absolutely love First Town (I think its my favourite on the album actually) but yeah, it doesn't really make any sense in the context of the album. It's not enough to destroy the experience though, since its at least tone and sound adjacent.
    - 2nd NUCLEAR-STAR drop just doesn't work imo, from either perspective. Song-wise, it just feels super generic, but it's at least not outright bad, so it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the song too crazily. Story/vibe-wise though, it definitely throws everything off, but it's not a complete destruction of the established experience - the title and more energetic tone of the song justify it just enough to be more of an interesting direction for the album to go in that doesn't quite work than a total moodkiller.
    - In terms of aesthetic, I don't really have much to say about crystallised. It doesn't fit that well, but it I still think it fits.
    - Hard disagree on liquated. I think it works fantastically as a send off for the album and conclusion to its more bombastic last third.
One thing he never mentioned is that, thinking about the tone of the album, I feel it would be improved by removing most of the vocal samples. There are a couple places where they work fine, but others where they just feel too banger-y and only accentuate the parts of the album that don't work, tonally speaking.

i actually didnt imagine that brad would ever react to camellia, i was introduced to his songs with geometry dash, specifically the Exit this Earth's Atomosphere, i was amazed by the song since it was such a step up from other electronic songs (from gd) i'd listened to up until then, as i'd been playing gd since early 2015 very consistently, crystallized (the song), NUCLEAR-STAR, Light it Up, Quouar, Flash me Back, For the DELTA and Exit this Earth Atomosphere got me through mid 2022 to early 2023 i was very lonely in school back then, i didn't have any friends there, so in recess i'd either watch videos or listened to these songs on repeat, well along with other songs by some other artists (back then i never listened to full albums, only individual songs) and well, i was in disbelief when someone sent this in, sadly i joined at the last seconds of the album so i was rlly bummed by that, but i see you reuploaded the reaction so thanks for that :)

I wish I was on stream as you sent this lol
Your hesitation is understandable but I will let you know that Brad already does have a bit of experience to this kind of music with my requests. I've sent him Kobaryo, Silentroom, s-don, and Frums before as examples.
Glad to see I'm not the only one sending this in lol

I've always imagined him vibing to Blackmagik Blazing but Camellia has a lot of dubstep noises mixed in which is VERY hit or miss for people. The latter half with all the speedcore is where I think Camellia shines, though.

I will say that not all camellia songs won't have chill and vibe songs so thats way some most insane crazy song will be in rhythm games, etc.
