Sounds just like the new A45 AMG with an sports exhaust
Yes its due to a crank with a flat plane design instead of the amg typical cross plane.
@@essentials1016 Well i think you can tell a Pista or a P1 sounds better than this though. It's subjective, but this V8 in particular sounds like a 4cyl.

Yep, with bass to the max. A45 Amg with V8 overlay.
Makes me even more happy with my Audi 4.0T engine, crossplane crank :) But Pancake is absolutely wonderful. Happy for you Misha.
Flat plane basically makes it two inline fours, but Ferrari makes it possible to make them sound awesome
@@Baukevandijk difference in displacement bore X stroke. cut a ferrari V8 in half you'll have a short stoke under 2 liter 4 cylinder. your sound would be similar to a 90's honda(sans turbo). half a voodoo at 5.2 liters would be a 2.6 liter 4 pot. plus ford has a single throttle body vs dual throttle bodies for the ferrari. also consider the AMG V8 is modular scalable down to 4 cylinder that's why the flat plane V8 sounds like the 45.

It looks amazing, but honestly even the stock AMG GTR sound much nicer. The Black Series doesn't seem to growl/roar like a V8 should 😰

What on earth did the AMG engineers have in mind with this? How sad, no pipe setup will fix that.
Well, some engines bust have super awesome performamce, but don't sound great, nothing you can do

It is definitely better than before Misha especially the crackles & pops which are very nice I have to say.
So you know how a Huracan screams a beautiful tone but the Viper sounds like a piece of farm equipment. Yeah this is the flat plane V8 version of that. The GT350, or the ferrari 458 sound SO good. This sounds like a bad 4 cylinder

As I drink my morning coffee here I wish that every other American had the opportunity I had once to hold the throttle of an AMG to the floor and ride it out. We would build a much different car here in "The States".... But I chose a life in public service and that limits me to dreaming about performance while I ride around in my 180k mile Kia Optima LOL... #dadslyfe LOL

The downpipe definetly changes the note somewhat but it still sounds a bit like a dyson vacuum cleaner. Especially for the revrange of this engine, I don´t quite understand why Mercedes chose to put a flatplane crank in that engine, I think the crossplane crank V8 engine with this amount of power would have done well. I think the sound is especially sad for the heritage of AMG Blackseries vehicles and what they used to sound like on one hand and on the other Ford demonstrated with the Voodoo flat plane crank V8 in the GT350 that a rumbling and burbling flat plane crank V8 is possible and that engine revs over 8000 rpm stock.
It sounds like a 1.9TDI with straightpipes :D

Whilst I absolutely adore the AMG models, this just doesn't sing the AMG morning chorus like we used to get in the N/A 6.2 V8 days, modern Mercs sound weird

I think Mercedes missed out on putting a higher rev limit to the engine because it doesn't compensate much on the noise change.

sounds better for sure but no matter how hard you try it will never sound as good as it looks. But the excitement from the vehicle comes from the sheer pace on the track rather tan the drama

I honestly think the flat plane crank sounds a lot better than the other AMG v8s. Those sound like they're trying too hard, this sounds like it's all business and doesn't care what people think
