    You got me reaching for the saw, lol. I was thinking, man he’s old school 😂. Thanks for the video. I am enclosing a porch and making it an addition and was not sure how to insulate the low roof ceiling without blocking up the soffits, you showed us how to approach this. 👍🏼

    Really appreciate your video, as I'm about to do my own roof (off grid). Apparently a special caulking is required in my area around windows, doors, and change-in-plane.
    Thanks again

    I bought the cardboard ones but they seem kind of cheap and I am wondering if they might be effected by condensation over time. What do you think of the cardboard ones?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Рік тому

      Oh I actually haven’t heard of those type but that would be a concern of mine too, if over time they get damp and even rip through the staples and fall off. Usually I’m pretty confident in recognized brands products though, so if it’s from a reputable brand they should be good to go, gotta watch out for the gimmick brands though 🙃

      Cardboard ones in my home effectively dry rotted out after a few years. I ended up replacing it with a plastic baffle.

      I ended up building my own out of some old scraps of plywood and lumber I had lying around that I wanted to get rid of anyway.

    Why is it important for air to be venting through the attic? Just moisture and mold?

    • @venegasenmerida6307

      Heat also im in dallas

    • @76TomD
      @76TomD 5 місяців тому

      Attic fills up with heat during the summer which makes the AC work harder and cooks your roof. In the winter, the humid air from the house will cause mold.

    Where did you buy the pink styrofoam baffles?

    Is every rafter supposed to have a vent? I never seen this

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Рік тому

      There is a min amount, but you can’t have to many! Your attic space is suppose to be cold, so allowing air through the eaves, into the attic, and then out the roof vent, allows humid air to escape the attic and avoid unwanted moisture

    Why would you not spend 200 and buy a rolling scaffold ? When done sell on CL . Nice work

    I need to do this except they already blew in insulation 🥺 Where did you get these vents?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  2 роки тому

      Ooo ya, it’ll be a little annoying to do once the blown in insulation is in. They are called Moore vents and you should be able to get at any home supply store (Home Depot, lowes, etc)

    its crazy to me how expensive these vents are - they're made of the same Styrofoam stuff you get at the grocery store underneath the chicken but for the price of a lb of chicken EACH!

    How far up did you take the baffles?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Рік тому

      I think it was 36” from the top plate. I took into account the blown in insulation and made it 12” higher then that I believe

    you should never have two vaper barriers on the wall. Moisture will collect between them

  • @craigbb9177
    @craigbb9177 Рік тому

    you need a ridge vent

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Рік тому

      We got gable vents, but good call!

    • @billharris1975
      @billharris1975 11 місяців тому +1

      You should never put gable vents and a ridge vent in the same attic.They will work against each other,the gable vents will suck air in and out through the ridge vent. Thus little air movement down lower.
