Thank you for this video, Tudor! I'm also using X100VI and OM-5 and E-M10 Mark 4. It depends on my mood which camera I take with me. But one thing always brings me back to my OM-System (Olympus) cameras and lenses: it's the easy of use which no other system has yet offering me. Although I like using my X100VI, it doens't feel as easy and fast as my OM5 or E-M10. These cameras just feel more comfortable and easier to use. Especially in street photography when there's sometimes only a split of a second to react to a scene, the Olympus/OM-System gear is faster and get's the job done!
I mostly use an Olympus omd mark5ii with a Leica 15mm 1.7 on the street . I have ff Sony with gm lems 35mm 1.4 but it’s much larger and heavier to lug around while walking .
I started summer 2023 with a EM10 IV and a couple of primes, 14 and 25mm. They got me going then I saw a Fujifilm camera! I started with the X-E4 then got a cheap X-M1 and recently exchanged the X-E4 for an X-S20. Your channel has helped me a lot with kit and photography so a big thanks from me. :)
Sometimes I am in the mood micro 4/3 andI use the Pen F or the OM5 with the m.zuiko 17/1.8, pana-Leica 15/1.7 or Voightlander 25/0.95 for street photography. Other day, I use the Fuji xpro 1 with canon fd lenses (28 and 50) or the Fuji XE2s with 35/1.4 or 18/2 fujinon lenses. But if I am traveling, I take OM5 w/17mm (also m.zuiko 12-45/f4) and Fuji X70 for a light and potable set up (both cameras have charge in body). Saludos
Salut Tudor. Multumesc anticipat.
The Lumix / Leica 15mm is a gem of a lens. I do like the 25mm Olympus. That 20mm Pro Olympus sounds great -- one I have never owned. Always liking the 45mm lens and the Lumix 30mm macro, which might be slightly faster to focus when used with the GX-9, but both are excellent.
I have OM-D E5 MIII and I love to use it. There is no other system that can give the flexibility and ligtness of it considering the lenses also. Great video 👍
Great recommendation! I have an EM10-iii and lately I use it almost exclusively for travel and street my Fuji’s don’t get used as much as this camera. The Pana 14mm F2.5 is my favorite and the 20mm F1.7 is so small it’s easy to carry two primes. The Oly 12-40 F2.8 is one of best zoom lenses I’ve ever owned! Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
If you are slightly experienced or like to shoot manual focus or vintage lenses there are quite a few negatives with the camera. 1. Only 3 programmable buttons that are already controling some other camera function. (re)Program that button and lose the native control. 2. No "MY Menu" or other way to create a menu for often used items. Need to FORMAT, and you will scroll through the whole menu system every time. 3. To use focus peeking you will to assign (waste) a function button to activate it every time you turn on the camera. Even worse, if you switch from "A" mode to "S" mode, OR camera falls asleep, you need to activate again?? This is absolutely the most annoying feature for me.
The E-M10ii is sibling to my E-PL7 which I've used for 10y for stuff like this, and still do, despite having other bigger, newer, better MFT cameras. Usually fitted with the PZ14-42. Tilt screen and VF4. Perfect.
Um, all that m4/3 post-processing seems like a way for _add_ far more complications to one's life. A lot of people just want great photos SOOC _without_ complicating one's life. That's the huge advantage that you can get with Fujifilm JPEGs. Spend more time shooting and far less time screwing around in front of a computer screen later for hours dealing with software.
Actually the JPEG's straight out of camera are great and even play around with the art filters (as the RAW is unaffected) . I use a E-PM1, a PL10, a E-M10 MKIII and an E-M1 MKII depending on the circumstances and environments.
Have the em1.2 and was looking for a smaller body to pair the smaller lenses with. Might have to pony up the cash for this if the autofocus is up to snuff
Agree with you on the oft neglected m43 system and back tilt screen. And the AI noise reduction tool in lightroom is a v good point. Bit of a game changer that.
I like the 4×3 image too when barnack used the 3×2 it was a matter of convenience I used to use Fuji medium format 6×45 rangefinders in the 90's I have a micro 4/3rds system but I can't get on with the handling I prefer Fuji cameras above all and wish they would provide the 4/3rds framing option it couldn't be that difficult for them surely I often crop in my head especially when shooting a 35mm eqv lens so when printed to A4 it looses the edges yes the 4×3 ratio is the perfect framing
I always insisted on a tilt screen with my cameras for years. But I realized I hardly ever even use the screen I obsessed about. And even more for a year or so I keep it closed.
A 20mm f1.4 lens on MFT camera with a 2x crop factor is a 40mm f2.8 equivalent on full frame. You apply the crop factor to the aperture as well. And as good as a MFT camera is, cannot ever compare with the image quality you get from a full frame camera.
Rubbish. There is very little difference in reality (I own both). And no, you don’t have an equivalence for the aperture. So many newbs get this wrong.
What does goat slang mean? greatest of all time GOAT. A phrase where we have a phrase with four words beginning with G, O, A, T. This stands for greatest of all time. The absolute best, the absolute best at something. Of course the word 'goat', not in all caps is also an animal.
full frame has it's uses. I take mostly indoor pics at night and group shots. So in that scenario, I need very good ISO, ie 12,600 and about 20mm to 35mm full frame field of view. In that scenario, full frame is better suited than micro 43. For indoor shots, you can't really back up from your target as you are limited by the wall and other people in the room which you don't want to capture. So you can stand only about 2 to 4 meters away from your target and you'll need a wide angle lens to capture about 3 to 4 people in a group shot in that distance. Micro 43 would not be a good fit in that scenario. For adhoc pics in indoor environments, we have to face the weakness of the small sensor, ie. noise in iso above 6400. IBIS is not going to help as the subjects are moving., so shutter speed has to be high and ISO has to go up.
@@veritas932 that's an other misconception. Mft is not noisier than FF. But you have of course apply the crop factor as well to the focal length as to the f stop. A mft 17mm f1.2 would be a 34mm f2.4 in terms of FF that would yield the same result. Which means you would need to raise your ISO by two stops which would roughly give you the same noise level than mft😌

Entirely agree, since choosing Olympus, I forgot the Raw 😊

Lumix GX9 and Zuiko 30mm macro f/3.5 is my choice for street. And silver fx from DXO.
Perfect combo!

my EM10ii always in my bag. EM10 series very best for street photography for me.

Lumix G100D is great for street photography... So light...😊

perfect video. Yes Micro Four Thirds is the best system for street photography. So sorry for all those toxic haters...

After Taylor Swift was pictured with the E-M10 IV, second hand prices are a bit high. But won't be forever.
why are pics labelled GX9 ? are they gx9 or olympus em10 mk4?
I said both cameras are very good and many others m43 cameras
I always insisted on a tilt screen with my cameras for years. But I realized I hardly ever even use the screen I obsessed about. And even more for a year or so I keep it closed.
So the question is, what are you going to do with your X-T50 and X100vi? Keeping them both??
Yes, but X-T5 is on my list to sell... sometime...
Great video
Nice trick with the border/frame setting.
Thank you! Cheers!
Get the 12mm f2 instead!

In street photography, F1.4 in FF terms gives too thin a DoF. F2.8 is more practical and forgiving to slight AF inaccuracies.
True!
