Join us next year as Dan unveils his Advent House where each room contains at least one wall sized advent calendar that also contains at least one advent calendar (some of which contain additional advent calendars)...and Ashens has to cart it all home on the train after winning with a calendar entirely sourced from his spare room (again).
And in the middle of the house there is a staircase that descends infinitely into the house, where an ancient grass-masked beast has made his lair. Stuart is lost in the house and has to defend himself using tat sourced from the calendars.
I binge watched the cheese calendar about 2 weeks in, and made myself a dish of various cheeses to eat while watching. I did enjoy the flavors of my cheese variety, however I seriously underestimated and regretted the volume of which I consumed. I feel your pain, Dan!
This was my favourite year so far. The mix of beautifully thoughtful things, nerdy knick-knacks, and downright tat was glorious. I hope you're both having very happy and restful days today. Merry Christmas folks. :)
The reason for the whole "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot." is the first time we see Picard use a replicator, Picard is getting frustrated with its unintelligence. "Tea", "please specify variety of tea", "earl grey", "please specify temperature", "HOT". Ever since, he's stuck with "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.", despite that the replicator probably remembers his preference now and he could just say "tea".
@@RaunienTheFirst I think I remember in maybe All Good Things? WHen he is in the past and asks for a earl grey and it isn't in the system yet? And he had to smile about it. Something of a scene like that anyway.
Dan's Calendar is still one of the finest pieces of art ever, period. Yeah, I've been all over Italy and saw the Sistine Chapel, St Mark's (by the way, St. Marks way better than Sistine), etc. Yeah, did the Louvre in Paris and Notre Dame before the fire, did the castles of the UK and whatnot. That calendar done with love by Dan's beautiful wife is up there. Truly is a wonderful and delicate balance between horrifying and beautiful.

Just wanted to say thank you for doing these every year. Odd as it may sound but watching these videos gives me a bit of structure in what can be a difficult month for me. Long may this series continue!
Congrats to Ashens for winning this year's advent. I am going to miss this for another 11 months, and I'll especially miss the giant stonking advent calendar that Dan had made. Merry Christmas, all.
This series is sort of my favorite thing about the Christmas season. No work, no expense. It just gives. Other channels slack off, or fall off the face of the Earth, but you guys (independently and together) multiply your efforts. You're like Christmas carolers, without the intrusion and awkwardness!
I can't believe this is over already. I'm so sad. I want to steal Dan's idea for an advent calendar with my IKEA bookshelf. If I buy things now then I'll forget what they are by next December and I can spend an year painting the front and have a surprise of crap and tat 🤣
I always thought Picard just taught the replicator that when he says "hot" he means a specific temperature, since other characters ordering drinks would specify a temperature in their request. It would certainly save him time over saying "90 degrees Celsius" all the time.
I figured it implies 'extra hot'. Where it normally would serve tea at one temperature, asking for it 'hot' serves it a few degrees hotter. But I'm sure Picard would at some point have set how much hotter exactly. :)
@@TheMrVengeance Alternate reality where "hot" was never set as a specific temperature. Picard orders a hot tea, replicator proceeds to instantly turn the tea and cup into a supernova, vaporizing the whole ship.
next year set up a PO box, and pick 50 random items (25 each) sent in by fans without either of you two seeing what's in each box ahead of time. (matt will though, as someone needs to check and make sure each item is safe)
The demonic influence this year was so subtle it was unapparent :) It's been a few years since I watched this series and it feels so great to have it back as part of my xmas time nonsense
Next year Stuart should make a nerd cubed Advent calendar full of NERDCUBED centered things and Dan should make an ashens calendar with ashens style things. With the punishment calendar being a hot sauce Calendar. Or an actual UA-camr advent calendar to compare which is the better advent calendar
Thank you, Dan and Stuart, for missing out on time with your families to bring us this final advent special, I'm sure your families are disappointed that you're both absent, but I'm sure they all understand the importance of recording, editing, rendering, and uploading the advent on the day of, because doing so is the only way to appease the grass masks, if they had recorded all of these in advance in a single day and had them ready to be posted, then the grass masks would have been most displeased, and they would have come and delivered divine punishment on all humanity. Good showing of the British trains this year, they surprisingly did not result in Stuart ever being late to any of the recording sessions, which as we all know he must travel to and fro every single day of advent, as is advent tradition! And so, the grass masks remain peaceful and dormant for another year, until they awaken once more next advent to threaten the holiday season all over again.
Dan deserved a point or two for the painting and the effort he took to source all this stuff but it was an enjoyable series this year. Thanks for the entertainment.
a dvd advent calendar that includes a dvd player on the first day and a series of movies on dvd every day after would be vaguely cool but an advent calendar of just different dvd players is way funnier
Ahh they always go by so fast. I hate I have to get a year older to see the next one. This one was great! My favorite since you two tried to put together that little helicopter lol
Merry Christmas! Thanks for another advent! It always kinda holds my December together and gives a nice routine to an otherwise pretty chaotic month. I thoroughly enjoyed this custom calendar year 😁
I really thought dan would win by a landslide after the first episode 😂 this was a great series though with a huge mix of different items. Only thing is there 100% needs to be a punishment calendar next year it just adds that extra bit to the videos
Thanks so much for doing this every damn year for our amusement. It's truly the bright spot in an otherwise gloomy season. You guys are the fucking business.
I hope that next year instead of changing shirts they just keep adding new shirts on top over and over again until they become giant insulated katamari lumps that just can't go on by the end.
I think I prefer the naming and shaming of commercial calendars though to show the world just how much rip-off these companies do in the name of advent. Happy Christmas everybody!
Ashens was amazing at upselling the tat that was in his calendar. I believe Dan really should have won. Also on OfficiallyNerdCubed there is a special Ashens Nerd3 video.
I just love that in competing advent calendars, where each day of a thing with 24 days, whoever gets the better gift gets a point, and the scores add up to 27.
Incidentally, in an interview Patrick Stewart was asked about the oddity of a Frenchman drinking English tea. Stewart mentioned that when it came up that Picard would be drinking lots of tea, he suggested the tea be lapsang souchong, but the producers didn't think anyone would know what that was. Can you imagine if Picard kept ordering "lapsang souchong hot" from the replicator? Btw, lapsang souchong is an intensely smoky tea. I tried some last year and it reeks of pine forest fire with notes of tire fire. It literally stunk up the whole kitchen. It probably pairs well with a meaty breakfast.
Join us next year as Dan unveils his Advent House where each room contains at least one wall sized advent calendar that also contains at least one advent calendar (some of which contain additional advent calendars)...and Ashens has to cart it all home on the train after winning with a calendar entirely sourced from his spare room (again).
Spoiler: each room contains a used mattress.
And in the middle of the house there is a staircase that descends infinitely into the house, where an ancient grass-masked beast has made his lair. Stuart is lost in the house and has to defend himself using tat sourced from the calendars.
And every single calendar box contains Grass Masks. Every. Single One.
Plot twist, the train home is an advent calendar with 24 stops
Every item costs 1p. Dan is nonplussed when he loses.
I think Dan just needs to console himself with the fact that he had to consume absolutely no cheese at any point in this years series.
Or spice!
no ;)
Or in this entire year!
I binge watched the cheese calendar about 2 weeks in, and made myself a dish of various cheeses to eat while watching. I did enjoy the flavors of my cheese variety, however I seriously underestimated and regretted the volume of which I consumed. I feel your pain, Dan!

I don't remember that, and I've seen all of TNG several times. I'll just have to watch it all again! Oh no..!
Tea. Lipton. Iced. With sugar. Lots of sugar.

I think Rebecca should have won for putting up with you both every year, and for making this brilliant art piece.
There's a hidden day 26 that just has Divorce papers in it.
i would have loved a video of her making it!
It's nice that it goes full circle and the final day contains a reliable reindeer.

As we all know from the Star Trek prequel (Hitchhikers Guide) the replicator had a hard time with tea at the beginning
I’m shocked there wasn’t a Grass Mask devouring one of the days-
Why do you think day 1 was so cold?
The Grass Masks were hiding all season, biding their time.
Look on top of the advent calendar...
I really expected day 25 to be full of grass masks.
To be fair, Dan should get at least 1 point for how excellent that calendar is, and Stuart should lose at least 1 point for the fucking USB day 😆
