  • Well it's that time of year again, Thanksgiving is over and it's time to make the ride up to Tioga County for; Pennsylvania Whitetail Deer Season 2016
    We start filtering into camp on Friday, and Saturday to enjoy the 3 days before the season starts to eat a lot off good food, drink just a little too much, and have some laughs at each others expense.
    Getting together with friends and relatives is what its all about, bagging a deer is a bonus for us, though sure, we do want to get one. .
    The deer around the property was pretty good this year, we had 3 PA legal bucks on camera all summer long. the Does are pretty plentiful as usual. Just couldn't locate any legal bucks this trip.
    Good times and good eats abounded. Along with some good old jokes and ball busting.
    WARNING: I didn't remove or bleep out the vulgar language again this year. Kind of keeps it true to form, don't know many camps were a F-bombs aren't common.

    Thomas I'm a new subscriber. Out of all your deer camp videos I like this one the best. I liked each hunter doing a quick video in their stand. I also loved the not bleeping out the profanity. I worked my way backwards through your videos and finally found out who senior was along with the others in the camp. I love getting to deer camp in West Virginia whenever I can make it. This video is very real TY

      Thanks for the sub! Will have to give them a camera, or have them use their phones. I don't want to pressure them into thinking they have to do it. Shawn's would have been in there, but of course he missed this year. Take care!

    Love the videos!!!! We’ve been in camp in my coming county for 15 years and the cabin goes back over 100 years. I feel like you guys should do all your checking weeks before the season. I think to much charging around the woods days before isn’t working out for ya !!! We also are a big driving group of 15+ people every year and set up 3-4 big drives a day through the lycoming county mountains. The drives produce at least 1-2 decent bucks every year

    • @whiterook85
      @whiterook85  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the kind words. Would like to get up there earlier but for me it's a 6 hour ride one way, and the other guys about 4 hours. With the season now starting on Saturday, that gives us even less time. We don't have a big enough property for drives, but I know they work, kicks up those stubborn bucks that don't want to move.

      I guess we have UA-cam to thank, but glad you made it over here. Glad your enjoying the videos. A couple of the guys may bear hunt, but that is the few days right before Thanksgiving, then we come up the day after. So a bit hectic, and my wife loves bears, so I retired from hunting them. Thanks again for finding the channel.

    Whiterook85,
    congrats on the 30 years, that's a lifetime of good times. I have been checking youtube daily waiting for the video and yes you have dome it again. When the PA Deer Camp youtube video came up, everything went on hold. Loved the bit on the history of the cabin and comment about the BBQ pit boys. You seem to have just the right mix with the eating, drinking, yahooing and hunting. Thanks for putting the videos out there and looking forward to the next one. Great entertainment.

      @whiterook85  7 років тому

      Bob, thanks for the kind words, try to put something out there that everyone will enjoy. We step it up in the food department because it's a vacation for some of the guys, and we want to do it up right. I like trying different things, get some of my inspiration from the BBQ Pits boys,, "we're going to eat good tonight Martha!". Would like one of those guys to connect with a deer, more than I do myself. Thanks again, glad you liked it.

    Glad to see you guys continue to return even with a positive attitude about hunting. My dad always said "it only takes one" meaning sooner or later one will come to ya. Good luck next year!

    Awesome that you have a history of this kind of "American" hunting experience. It exists in all 50 states. I am envious, I need to reestablish the tradition in my families history at the ripe old age of 60. I lost it when I got busy chasing a national championship in wrestling in the late 1970's, but just got the bug. I am going to organize a deer hunt in the great state of Washington next year. Thanks. By the way, the 120 minute Dog Fish Head is the best in my humble opininon!

    Hello Tom,
    Wow, really don't know where to begin. Stellar video!
    I cant believe how you always manage to change it up every year but you still get across what its all about. Thanks for the kind words and shout out. Loved this video from the beginning to end, enjoyed the drive up and of course camp time, but what got me is how you changed up the hunting footage and added the music. Awesome.
    Looks like you guys had a great time, with some amazing food. Thanks so much for sharing, I vote this the best overall deer camp video on YT.
    Hope your having a good one.
    Regards
    Mark
    PS. Cool to see you wearing the cap.

    • @whiterook85
      @whiterook85  7 років тому

      Mark,
      Was a lot of fun to put together, and a lot of time, but well worth it. Hopefully you will see a bump in viewers on your channel also. Always enjoy taking a look at what you're doing. You seem to have a lot of antlers in that shed also.
      Had a great time, food was out of this world good for being at a camp. With that smoker there who knows what we will be doing next, I've already been searching for something new to cook up. Have a few ideas, but will see what happens.
      The only thing that didn't cooperate is a buck for one of the guys, I've had my share, want one of them to get one very badly. The edited gutting footage will be a hoot too.
      Thanks for the kind words, and yep been wearing the hat during my DE and PA hunts, brought me luck in DE, was hoping for a little something up North.
      Still a bit of hunting left here, will be back out after Christmas to see if anything is still around.
      Thanks again,
      Tom

    Well done again this year and congrats on the nice buck! We have a camp in SE Potter. The 3 guys who founded it in '82 are getting up there in age and not really active anymore. My dad, who is one of the founders, went up with me for the first Friday - Saturday. It was great being out in the woods (missed a buck, long story), but it certainly is nothing like what our camp used to be in it's heyday.
    I look forward to you and Sintax77's video's each year. I feel like I'm living vicariously through your camp experiences and what ours used to and probably won't be again. I'm thankful for the opportunities that I get to spend with my dad on these trips and the memories that we made in NC Pa.

    • @whiterook85
      @whiterook85  7 років тому

      Thanks for the support, want to keep this tradition going as long as I can. Too bad on your buck, I can't say I never missed one, so we have all been there thinking what did I do wrong and what can I do better the next time. I've had a few haunt me for a long time.
      Nice to hear that you went up with your Dad, I'm sure he has some stories back in PA's deer heyday. They may not have been big bucks, but we always got something. Always lots of action and shooting. Now it is mostly sit and hope for the one buck and one shot.
      Hopefully the camp will come back to what it was, maybe a few sons or grandsons will put down their phones and get out in the woods.
      Will come a time where I just go to be with the guys, but for now I'll keep plugging away hoping for my PA Buck. Delaware is a great place to hunt if you know someone or have a lease, it's not like PA with the large tracts of public land.

    Congratulations on 30! I feel like I am living my Pennsylvania deer season vicariously through you and your group of guys. I hunted small game and deer from the time I was 12 until I moved away when I was 40. Your videos are genuine and capture the camaraderie of what deer camp is and should be all about. We had a group of guys that hunted together for about 10 years until a few of us moved away (maybe a reunion someday). thank you for sharing your great experiences with me!

    Great video! That roast looked awesome! I want to try one next year. I thought the wood chopping was hillarious. Our camp didn't have much luck either this season. I agree with the other comment about getting a solar system. A few batteries and a power inverter would be easier than messing around with the generator and a whole lot quieter. Would love to see a more detailed segment on the history of the property, cabin construction, camp characters, and more about senior.

    I've been watching your videos for some time now. I really enjoy the deer camp ones. 30 yr. anniversary is something special. I belong to a camp in McKean county that will celebrate its 70th anniversary next season. I have one question you may be able to answer. How come the camp was built on stilts on the hillside? Seems to me it could have been built on solid ground. Anyway, good luck next season and keep putting out the great videos.

    • @whiterook85
      @whiterook85  7 років тому +1

      Was really built before I went up for the first time in 86. I know Sr. wanted a spot that was back off the road so you wouldn't see all the cars/trucks passing while you were there. It is nice, most of the cabins you can see from the road. It's really not bad that way, the deck is up off the ground, so when the bears go by you don't mind. and we store a lot of extra wood under the cabin. Thanks for checking out the videos.
