  • Ever heard of a Sonker? I hadn’t before now, so I was super excited to try one! It’s a North Carolina tradition - there’s even a Surry Sonker Trail to celebrate this unique cobbler, which I am totally adding to my travel list.

    Hi! Here’s the recipe for a Sonker Cobbler. Thanks for the support, and I would absolutely love to know how it goes!
    - RECIPE -
    Preheat oven to 350°
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 T. cornstarch
    1 /2 c. water
    4 c. Fruit
    Whisk cornstarch and water until no lumps. Combine with blueberries and sugar. Pour into a 1-1/2 qt. baking dish. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, stirring halfway.
    Sift together:
    1 c. flour
    1-1/2 t. baking powder
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 t. salt
    Stir in lightly:
    1/2 c. Butter, melted
    1/2 c. milk
    Pour onto hot fruit. Bake at 350° for
    35-40 min., until golden brown.
