Out of all the videos on surviving the outdoors I watch, this guy's videos are by far the best. He has probably forgotten more about the subject than I will ever know. Great videos and please keep them coming. Thank you Dave...
Dave, The fact that you go the distance to answer even the naysayers questions is a testament to you integrity and the quality of your work. I've learned more from you through these videos that all my other teachers combined. Keep on truckin' claude
Keeping it simple allows not only the common man to participate and practice his skills, but the city dwellers as well, who only briefly get the chance to get outdoors. When the SHTF, they can rely on their newly found skills to help them expand their God given learning capabilities. Another great video Dave, God Bless you and your family.
People, please appreciate the work that Dave does. He is giving us knowledge that you can't possibly acquire but thorough days and days of study and practice, and he is doing this for free. Don't bother the gentleman with nonsense. He has proved that his work is genuine many times fold. Ask reasonable questions and don't doubt this man's honesty. Thanks Dave.
Pretty sure anyone with a shred of common sense can work out what an honest guy Dave is and appreciates the wisdom he continues to share with us all. Another awesome vid man gj.
I think it is honorable of you to again show how to start a fire. I don't miss a one of your videos. Your videos remind me of the things I have learned over the years and you create an interest in me that makes me research areas in which I want more information. Thanks Dave. Your are a teacher that I highly appreciate and respect.
Dave, you are the King! I've been a huge fan ever since I got interested in survival/bushcraft/prepping, long before Dual Survival. You do excellent work, nevermind the negative people. Thank you for all you do!
How does this sound? President of the United States, Dave Canterbury. That's just what America needs right now. A man with good values who can skin a squirrel in seconds, live off the land, start fires with wet tinder, and tells it like it is. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Great video Dave keep up the good work. You are very much appreciated.
Dave THAT was a fantastic video!!! If you have spent much time in the woods, you know that the bird's nest is the weak link. You did a great job getting that damp nest to light up. My hat is off to you! I want you to know that there is a guy in Upstate NY that deeply appreciates all your hard work. God bless. John
Hello, I'm a 17 yr kid from the city, but I am amazed by these methods. First, Dave is the MAN. I just want to thank him for sharing his knowledge with me and everyone. And He does this for free. Feel free to say "your just a kid" but not all kids are stuck inside playing video games. I guess I just wanted to tell Dave thank you and hope everyone remenders this when leaving a comment.
I've been thinking about this, Dave. You know what the problems is with those who have nothing to share but negativity? It's the fact that they can't do what you do & they feel inferior. And you make it look so easy. Don't let them pull you down, brother. You are the one and only Pathfinder. Thank you from all of us who can't get enough and who are appreciative of you taking the time to share your tribal knowledge with us.
I think what Dave teaches is dead on...as he always reminds us of "DIRT TIME"...watch...learn....practice...the people who think that the skill is faked need to spend more time in the DIRT and less time on here....thanks Dave for all you do and the way you do it
Dave, I appreciate the time you take to help others. I've been an outdoorsman/hunter all my life and I always learn something new by watching your videos. Note to trolls- challenging/criticizing Dave is not going to improve your skills-dummy.
I can't get enough of the firecraft videos! I'm always amazed when I see a bird nest catch when using flint/steel or other primitive methods. Great Video!
Im teaching my 14 yr old son, my best friend and his 14 yr old son and a few more of my son friends as much as possible. we go our primitive camping all the time. your channel is a wealth of great information, love it!!! keep up the good work!
Also Dave, you are a great go-to man for those who are preparing for things to go south in this country, trust me, I’m one of them. With the way thing are, knowing this survivalist stuff can save thousands here at home; I'm sure you know what I mean. You are still doing your country proud and by the way, thank you for your service.
Dave you do so much for all of us that follow you and the time you put in to it so we can see the best teaching on youtube that the nay sayers need to get a life. I have not seen one video of yours that needed done a second time. Thanks for giving to us your knowledge and more important your time.
Don`t worry about the haters Dave. We are so blessed that you make these videos for us. Please continue to do your videos. We have learned so much! Thanks again.
I cant thank Dave and his crew enough for putting up this free channel, Ive learned a lot on this channel, I feel way more confident on fire making with my flint and steel now. and can make my ow char-cloth. keep up the good work. I wish Dave had a school on the west coast
Dave, I appreciate your honesty in the way that you teach your students and the videos that you show on UTube! Some other so called survival experts would rather go and stay in a hotel at night than to show you how hard it can be to be in a real survival situation! Thanks again!
Suck it up Shirley! Their just Arm Chair Whinners! We watch you to learn, to prepare, to survive, to deal with the basic's of life in the wilderness with just the clothes on our back when the SHTF. I genuflect in your general direction! We too appreciate what you do for us. What you do for our family's. The time you put in for us to learn. We all learn for each other. Best regards, Mike
they questioned you because they would have more chance having a tornado run through a junkyard and it builds a fully functioning 747 then they could start a fire in dry conditions never mind damp or wet. always a joy and learning experience watching your videos from 1 dave to another thank you
Dave I am just one of many but my advice, and not that you need it you are squared away, is don't let the morons get you down. You have been in the military you know the type of people out there with the 86 I.Q. and access to the internet. Your a great teacher and I have learned a ton from your vids. For me I find them very straight forward and easy to understand. Also I have no doubt of your integrity so the edits are not an issue. Thanks for what you do and how you do it.
Speaking as one of your staunchest supporters, I think, anyone who doubts you and what you say, can go spit in the wind. I thank you for all the effort and time you put into the planning, making, editing and uploading your videos (I think once is enough) and the subject information included therein. Everything you do for us youtubers is so very much appreciated and enjoyed. Please accept our best wishes to you and your family. When it comes to men, you are the bomb! Keep on keeping on! Rick
Not sure who the "doubters" are out there, but anyone who has followed you for some time (like me) knows that if you lay out the way you did something then that's how you did it. I've see enough of your videos to know you say what you mean and do what you say. Keep up the great work Dave and don't let the doubters deter you. You have taught me so much and I'm sure there are 10's of thousands out there that would agree with me on that. God Bless.
Dave there are a lot of people who have your back. Anyone who has ever met you speaks about your sincerity, honesty, and integrity first and foremost. Don't let ignorant people dissuade you from doing what you do, in my opinion better than anyone else out there at the moment. Keep up the great work brother, and thank you for what you do in helping us to be prepared and have the necessary knowledge so we can keep our families safe and alive. God Bless Brother!
Thanks for both videos Dave! I don't think you needed to make the second one, but I always appreciate ANY video you take the time to make and provide for the masses!
I enjoyed the first one too. I believe you, and Ive seen you make fires hundreds of times to know you can do it in wet conditions. Thanks for teaching.
I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Thanks for all your hard work making these great videos. Its a shame that there are people out there that just want to constantly question everything you do. Keep up work my friend, as you can see from the comments a lot of us really appreciate your videos.
When you master something, you make it look easy. You made it look too easy for some people. I thank you for your videos and for sharing your knowledge. God bless you brother.
Dave, I think you taught something else today. Not just that fire can be made in wet conditions with a little patience but that with a little self control you can rise above the judges. Well done bud. The fire vid was awesome and your character came shining brightly through as well.
Dave you're the man and one of my biggest motivations and role models that I have in life. These youtube warriors don't even have the right to say some of the crap they do. You've been doing these stuff for decades and have been doing it well. So thank you for everything that you do, you're a wilderness legend as far as I am concerned and to the idiots who had problems with the first video, pay attention to detail and open your eyes once in awhile.
Dave been camping, back packing, hunting etc for a number of years but ALWAYS learn something from your videos. Would have never thought of using a lamp wick until I saw this video. You're doing a fine job brother. Let the doubters doubt and the rest of us will still benefit from your knowledge.
Dave I agree with you about the length of the videos. 10 to 15 minutes is a nice balance I think between education and entertainment for a single subject. Sitting down for a half hour on a youtube vid seems a lot given peoples busy schedules these days, but I still make time to watch your SAN videos when I can. That said, I enjoy watching you work immensely. So keeping vids shorter is good, but the fast fwd thing seems like a good option. Please never stop bringing us into the woods with you
Thanks for everything, Dave... you have taught me more skills that I can use throughout the years to come than anyone else has. The content you provide is more important due to the economic turmoil in this country. Thanks to the poor management of monetary policy in this country, traditional retirement is not an option for my later years. Your videos help me learn the skills needed for my "retirement" plans and living using self reliance techniques.
You had no need to proove anything by reshooting a video, but way to be a big man about it, thats why your such a good teacher and a good guy, keep up the vids, we all appreciate them.
Not sure why anyone would have doubted, but want to let you know, I appreciate the videos you put out...I've learned alot, and am sharing with my sons. Thanks.
There is a sceptic in every crowd, but I guess you try to please everyone. Great video again a learning experience every time. May God continue to bless you and the Pathfinder school
dave these videos are the best and most informatively pack self reliance videos on the web bar none, not saying other peoples videos are good but there resume cant stack up to yours thank you very much for everything you teach in these videos. you are teaching us common men to be self reliant thank you for what you do for us. best wishes to you and your family dave.
Not sure if we can say it enough but Thank you Dave for all you bring to us And helping in preserving the old ways And the Tribal knowledge lest we forget when it is most needed... Again thank you
You didn't have to redo the video because of some people hating on you. But its great to see that you actually read the comments and care about your viewers. I love the videos and they are very informative. Keep up the great work Dave.
DAVE YOU ROCK! Thanks for all you give us for FREE! Your teachings make us more knowledgeable and hopefully more in tune with our outer surroundings! I wishj you and yours the very best and consider all your subscribers (and non subscribers who watch) blessed to have you! Dave Canterbury for president 2016...well i can dream right =)
Dave, We have been watching you for years, never doubted your abilities before, don't doubt them now! This vid should vid should hold the whinabies for awhile. You have our love and support always. Keep the faith, Brother!
Dave, you are amazing at what you do. I was watching before the discovery show came out and I was thinking you were to good to just stay on UA-cam and not go past those standards. I'm glad you are in more than one place so I can Learn as much as possible. Don't ever stop making videos!!
I'm moving back home to southwestern Pa soon.. can't wait to be back out in those woods. The swamp is fun but nothing beats the forests of the northeast. I'm definitely planning volunteering for a SAN outing! great work Dave!
Dave I just want to thank you for all you do for us! The knowledge you share is a blessing for people like myself that does the research but sometimes needs a little more guidance..god bless you and your family...the Holladay household
Apparently lots of new viewers still coming in after watching old re-runs of Dual Survival - which is a good thing. Folks, if you haven't clicked on Dave's UA-cam channels you really should. He has been at this on UA-cam for years and there is a ton of woodland wisdom there waiting for you to view them.
Dave, Of all the survivalists that are, or were, on television - Leo Stroud, Bear Grylls, Cody Lundin, et cetera - you are by far my favorite. I like those guys, too, so I'm not trying to denigrate or impugn their work in any way. But I think I learn more from you, and I like your personality more. Thanks! And keep up the wonderful work.
Your awsome big D. I like the outdoors and making things tough on myself when my brother and I are out there in the sierra nevadas working on our skills. Self reliance is key and i watch all your videos to help hone my skill. Your techniques from A to Z are great, straight forward, and with practice Ive mastered nearly all of them, but in a real life or death situation my brother and I have agreed if we could choose anyone to be with us it would be you hands down. Much thanks Dave ur awsome!!!!
I learned about you and your school after dual survival came out, I've been a loyal fan and student since. Thank you for all the info and insight, keep up the excellent work.
Hey Dave! Thank you so much! BTW I always have a deerskin pouch, tied to my belt, waterproofed with tallow and it is 18 inches long, 6 inch long cover with a 4 inch diameter mouth with a couple of cinch cords. What ever tinder and kindling I find goes in the pouch as I move towards my camp. The sun dried sphagnum moss dries any humidity right out of pouch and so by the time I get to my camp it's ready to go. I split a 3-4 inch standing dead 24 inches long for my hearth. Keep on keeping on! Rick
Dave, I've been watching your vids on here and DS with my kids for a while. Don't let the haters dictate how you do the work you do. You put a lot of time and hours into your craft, and it shows! Keep it up brother and keep the awesome vids coming! Hope to see you in a few months for a class and get some hands on training!
Dave, superior video as always. Your a good man, re-shooting a video for those whose "outdoor experiences" end with a game of Call to Duty on a couch somewhere, and driving to the local 7-11 to "secure game" for food. I wouldn't have.
great job dave, i didnt see the previous video but im sure it was upto the same high standard as usual, youtube just seems to be a magnet for the trolls some times. Shows great patience and a passion for what you do to take time out of your own day to ensure that ur lesson is gotten across and understood by everyone. Keep up the top work, we all appreciate it
Good vid ...Again ....Dave. Love your vids brother. For all the guys that question weather or not you're working in wet conditions. To hell with them. You keep makin your vids the way you are my friend and we'll keep watchin... I've learned a hell of a lot from your channel. and hope to learn much more...Take care brother...Rod I hope this summer to make it down to Ohio to take in one of your classes. God bless you and your family...Rod
It’s amazing how people find anything to complain about we all know you are full of skill and knowledge and have no need to BS a video keep up the skills and teaching it’s much appreciated
Dave you are an awesome guy for teaching all these great survival lessons. You really should just ignore the douche bags who would call fake on a video or bitch about not believing you when you say it is damp out and mostly soaking wet. Most of them would probably starve or freeze to death if they had to spend any time outdoors at all. You rock! keep up the very good work please.
Great stuff Dave. I made a fire last night using some of your information. I did it about an hour after a thunderstorm blew through. Took some TLC to get it goin but we made some bannock over the coals after it had burned down a bit. Great vids, thanks for posting & Keep them coming please.
Don't let them get to you Dave, There is no way to please everyone, If they have questions just ask or better yet go out and try it. Kepp up the great job, Not sure why people find the need to post negitive comments,
Any person who says it isn't wet out there has never been to Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky in the woods in this time of year. We are and have been in one of our two wet seasons in this area. Knowing this about dead standing tinder is extremely helpful.
We as adults have complicated ourselves out of simplicity. What Dave is showing you is common sense. Our first basic human instincts.Fire,Water,Food,Shelter. Dave shows you how to get it if it is taken away from you.We have had people stranded in cars for days here in Illinois. One lady and her husband died he broke his back in the car wreck in the middle of winter in the country, after a day or so she left and walked through the snow blizzard, they found her dead, frozen,Look it up Will county IL.
Good video. It is pathetic that people are gonna harass a guy who is obviously dedicating a large amount of his time to teaching these skills FOR FREE and does a great job of it. Keep up the good work Dave. Just remember the old saying "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"...There are some folks who are gonna live and die ignorant and there is no way to reach them, you don't have to prove anything to those kind of people and you'll only waste your time trying.
Great Video Dave... I'm sure I speak for many when I say this.. so thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge with us. Always a great watch mate Cheers
Dave, I did the same type thing the other day after all that rain. I went to a local wooded area and tried to make fire. Two days before that I made fire by friction and everything was dry and easy to make fire, But yesterday I searched every nook and cranny for dry tinder and nothing was available. I resorted to feather sticks and even those wouldn't light on their own, so I used my pine pitch glue as a last resort. I lit the glue with a bic and feather sticks on top. FIRE. steamy but Fire. lol
hey Dave I enjoyed all your videos they are really great. keep them coming I practice the same thing here in Georgia continuously and religiously. your videos are right to the point and dead on. I think I've watched all your videos lol. have a great day.
Please repost the other vid. For those of us who know and love you're vids, we don't question them. We understand that you have to edit for time concerns. What you teach us is invaluable knowledge.
Out of all the videos on surviving the outdoors I watch, this guy's videos are by far the best. He has probably forgotten more about the subject than I will ever know. Great videos and please keep them coming. Thank you Dave...

Excellent Vid Dave. The more I see on making fire, the more I learn the extreme importance of having reliable fire making tools with you at all time!
People, please appreciate the work that Dave does. He is giving us knowledge that you can't possibly acquire but thorough days and days of study and practice, and he is doing this for free. You are a man of great integrity. I hope you dont still get in trouble for leaving stuff in your pockets that go in the washing machine.
Another great video, Dave. If there is anyone that doesn't need to prove himself anymore, it is you. Thanks for the education.
Speaking as one of your staunchest supporters, I think, anyone who doubts you and what you say, can go spit in the wind. Again thank you
Everytime I watch your videos I learn something no matter how insignificant it may seem.More power to ya brother!
Even though you felt like you had to do it twice, thanks for another great video. It is always a pleasure to watch your shows.
You didn't have to redo the video because of some people hating on you. But its great to see that you actually read the comments and care about your viewers. I love the videos and they are very informative. Keep up the great work Dave.

Dave you have nothing to prove to no one... Been watching you for years mate, hands down your the best on youtube :)

Dave Canterbury for president 2016...well i can dream right =)
Dave,
We have been watching you for years, never doubted your abilities before, don't doubt them now!
Thanks, Dave for all of your effort in making these great videos for us to learn from and enjoy.
I have learned more from you than i think i ever would have learned without your knowledge and for that i thank you.
Dave, Your skill and integrity are beyond reproach.
Dave I learn more & more everyday from you. Thank you!
dont let the doubters shake you....thank you for what you do and did happy vets day
I'm moving back home to southwestern Pa soon.. can't wait to be back out in those woods. The swamp is fun but nothing beats the forests of the northeast. I'm definitely planning volunteering for a SAN outing! great work Dave!
You have more patience the me Brother, thats what makes you a good teacher. Good job and God bless you.
Dave,
Of all the survivalists that are, or were, on television - Leo Stroud, Bear Grylls, Cody Lundin, et cetera - you are by far my favorite.
Just sent this to my two grandsons------very well done. Thank you.
Great vid and strait to the point. Great idea of speeding through the tedious parts without cutting the scene. Great job
Dave, you are such a great guy. Thank you for posting/sharing all your knowledge with us!
The videos are perfect, have been perfect, and i'm sure they always will be. Don't change a thing Dave
I've learned so much from watching, then doing, thank you dave, for making a difference.
Don't let them get to you Dave, There is no way to please everyone, If they have questions just ask or better yet go out and try it. Kepp up the great job, Not sure why people find the need to post negitive comments,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for keeping a way of life alive, all the best for you and your family.
These are wonderful videos, I enjoy them all. Thank you Dave.
I thought the first video was great Dave. If you say its wet its wet! Thanks for all you do Dave and God bless!
You really have appreciate Dave re-doing a video like this, though I don't think it was necessary at all. Keep it up, we all really enjoy your videos.
Great Video Dave... I'm sure I speak for many when I say this.. so thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge with us. Always a great watch mate
Cheers
Gracias Dave ! Haces un buen trabajo con tus videos . Le deseo salud y felicidad a ti y a tu familia . Gracias !
FIRE. steamy but Fire. lol
really good videos...watch them very often i wish there were guys like you in austria...
great stuff Dave. My son and i have love you videos you have taught us a lot. thanks Dave

Dave, I have to echo what SergeantSonic said, you don't get mad, you just do it again and BOOM! God bless ya Brother and keep'em coming!!
Please repost the other vid. For those of us who know and love you're vids, we don't question them. We understand that you have to edit for time concerns. What you teach us is invaluable knowledge.
