I bought Drakkar Noir for my boyfriend in 1987... Heaven. Current formulation doesn't thrill me. If any women are reading and they are curious about "male" fragrances, try some out. British Sterling, Aramis Devin smell great on me. I am always willing to try a vintage frag, male or female.
I've been looking at tabac for a while. Must try now. I have some unusual ones I got at an estate sale recently. Jordache Musk is one of them and is so good

I like that you showed some love to a couple of wet shaving products (Tabaco, Fine Accoutrements), as barbershop is such a key scent in the wet shaving scene.
I love fougeres, even though i rarely wear them due to the cold weather here in Norway. However in the summer, or in the weekends after a nice shave NOTHING is better than a couple of sprays of a nice fougere scent. I am 26, so i have not rocked a whole lot. But my favorites are Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza and Chanel Platinum Egoïste, those two scents just make me feel fresh, clean, elegant and masculine. Great video!
You managed to bring me back to the most beautiful smells and times I had in the 80's (Drakkar noir 🔥🔥🔥).Even this week I used Paco Raban just for the nostalgia. nice story about your father, please share us again in the future about him. Thanks 🙏
Asaf Halevy I love Drakkar and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme so much they are great scents, my father was a big influence on classic style men’s cologne since I was younger

My Father favorite was Canoe, I remember him always asking the store clerks, if they had it at drug stores, it was getting harder and harder for him to find., although I don't consider myself a "barber shop" cologne type of guy, in my collection there are two I feel would fall into that category, one being Thallium Black - Yves de Sistelle for men, this is a aromatic, very herbal to my nose, the basil and clary sage are what seem to be the key players, the other one, is Fattan - Rasasi supposedly an Hermes Terre clone, vetiver and grapefruit are the stars in this one. both of these are above average performers for me. Thallium black bottle design is reminiscent of a barber shop pole. minus the red and white stripes.
Magnificent list my dude, my clear favorite is Drakkar Noir. The current formula is my favorite fragrance, period. To me the current formulation conjures up images of sitting in a super leathery smelling barber chair at an old school barbershop with the smell of the shaving soap on your beard.
davey0420 _ that’s a great description, it takes that smooth shave foam / deodorant scent up a notch and tones down the green where as the vintage is the opposite so i I love both versions but the current one is amazing and I enjoy it a lot regardless of reformulation
Wonderful and nostalgic list... The funny thing is that due to my childhood memories of Greek barbershop fragrances, they were related more to the note of neroli. Ferrari bright neroli brings those memories back. My current favorite aromatic fougere is Beau de jour by Tom Ford . It's a masterpiece of modern perfumery. Stay safe, greetings🇬🇷!

Amazing list, dude! Interesting you had the Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui on there. I originally had that on my list for the last video but it got edged out when I decided to do just 8. I own Azzaro ph as well as Paco Rabanne ph. Both excellent but unique on their own. Growing up in the 60s and 70s I also had a flask of British Sterling on my dresser. Right next to my English Leather. I must have been 13! It was a common Christmas give for teen boys back then along with a faux turtle shell brush and comb.. I've embraced my age and stopped testing the sweet and weak aquatics being marketed these days.
My barbershop scents are Drakkar Noir and LeMale. Ik alot wouldnt categorize LeMale as that, but when I smell it, it smells like something a barber in the 1950s wouldve either splashed on your neck or more importantly the pomade in your hair, like a Murrays that I find smell really similar, also Clubman powder
I wore only Le Male for years I wore it to night clubs at the shore and anytime I went out. To work once in a while but I would usually opt for a cheaper alternative for work so as not to waste my more expensive cologne back then
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey the first time I bought it I had to really let it grow on me because it wasnt what I was accustomed to, but man now I have to sniff it every week
Great list as always! There is an eBay store that goes by finescents. He has a scent called “ the cut”. You’d love this one as well. I also get a barbershop vibe from Gucci envy.

I’m from North Jersey . Love to see you do a review on Roja Dove Scandal and Acqua di Parma Quercia. Keep up the work, just became a subscriber
They are out there but harder to find at a decent cost, I’m sure ebay will have a bottle. But American Blend is so nice and very close to rive gauche so it’s a great substitute at a good cost. I do not own either of those scents unfortunately but if I pick them up I will definitely review them. Thank you for watching and commenting Jose !
Really good list - Have you tried CARON pour homme ? or even Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme after shave - still reasonably available and not too expensive - both amazing great quality fougeres
Cryptogoose I have not friend the original pour un homme by Caron but I have the aftershave and edt for Pour Homme by VC&A and I’m not really a fan of that one, it’s a very dusty rose scent to me, I had a sealed unopened in box 3.4oz bottle of it and I gave it away in my channels first giveaway lol. I still have a small 1.7oz aftershave and another 3.4oz Edt. Thank you for watching and commenting dude!
Appreciate the heads up on Fine Accoutrements! My current favs - HdP's 1725, Beau de Jour, Beach Hut Man and the original Azzaro PH. Still looking to try Elite from Floris.
Just Add Light I want to try 1725 I hear it’s a great scent ! Beech hut man is a fougere ? I figured it was a tropical scent, and a friend of mine has elite it’s very nice
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Not at all! Beach Hut is more of a minty green amber scent. Not exactly a fougere in my books but does give off a barbershop vibe. 1725's on the sweet side.
Besto Tom that one is okay I have a small bottle of it, didn’t put it on this list though, it’s almost to powdery vanilla for me, thank you for watching and commenting dude!
Acqua di Parma is the only house (maybe Aramis, also) with which I have never been disappointed. I want to collect all of their male and unisex scents and I don't care what the critics say. They use photorealistic materials that transport me to Italy. I wish I could say that Guerlain could also be trusted likewise.
Bought Pour Lui on ur recommendation. OMG...so amazing. Probably best thing i ever smelled lol. Perfectly balanced...and yeah Drakkar was BEAST mode in the 80s. Women loved it...u could smell it from a mile off. I got new version. Its alright
I picked up AB from your recommendation. Never smelled rive gauche but AB is very nice. Has a shave foam feel and noticeable licorice note which I really enjoy. AB just happens to be my SOTD. 👍👍👍
Great list, own and love many you spoke about. Gotta disagree on Bogart Pour Homme though, I like it even more than signature. You should try Proraso Wood and Spice (if you haven't already). A spicy, oudy cologne for 30 bucks or so.
You know I have always wanted to try that scent from Proraso, but I can’t deal with bogart pour Homme, I thought it was okay a when I first got it but the heavy sweetness is very cloying for me, signature is a amazing! Thank you for watching and commenting dude
Thank you! Early on, I picked up Bogart pour Homme because of the hype and kept it around thinking maybe my nose is not mature enough. I hate the stuff and don't want to give it away and spread the plague. I will look for Signature.
signature is amazing and i did the same thing with bogart pour homme, i wanted to like it but every time i wore it i ended up hating it, i think initially i was just excited about the house of jacques bogart lol

Hey thank you so much for watching and commenting sir ! Merry Christmas to you as well !
I also get a barbershop vibe from Gucci envy.
thomas n is he out of Appleton Wisconsin by chance ?
Yes that’s the man..he offers a lot of creed decants as well👍
thomas n i purchased my 3.4oz bottle of bois du Portugal from him, great seller, and he sent me some samples of his own brand too
A great list. I have my list: Halston Z-14, Azzaro Pour Homme, Lapidus Pour Homme, Bijan Men, One Man Show, Halston 1-12, Victorinox Swiss Army, Polo green, Eau Sauvage, Le Male
Awesome video. Invaluable gems, and I also discovered new ones. Liked and subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed the video thank you for watching and commenting sir !
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey are you of Italian ancestry btw?
@@franm.1959 yes, family originated from Foggia. I was born in the USA though
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey aha! You looked somewhat familiar! My family is from southern Italy as well! Keep up the great work, I am glad I found your channel :)
@@franm.1959 thank you for the kind words !
Just got American blend 3 days ago. In love with it . Been trying to get a bottle of rive gauche for the past 4 months . Can’t find it , probably won’t the way things are looking .
Went ahead and ordered a bottle of Fine AB EDT today, based on this video. Can't wait to try it! Thank you for your insight, Kelan!
ItsAWonderfulKnife oh you are going to enjoy it ! Keep me posted please
Very Nice Brother Kelan.........
Thank you for watching as always terry !
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Your Welcome !!
Stetson is good bro. Great sillage and projection.
Besto Tom that one is okay I have a small bottle of it, didn’t put it on this list though, it’s almost to powdery vanilla for me, thank you for watching and commenting dude!
Something about Stetson aftershave ....the cologne I don't like but the aftershave. Is fucking fantastic
Barbershops my favorite too. Subbed! Please do more!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting dude! Im glad you enjoyed ! barbershop scents are the best! i have a part 2 in the works!
Scents Of South Jersey awesome!
absolutley outstanding -thanks!
Gorgeous list
Love Fougree scents. Perfect listing too. Just missing, Azzaro Pour Homme. :)
Acqua di Parma is the only house (maybe Aramis, also) with which I have never been disappointed. I want to collect all of their male and unisex scents and I don't care what the critics say. They use photorealistic materials that transport me to Italy. I wish I could say that Guerlain could also be trusted likewise.
the original acqua di parma colonia is the best i love that one, i like colonia club and sandalo as well but nothing beats the original
A really good selection thanks, continue like this
L. C. Álvarez thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching and commenting!
Excellent journey such good recommendations.
Thank you for watching and commenting Jose
Authenticity barbershop and very pricy mdci invasion barbare are my favs and looking for more now.
I have invasion of the barbers dua clone but I never wear it really lol . Thank you for watching and commenting dude
That’s great to hear! It’s a very close representation of rice gauche and a great price / high quality ! Thank you for watching and commenting Greg !
In Finland that 150ml Alvarez Gómez Barberia cost like only 18 euros.
Haha I find it interesting to observe the notes that appeal most to every fougere-lover.
Me: Lavender
Dan Naughton (MrSmelly): Patchouli
You (SOSJ): Oakmoss
Phillip Lockhart loll that’s funny and you are correct for me the Moss is the boss!
Just ordered the Alvarez Gomez in the (new?) edp concentration for 17bucks, looking forward to use it!
Another great presentation. Well done. And if I may suggest, for anyone who likes Drakkar Noir, Duc de Vervins, by Houbigant is a must-try.
TheScottishoats the greener more mature Drakkar noir ! I love it I have the L’Extreme and original enjoy both, great suggestion
Do you review on Fragrantica? If so, what name are you? I am RobbieX. Must get some more Tabac. If AB is like Rive Gauche - I want it. DK is superb - BUT Dakar EDP I think is just as good. Ihave got (or had) most of these and you are spot on. Thanks a lot
Great video and nice lineup, BUT talking about 80's powerhouse, Italian barbershop fragrances, you forgot the most prominent one:
Azzaro pour Homme. How is this not on this list?
I recently made a 10 Fougere fragrance list and azzaro pour Homme was on that one, if you love barbershop style definitely check that list out. Thank you for watching and commenting dude
👑♥Pacco Rabanne Pour Homme❤👑I saw in another one of your videos that you said Lomani pour homme was very similar to Drakkar. I am currently on the hunt for a bottle and can't wait to try it. Thanks for the recommendations
Tom Ford Beau du Jour for me is one of my favorite barbershops due to the incredible performance and sillage I get from it. One of the most complimented fragrances I have. I have a bottle of Rive Gauche about 50% full and it is just the king imho
Saluti, ottimo lavoro! Subscribed Chief!
Great list ✌🏽
Thank you for watching and commenting Carlito !
You should give brut spray cologne a try, it’s super barbershoppy smelling.
I have a vintage bottle of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme ... absolutely amazing.
Acqua di Selva is on my list now. Thanks
One of the best classic Italian green barbershop fougere’s, I have the body spray on the way I finally found a seller who has it
Great top 10 👍👏
Thank you for watching and commenting! Glad you enjoyed
Tabac... Just the best edt i ever smelled. Just fantastic.

whats your best cheap cologne mate, this is all 2 much i just want 1 so it might aswel be the best
Uomo by Moschino
Bro I love this list thanks
Solomon's Vineyard thank you sir !
Great list, K! all these are amazing scents. i just can't get down with 99% of modern fragrances - all the ones on your list (except the 2 I haven't tried) are gold standards of mens classics. OAKMOSS > ambroxan,.
Hayden Strait couldn’t have said it better myself OAKMOSS > Ambroxan 😂🤣🤣thank you for watching Hayden!
Oakmoss makes everything better. Ambroxan cancels out ALL other notes in any fragrances. I just get a chemical assault.
I have American Blend and it’s great. Fougere is my favorite type of scent. I also have Paco Rabanne.
I enjoy your content man and your always looking fresh🦾
Thanks for watching and commenting dude!
Great list
Thank you for watching and commenting!
where can I pick up agua de colonia alvarez gomez? Been looking for a while and it's either way too expensive or looks sketchy lol. Great video
What’s the best performing one from this list?
AKA “Guido does colognes, yo.” 😳😆🤣😂
Seriously, nice “old school” list! 👍🏼😉
😂🤌🏻🇮🇹
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey No offense meant, a’ight? ✌🏼😉😆🇵🇷
Greeting from indonesia bro, nice list
Glad you enjoyed, thank you for watching and commenting!
Great list as usual bro. Check out Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme....excellent soapy fougere
That’s a great scent and is another one my dad wore, he actually got me a bottle for Christmas years ago and I finished it but I was too young to really appreciate it so I need to go back and revisit that scent. Thank you for watching and commenting dude!
Late to the party 🎉
Great list Big K, I still gotta try American Blend. If u say it’s similar then I believe you.
My top 10 list in no particular order would be:
Rive gauche
MDCI invasion Barbare
Azzaro pour homme
Dior Eau Sauvage
ADP Colonia
Tom Ford Beau de jour
Epsilon blu Mediterranean aftershave (great performance for after shave)
Polo green
At the barbers MM
Masculin Pluriel MFK
And I’m gonna throw a curve ball and go with Creed’s Viking
TheHonestjbone that’s a great line up, I want to try invasion barbare I have the dua version, but I got a nice size sample of creed Viking and it was so floral almost like potpourri that’s what I was reminded of, the scent didn’t fit the name I felt lol
Scents Of South Jersey really?!?!?? Oh man I get like a peppermint almost cooling menthol thing? Like unmmm tiger balm! Spicy! Try out that epsilon! Menthol aftershave GREAT performance I decant it into a spray bottle.
How long would you say that tabac lasts
It’s not bad at least 5 hours but it’s so cheap it’s no big deal
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey or by the way i did subscribe...
@@ianjacob1955 thank so much for the support Ian !
How long does tabac last
I’d say in the 5 hour range but you can just apply a ton of it. Thank you for watching and commenting dude
