In my phone (Xiomi Poco) permissions there are no "storage", only ""files and media". And when i tap on it, only media is allowed.... But it works! Thank you! 4 days of struggling- done! Now starting to stragle with Viber. ...

Can i connect my google drive to whatsapp to backup my whatsapp there?

Does this work in reverse? I have been struggling, moving from Huawei Mate 50 Pro to Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I have tried quite a number of options and most want to work when one is moving from Android to Huawei with no Google Services.
This method doesn't work for me as I am unable to download smart transfer on my huawei Nova 9 and also unable to find storage tab on downloading watsap on it.

Did you get the backup found screen after you logged into your new gms phone? I get nothing
