Katana is a great amp...especially the artist series, but when it comes to metal the Blackstar takes the lead any day.

Great demo , definitely captures a more in the room feel and sound for a demo without colouring the sound
I have the Deluxe Silverline Head and 2 X 12 cabinet as well as TVP 260 , TVP 30 and TVP15 amps which I have upgraded speakers in the 2 smaller ones ( definitely a personal thing there for the individual ) but kept the originals in my 260 TVP as they sound great as they are as
Like many others I’m sure I have too many other amps however I keep coming back to the TVP stuff time and time again as they really sound great without the valve drawbacks regarding the science behind getting the volume and wattage just right and aligned to find that sweet spot
These amps really sit perfectly bridging the gap between the cost of high end digital ( Fractal , Helix, Kemper etc… ) and Valve / Tube to my ears
I’ve had a Fender Mustang 3 V2 and Boss Katana 100 and the Katana vs Blackstar comparison is overhyped and probably more of a big corporate advertising budget flooding the market gaining attention than an actual quality product comparison and although they have some great features within and obviously have a place in the market however i feel like they’re missing mainly that vital Tube feel connection so for my money the Blackstar TVP with the newer Architect software with some great features such as cab rig that has replaced the outdated Insider and also the emulated line out for recording just keeps me coming back time and time again

Thanks! Very well said. I think the TVP series didn't get enough praise that it deserved. I'm curious on your thoughts comparing the Silverline vs the TVP as I have both and think the TVP sounds way better. Not sure if you saw the silverline video I made but here's the link to it

      Hey there
Yep totally agree the Silverline Head ( and Cab ) definitely feels different and nowhere near as rich and full as the my original ID 260 TVP . The speakers in the 260 really are voiced brilliantly for that amp and stay so clean and uncoloured when cranking the volume playing live so you can have the confidence of consistency wherever you play by simply adjusting resonance and presence at different venues if required ( the ID 30 and 15 with the Celestion V 30 and Greenback 10” speakers that I swapped I feel really did make a change for the better for these smaller practice amps for home use and practice but that is an easily reversible experiment and as I already had the speakers … why not try ?
I probably need to spend more time with the Silverline and Cabinet but if I had the chance right now I would swap it for a used older TVP head to use as back up to sit on top of the TVP 260 should it ever fail at a gig
I live in New Zealand and this kind of gear is pretty rare to find as it’s a way smaller market here unless you want to go for international shipping costs which are just crazy money to get “down under” hence the reason for trying the Silverline but definitely still a nice amp but when Silverline is side by side with the TVP stuff definitely it only takes the “Silver” medal whereas TVP “Gold” medal and 1st choice every time for me at this point ( pardon the pun but it makes the point I hope )
Either one compared to Katana is a way better feeling and sounding amp . You get what you pay for and these do cost more but I feel you get a better experience. Katana is promoted as a bang for your buck amp which is definitely where it shines . I love my tube amps but always trying to find a sweet spot amongst other limitations to getting everything working well in all environments creates a barrier sometimes and Blackstar TVP and Silverline can really fill in the gap where you just know it’s gonna do it’s job and put a smile on your face and not worry about the Valve / Solid State debate and just enjoy playing a great feeling and sounding amp ………….at the end of the day , that’s all that matters isn’t it ?
      Cheers mate
