Each & everyone of us is blessed with a different kind of talent & He says to share that with others. You inspired me so much with your video. I learned some cool ideas from your work. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!! Love your video & you .
Samara, thank you so much for taking time to make a video and share your talents and abilities! It is sad that there are so many people who have to find reasons to complain about insignificant petty little things. I admire you for taking it in stride. Again, thank you for sharing your art. I am very grateful!
I really, really, enjoyed watching you create your pages...they turned out great ..I can't wait to try this, I just need a couple of things to accomplish it...thank you so much for sharing your time and efforts, I'm so looking forward to more of your videos in the future ...stay creative :-)
Great page and good ideas! Dripping paint/ink down the page is one of my favorite thingd to do. I like how you watered down the paint for the background and used the shelf liner for the stamp.
oh, whew. i was watching that one spot and thought you were going to miss it. lol. love watching these kinds of videos. you have a new subscriber. thank you for the ideas :)
This is beautiful and very inspirational! I am so upset to read in these comments and see that people within the art community would attack others for different expressions of art than their own. =[ However, I love your video and instructions thank you so much for sharing your talent! Lots of love!
I think this is really pretty! The shade of turquoise works well with the ink. You know how in video games you know you're going in the right direction when a bunch of monsters show up? Yeah, life is like that. They say you're doing things right when you get "haters." So I guess that tells you something.
This was so fun to watch! I use a lot of this techniques in my acrylic paintings ^_^ I´ve never tried art journaling before, but it looks so fun... Think I have to try :D Thanks :)
Thanks so much Samara. I am very much still on my L's and have been spending most of my time researching technique........ Enjoyed the different techniques you have used and found your tutorial easy to follow, clear and well presented. Karina. Sydney. Australia:)
absolutely love this. will definitely be starting an art journal during half term. also if you want to add another layer you could paint through lace as well as sequin hole punched. thank you so much for this tip. :)
Strange how threatened some are by your realness and vulnerability. I enjoyed this and love the coptic stitch journal, it lies so flat. Thanks for sharing.
I love using the craft paints because of their level of transparency. You can put a layer of gesso on before the paint and that helps to make the words less visible also. I'm one of those people that cringe whenever I see books being torn, but I'd rather people find some use for them than them being stuck on shelves getting dust. To each their own. Thanks for sharing your work with us. Nice job!
I loved the video....I would love to see what you create as a "finished" piece....I agree that I thought that the page techniques itself was the creation.....beautiful!!!!
Hi Samara, Thanks so much for sharing these great texture techniques! I was wondering where you got your sequin waste? I would LOVE to get my hands on some of that!! Thank you. :-) Hugs, Nicole
I got my sequin waste at a small store in Arizona called Mystic paper. You can find it all over though. There are several Etsy stores as well as other stores that sell it. I also want to say that Scarlet Lime sells a texture grab bag including sequin waste.
Hi Samara. Thank you so much for your video. I just found you today and after watching this, I have subscribed to your channel. I am totally new to art - have been making jewelry for a few years but have been afraid to pick up a paintbrush or pencil! What are those crayon/paint things you use? Them seem much less intimidating to me than regular paint.
hiya thanks for the video - great idea. i'm having problems finding the right pens to write onto art work. Is it the pen or the medium that I'm using do you think? do you use special pens or pencils to write on the medium or do you prepare it so that you can write on it?
Really enjoyed the video. Purchased an antique French history book by Jules Verne for the book covers (to be used for a future visual journal) and was wondering what I could do with the pages, since they are too fragile to reuse them whole. I'm still in the learning stages; I will be watching ALL your videos :-)
Wow! I love this video. Everywhere I go, I'm always looking for things that will make good stencils etc. Where do you get your sequin waste? I have had so many people look at me as if I've grown a second head. It's starting to becom a joke with my friends! Help!!!
I believe the paint crayons she's using are Caran d' Ache Neocolor II water-soluble crayons, they aren't exactly watercolor crayons. I use them myself, and they're just wonderful--and available on Amazon.com
I haven't had too much problem with heat drying. I use rapid back and forth sweeps and don't allow the paint to get too hot. Also, the paint I'm using was somewhat watered down.
Are you quite certain you aren't ripping up a bible? Lol... j/k. Thank you for sharing. Very pretty, but what did you do NEXT? I have done some pages with dark colors (like the drips) or with crazy texture, but i don't know what to do then! :/
there are many other videos too that could help you to come up with creative idea :) i personally usually write some lame quotes in fancy letters. or you could glue on something. like stamps as i did once. or dark silhouettes ... if you add to much texture it will look great without anything else
I wish i had youtube when i was doing my fine art in college, so many different techniques to borrow. Good video, but i care not for what brand of paint you use or what type of brush. I do hope people are inspired, not just plain copying.
@Wildirish67 You could also get this: Crafter's Workshop Punchinella Template (it's not letting me link up to it.) You can find it at Donna Downey Studies or many other places.
why did you use a antique dictionary? couldnt have a newspaper worked just as well? Its not like it makes a difference after its all covered up with paint and stuff.... just sayin....
personally, i think it would have been better to left the dictionary pages whole so you can still read some of it, that would be a cool idea too ... just sayin! :)
Loved the page, the different textures AND that you fast forwarded to honor our time watching this. Thank you so much for posting!

I thought you did a wonderful job on these pages and really motivated me to work on my journal today! Thanks so much for sharing!

This background is very fun. I like making the paint run at the top too. Thank you for sharing!
What did you use to make the black drip? Was it just watered up paint in a spray bottle?
This was so fun to watch! I use a lot of this techniques in my acrylic paintings ^_^
I´ve never tried art journaling before, but it looks so fun... Think I have to try :D
Thanks :)
Great background and super awesome video! Looking forward to seeing more!

I love all your art journal pages. Inspires me to adopt some of your techniques for my scrap booking
That looks so awesome, I love it! :D

I love this! Looks like a lot of things that I do. I would just recommend using more colors to make the overall look more rich.
I loved the video and the background. I'd love to see your finished page
I love the video. Gives me lots of inspiration and ideas!
hiya thanks for the video - great idea. i'm having problems finding the right pens to write onto art work. Is it the pen or the medium that I'm using do you think? do you use special pens or pencils to write on the medium or do you prepare it so that you can write on it?

So clever! thank you for showing your great work ...
what a lovely background!
Thank you so much!
Violette
this is really good really different from what ive done before but this is really good to see so that i can try new things and switch it up
Used this for my gcse art book, thank you :-)
I love this page, one question though. When you heat dry the folk art paint doesn't it get sticky? it did on mine.
Oh, just ignore the hater comments. This background was fabulous! I love how it turned out. Where did you get the punchella stuff?
I love the background. I just hate to see someone tear up a book.
very awesome !! thanks for sharing!
This was really helpful, thank you :)
Awesome background!
great video Samara ! cheers Jo (downunder)
I wouldn't care if it was...if anything it would lend that much more to the art.
nice, personally i loved it when you added the yellow. after, it kinda got messy but good job
I believe the paint crayons she's using are Caran d' Ache Neocolor II water-soluble crayons, they aren't exactly watercolor crayons. I use them myself, and they're just wonderful--and available on Amazon.com
What kind of journal is this for the paper to handle all of that?
I haven't had too much problem with heat drying. I use rapid back and forth sweeps and don't allow the paint to get too hot. Also, the paint I'm using was somewhat watered down.
Amazing keep it up and do you
What kind of dryer are you using?
LOVE THIS..............THANKS
what is that crayon paint thing I want... and wow I love this page...
Are you quite certain you aren't ripping up a bible? Lol... j/k. Thank you for sharing. Very pretty, but what did you do NEXT? I have done some pages with dark colors (like the drips) or with crazy texture, but i don't know what to do then! :/
Great page!
Samara, you rock!
I can't help it. I love books. Printed words are my pals.
did you dry the pages with a heat gun?
You can use an Xacto blade to cut the pages out of the book.
this is a nice TUT. quite helpful.

i love this
i love it!! you are so creative!!
Yes, they are Caran de' Ache Neocolor II - They are totally amazing! :)
Wow.
are the crayon paints wax?
😍😍
wow
Actually the book was damaged when I purchased it. It was purchased for the whole purpose of using it for art. Again, this is a personal choice.
Again, personal choice. In your journal, you pick what you want to use.
A Bible = the first thing I thought of trying it on.
how did you make the journal?
Thanks for this! :)
@Wildirish67
You could also get this: Crafter's Workshop Punchinella Template (it's not letting me link up to it.) You can find it at Donna Downey Studies or many other places.
Wow, I like this. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks :)
Love
I agree with you.
What is the glue that she use??
I forgot to add inspiring:)
he i did a page like this in my art journal using the same technique as you.. i totally gave you credit though so dont worry
No. They are dictionary pages.
And Und3der ground king, no, Crayola wouldn't work--they're definitely NOT water-soluble.
thank you for your reply.
why did you use a antique dictionary? couldnt have a newspaper worked just as well? Its not like it makes a difference after its all covered up with paint and stuff.... just sayin....
I have an idea, in your journal, use what you want.
@Wildirish67
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Nice
No, they need to be water soluble.
I ordered mine through Etsy by searching for punchella or sequin waste. It is very inexpensive.
personally, i think it would have been better to left the dictionary pages whole so you can still read some of it, that would be a cool idea too ... just sayin! :)
I used Matte Medium.
It was matte medium. :)
I am not, but I am sensitive to misused expressions.
The title is misleading, you should change it to "Ruined Mess Journaling: Textured backgrounds"
are you ripping bible pages
MAKIN MOVIES
MAKIN SONGS AND
FIGHTIN' ROUND THE WORLD
@Wildirish67
I was able to get mine from a little store in the middle of Arizona. I found some online sources for you.
bluepink.com/punchinella.html
and even if.... so shes coming to hell now, or what?? :)
Hahaha. Really it isn't a Bible, promise.
