His career was cut short due to injury, had he have continued racing injury free he would have gone down as one of the best Australian racehorses since Pharlap. Think about this, no other Australian trained race horse has won a prestigious international group 1 race since Better Loosen Up. Even So You Think could not replicate this kind of performance. BLU has the highest time form rating of any Australian trained horse in the modern era It is just a shame that BLU is almost forgotten in discussions about past greats.
@@Progamble So true. BLU is the only Australian horse to beat the world's best at the "Olympics" of horse racing at the time - the Japan Cup. Something that neither Winx, BC, Diva and even Kingston Town ever did. The only Aussie horse to go overseas and win the world's richest race was Phar Lap and the field he faced was not in the same league as what BLU faced in Japan. BLU's Japan Cup win is the greatest achievement by an Australian horse on the world stage.
At his peak he would have defeated Winx. He was almost unbeatable on a dry track. The only Australian horse to win the Japan Cup and at a non ideal distance of 2400m. At 2000m he was untouchable at his peak.
Thanks for uploading this! The Bryan Martin call doesn't exist anywhere on UA-cam. A shame they chose to split the screen with a couple of inconsequential overs of cricket.
The one and only Better Loosen Up. Thank you for uploading this.

Can't disagree.
He was still getting better when injury got him, he might have been the goat if he’d stayed sound.
Feehan, Turnbull, Cox Plate, McKinnon, Japan Cup. That's what you call owning the spring
enroute to the 1990/91 horse of the year
About as good as Craiglee, Underwood, Turnbull, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate but a long way behind Rising Fast in 1954
@@onedingshort Japan Cup is a bigger race and a higher quality field than what Rising Fast ever faced or won.
He beat a world class field, some awesome European horses he beat
Awesome upload Paul
Had to take even money at the Tab, started 30/1 on track. This horse is the best ever. Better than Tulloch and Phar Lap, and they were alright.
2.20 nsw tab ...6/1 on track...30s you are having a laugh..virtually unbeatable at his peak
@666dr David Hayes is on the record saying he got that price. May not have been on race day however, I just assumed that.
@@benjaminglover1570amazing if he did
Quite a firm track

It did exist in Australasian racing review
