- Three members of the Portland Police Bureau spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon to share personal experiences while working the front lines of Portland protests.
They say too many resources are dedicated to nightly riots, and not to crimes elsewhere in the city.

I get it, I saw the news in Cali where the news put a really negative spin on people gathering in an open park (socially distanced) for worship on a Sunday. I just love when so many just ignore the idea that protests in Portland are what causes the covid cases in Oregon to rise. I've lived in this city since my family moved out here in 1978. I love the people of this city no matter who they are no matter where they're from or what side of the political spectrum they're on. I love the eccentric eccentricity of this city, I love the parks and scenery, I love the local businesses. And it's because of this that I grieve for this city. I genuinely believe that Portland has unlimited potential for greatness. these rioters (they're not protestors) are doing nothing for this city. they're only smashing things because they themselves have no sense of purpose. This may seem rather radical, but in my humble opinion espcially now with the 70 + nights of rioting Ted Wheeler and the entire Portland City Council need to be Constitutionally removed and replaced. I recognize that not everyone likes who's in the White House currently. But this situation here in Portland is bigger than any of us. I genuinely believe it's time to take back the Downtown and the city from these rioters, It's time to once again unleash Portland's unlimited [potential for greatness. Understand I say these things not out of hatred, anger of rage but because I love Portland and I want to see us be great again.
I feel the same way about Seattle. It used to be so beautiful. But I saw this coming and I moved to very rural Oregon in 2016. So glad I did. 💔

They Judge our protest's by its most violent members, however they refuse to let anyone judge their police department by it's most violent offenders. Sounds like the voice of and oppressor to me. I have lived here for 50+ years, and the P.P.B. is particularly egregious when it comes to brutality, and violating civil, and constitutional rights. The people of Portland are not going back to the way things were. We built this city, and we will tear it down, before we go back to being intimidated, and terrorized by our own police.

Protestors and political left: This issue, like all things these days, has become polarized. You are trying to maintain a "peaceful protest" narrative while the political right is using that against you and the people engaged in this necessary movement. Not owning this movement, and calling it what it is, will ultimately be its downfall. Drop the "peaceful protest" narrative and call yourselves the "warriors" and "patriots" that you are. Call this the "war on injustice" that it is. Explain to your fellow patriots on the political right that you are exercising your constitutional right to engage in war against your government (this includes police departments and federal buildings), and that this is a fight against a tyrannical and unjust policing system protected by corrupt unions whose sole purpose are to protect police officers from prosecution no matter what. While your individual causes are all valid, you must stop the infighting and focus on a clearly stated common goal. That goal is a complete overhaul of a broken policing system and justice for its countless fallen victims all races, not to mention the homeless and mentally ill.
Political right: Drop the "terrorist" and "anarchist" narratives and remember that "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." The forefathers of our nation who waged the same kind of violent protest as these warriors here could be and have been called 'terrorists" just as well.
