I enjoy you so much, I been cleaning for three weeks, trying to get my apartment clean. I am 74 and NEVER new how to clean until I went on UA-cam. Love you so much, I tell everyone abaut your show. I like cleaning.
I did this at an apartment I lived in a few years ago. My roommates would never do the dishes, and most of the dishes didn’t belong to any of us, just left there from previous residents, so one day I threw about 3/4 of them away. Nobody even noticed and the dishes became much more manageable.
@@ethanray265 not technically. Tossing it all in their room takes way less time than organizing & cleaning does, & it also proves a point that they need to be responsible for themselves ;)
I always using bleach with soapy water to wash floors & clean bathroom . I know that bleach is not a cleaner itself but it gives this shiny cleaning look. My bad habit is watching a cleaning videos for about an hour to get motivated to start cleaning my home! I think this is too waste of time !! But I really get motivated to clean after watching!
I have to say I love your delivery and relaxed nature in front of the camera. I learn so many great tips and I watch longer to see what ideas you have. Well done.
I completely agree! I’ve learned so much. There are many videos about organization that might include some cleaning tips but these videos provide in-depth info about cleaning which I love !!
when I use the liquid detergent cup, I empty the soap into the dispenser, then toss the soapy cup in with the laundry :) no more sticky cup or sticky ring left :}
Stace Carman ......I was using "Liquid" too, but...Target has these Clear contain-er's, that some may call a cookie jar. The particular one's have the Lid(silver) on the front, which is Great !! They are inexpensive. Then, buy a package of Pod's(Laundry- Detergent Pod's) then put them in the Container. I was tired of the MESS, and Hassel's of the Liquid !!! I'm getting one of those Container's to put under the Kitchen Sink, for the Dishwasher Pod's also !! They have the Large and the Smaller Container's. There is Only "2" of us, so the SMALL one's are Perfect....
My bad habit is shopping nearly daily! I collect anything that's on sale and sentimental things! I'm working on it but I can't do it alone. My partner is helping by removing everything from our closets so I can have a clear understanding how far I have gone. I love anything with a vintage feel. This is hard but you have motivated me. Thank you!
I disagree... In college we did a experiment(nursing) by cleaning a toilet with... Vinegar....then Scrubbing bubbles..then dawn...then bleach... We tested swabs for germs...build up...actual cleaning of dirt urine and fecal matter..etc. Bleach does the best on all the above... Vinegar as well.. Dawn and scrubbing bubbles did well preliminarily but bacteria and build up was a issue after a few hours. The clorox wipes did very well for surfaces... Just not for inside the toilet or inside the shower...because obviously theyre not big enough or hold enough product..but bleach is the best killer of mold mildew etc
She said, that it disinfects. But it does not really clean. It is not really made for that, so if you use it, you should also do more than just dumping it into the toilet.
What has helped me to clean is to pick one day a week to do nothing but strip my beds and wash sheets dust vacuum and clean bathrooms and throw out clutter. I clean on Fridays and I think my family really appreciates it.
Stacy Paige I'm the same! And also have a 3 year old. When she was a baby i would stay up late to clean and fold laundry etc but now it's just a bad habit i cant fight
Man I know this is an old comment and video, but I’m in the same boat! I had no idea there was others like me! I’ve always stayed up late and I don’t know how to break it. I also have a 3 year old and I’m currently pregnant with #2. 😩😩😩
Sara Ferguson i take benedryl every night for insomnia, it works great. I was using Zzquil until someone pointed out generic benedryl is the same exact ingredient for cheaper!
Really enjoy this channel. For myself, I try to focus on economy of movement. Meaning not walking from room to room putting items away. Try to do everything in the room you are in and when you leave that room then take those items to where they belong. It is easy to get distracted especially going from room to room.
Melissa I have a tip. I have been doing this for a decades and it really works. For musty sponges or dish cleaning cloth: After using the sponge or dishcloth, make sure it is clean of debris and then put some dish soap on/in the cloth or sponge and squeeze it out but leave that soap sitting in the sponge/cloth. It will discourage mildew growth. If you leave some soap in the sponge while it sits you will be surprised how much less bacteria grows. It has always worked for me.
I haven't used bleach since I started watching your videos about making your own cleaning solutions . I absolutely love watching and learn from your videos, thank you so much for your guidance in cleaning!!
Between the 5 cats & 2 "grandogs," sometimes paper towels are a must. I'm not cleaning cat puke with special fancy cleaning cloths . There are other things I know my family & I can make the switch for. I don't use bleach often, because I don't like the smell, & I worry that it will splash onto me & ruin my clothing , or any other fabric or surface. I've found washcloths, hand towels, & bath towels ruined from the younger family members thinking it was ok to use them to clean/wipe when using bleach or a product that had bleach in it. :(
A tip for magazines or even Cook book declutering: it's OK to rip out the pages you wanna use and throw away the rest of the magazine. You can put the pages in a folder. Saves space AND you get to keep that indpiring article or recepie you love.
If you want to save articles from old magazines, get a 2 inch binder and a pack of paper sleeves. Whenever you get your next magazine in the mail, clip out the articles you want to keep and slip them in the sleeves or glue them on yardstick so you can still reference them if you're so inclined. This is really nice for recipes. Or, to save space for the more technically inclined, scan it and create a folder for your scanned articles. If you'd like something simpler that you can hold at your fingertips, the OfficeSuite and OfficeSuite Pro apps allow you to take a photo of an image and flatten it to create several types of documents.
Uhohhhh I loveeee Clorox foaming spray bleach !!!! It’s my go to product o: also if you have old magazines that aren’t too junked up, think about donating them to a nursing home! I work with dementia patients and they love flipping through magazines and news papers! 😇😇😇
Kirsty Macfarlane Start with clothes Then with books/magazines Then with paper, documents, and letters Then odds and ends (paper clips, pencils etc) Then tools and electronics Lastly sentimental items in that order. It isn't about what to throw away but what to keep. Then donate the rest. It will take a lot of time, (it did for me). But at least you know where to start lol
Rolande Theriault put a basket on the island, let the basket control the amount of clutter. Once the basket is full, put the items away. If the item doesn't have a "home" in your home, decide if you have to keep it. If you do, then find it a "home", not a junk drawer or closet. If you don't, then toss it.
Kristy Macfarlane.. try looking up “ Flylady”.. she is great.. teaches about organization in a non-judgemental realistic way .. “ Jump in where you are”. And also a proponent of “ 15 mins at a time”. She always says “ you can do anything for 15 minutes” ... also breaks things down into weekly zones! She’s great!
I have a horrible habit of not folding and putting away laundry when I do it. It's the one thing I hate doing the most. Not that it's easier by any means but I'd rather just push clothes around in a basket to look for a top or bottoms then to stand there folding them.
Jamie McGonagle I have that same habit but I am not going to break it lol I keep the clothes in a laundry bag and put them away in 2-3 days and I'm ok with that
I don't like matching socks or folding underwear, so that usually stays in the basket several days....I eventually get to them, but never right away. other clothes, though....I either hang up or fold while they're still warm - helps eliminate wrinkles so I don't have to iron as much. I even made a shirt folding board (made 2 - 1 for my son, 1 for myself). I have ulnar neuropathy & nerve damage in both arms, so the board helps me get things folded neatly.
I gave up on folding clothes because I. Just. Hate. It! Bought tonnes of Ikea Mulig bars, drilled them to the wall, and as soon as my clothes come out of the dryer, I hang them all up. Socks and undies are just tossed into a basket. I only fold beddings, towels, and wiping clothes.
After a shower, I attach my non-slip bath mat to the tub wall to dry. Just stick a few rows of those grippy things to the wall, and the mat will dry in no time flat! Great videos, by the way, Melissa!
The bad habit I need to break this year is not maintaining. I clean a surface and swear to myself I'm going to keep it clean then it's dirty again a few weeks later. I'm hoping to find a weekly cleaning schedule that works for me.
Clean as you go and you'll have the self-cleaning house. Once a day I set a timer for ten minutes, I can stand it for ten minutes, and clean. I never clean by a schedule. It's worked way better to ask myself what one thing bothers me the most and do that. Yes I leave jobs half done until tmoro.
I use paper towels. I tried micro-fiber cloths, but I have two problems with them. 1. I never have enough for a single washer load, so I get lazy and throw them in with regular towels. I use softener with my towels, so the clothes stop being absorbent. 2. My daughter and grandsons live with us and use them for grungy spills (no matter how many times I tell them not to). But, I will try again. Oh, I forget my reusable shopping bags too. I do have one tip for you that I learned from my mom "never leave a room empty-handed". No clutter or messy surfaces because every time I go from one room to another, I scan the room and take anything that does not belong and put it away. Love your channel.
I just found your channel and I LOVE IT!! So many great tips and inspiration. I've subscribed and now I'm going to BUY some of your cloths, not only because I just ran out of paper towels and was JUST lamenting that I blow through so many (and it does feel wasteful), but also because I was to SUPPORT your business and ethos. Good for you, and thanks!
Clorox claims that their wipes clean and disinfect. I will use them some, especially for touch up, and they are very wet. they do a great job of getting off dirt and grime.
This! My fiance constantly talks trash about my art room "clutter" but I actually do USE everything I have. I have sewing stuff and all different kinds of paints and art stuff, as well as writing materials. I'm an artist and a writer so I use it all for different things. To me I have everything organized so I know where it is when I reach for it... to him it looks like a cluttered mess. I'm not entirely sure how to make it LOOK organized.
I never use a sponge. I use the microfiber cloths in the kitchen and change them out every day. Of course doing that I have to have a large supply of microfiber cloths.
THANK you for pointing out the difference between clean and sanitary (or disinfected) People don't believe me when I say an item can be dirty, but can also be sanitary at the same time.
Just tuned in and I love the helpful fresh ideas. My 2 bedroom apartment is at least 50 years old and I am constantly trying to find new ways to deal with broken down this or that, and no storage space for a growing family of four. Please continue to inform us and mabey add something for apartment thearopy.
I know it’s 2020, but I’m working on getting my house organized and everything needs a place or it’s out. My biggest bad habit is covering surfaces with stuff. My bar and table has had stacks of crap for quite some time now and that ends ASAP!
Not filing papers right away is my worst bad habit I think anyway. I really dislike filing. I just let it pile up and problem with that is that I've moved my office into my dining room. We rarely eat at the table, we mostly use the breakfast nook to eat. I'm good at recycling junk mail and I've gone paperless for all of our bills that have that option and we also have autopay where available. I still seem to get a lot of correspondence that needs filing and I set it aside thinking I'll do it...anyway that's my deal.
One of my cleaning bad habbits is going all over the place in my house and yard. I need to focus on one room at a time. My worst is "I'll do it later" thinking.
YES! I have a clean laundry bed. This is a bed that clean laundry gets dumped on when I need something that is in the clean laundry bag that I did not fold.
I am REALLY bad about using paper towels to clean, especially the stove top, cuz I hate having greasy towels or cleaning cloths in the laundry. However, I do offset my bad habit by recycling a LOT (always have 3X more recycling than trash).
When I am done frying something on the stove that is oily, I like to spray it with all purpose spray first and then use paper towels, then a cloth. The paper towels just suck up the grease like magic. My new habit is, I am going to try and handwash more of my tops, they will last so much longer that way.
Yes, I use bleach. For laundry and for disinfecting. Not for cleaning. Glad to hear you make the distinction. So many people confuse spray bleach with spray and wipe cleaner. Not the same things at all.
I've worked in a hospital laboratory for 44 years, and BLEACH IS NOT A CLEANER! Using it in hot water negates it's disinfectant properties. It will kill germs in a 10% solution with cold water, but will do nothing to remove dirt and soap scum. There are so many good products on the market; use them instead!
I've been told by multiple doctors that bleach will only disinfect a surface once all the organic matter that was on it has been removed, so the surface needs to be CLEANED first before using bleach to disinfect it. Now, instead of using bleach to clean, I use straight hydrogen peroxide for most surfaces. It's super cheap (I buy it by the case off Amazon), loosens gunk, and kills germs and bacteria. I even got rid of the pink/orange mold that kept forming in my toilet bowls by cleaning the toilet as usual, pouring 16 oz. of hydrogen peroxide into the tank, flushing, waiting a while (15-30 minutes or so), then repeating the hydrogen peroxide treatment two more times. My reasoning was that each time the toilet was flushed when mold was present, spores were probably aerosolizing and floating up into the channel under the rim, then multiplying inside the channel the water flows through under the rim where the brush can't reach; each flush was probably washing a whole new batch of spores into the bowl. So my aim was to kill spores that might be living in that channel. I did that five years ago, and the pink/orange mold has never come back. I do sometimes have other types of mold that form around the edge of the water in my guest bathroom toilet bowl if it isn't used for a few months, so just I repeat this in there if I see that happening.
Our children are grown but I still cook everyday for a family rather than the two of us and with the best of intentions store leftovers "for lunches".... That never happen. My husband said our fridge is like digging for treasure so beginning of the new year...I am trying to make smaller meals. Our fridge has always been a source of contention so happy that less waste and less frustration could be this simple! Thank you for my daily inspirations!! Blessings from Azerbaijan
My good friend purchased a small plastic basket she puts in an inconspicuous place in her bathroom where they throw wet washcloths until they are laundered-and end up drying in the process. I adopted the idea and love it!
I'm a "SQUIRREL!" cleaner... I'll start micro-organizing in the middle of doing big stuff first and then realize I'm behind my plan. THEN I start heaping stuff in general vicinity of where it needs to go and sometimes don't get to it. I live in a studio apartment; 25-30% s dedicated to my sewing/quilting hobby and storage and I can get overrun especially in the middle of a project..
“A pile of Mail, 6 books, a bottle of wine....” for a brief moment I was sure she was looking at me standing next to my breakfast bar, that she just described in detail. 😱😂
Have been following you two for years, love what you do. My bad habit is keeping old study notes. I've gone through with the first cull and about to do the FINAL RUTHLESS CULL of it all. Anything I really really want I'll be prepared to scan and store digitally using Evernote, with backup. If I don't want to do that I won't use it and its rental lease is up! They are up to 21 years old!!! Ridiculous. Looking forward to having all that space.
It is now 2018 and I'm just finding you! So inspiring. I am minimalizing and right now working in the kitchen. I have just realized I hold onto old lids and containers to the point that if the world runs out...I'll have you covered.
I rarely use Clorox bleach because it is hard on clothes and I don't like the harmful chemicals. I do keep a small bottle on hand to soak my mops in to keep them from getting smelly. If you have an alternative to that please let me know.
Aaaaaaaand I'm watching this video when I should REALLY clean the house (we're selling and it is a mess...), while baby is sleeping and 4 years old is at his grandma's and grandpa's house......... *rolling eyes*
Me too! Except not granite!! I ruined my granite counter over a few years :(( so what I do now is a mixture in a pray bottle of half rubbing alcohol & half purified water for the granite counters! No essential oils unfortunately bc they're acidic & break down the materal, but yes! It works well to break down grease too :)
Whats a good water to vinegar ratio for spray cleaning? Also I know Apple cider vinegar is amazing but does it matter which white vinegar you use and brand?
I am a housekeeper and I don’t usually use bleach in my own home. I mostly use vinegar and water but when I clean someone else’s house, I usually have to use bleach in the showers because people leave their shower curtain/doors closed and they have a build up of mold and mildew. I spray bleach in the grout and let it set and come back and clean and it’s gone. I can’t wait to try your cleaning cloths 👍🏼😁
i use to work for a person who had there own cleaning business . I don't work with them now but she had me use disinfectant wipes to clean an entire bathroom . yes I agree with you that's not cleaning. let's just say I didn't work for her long. I won't say her name or the company name but anyone out there be careful on who you have helped you clean if you use thumb tack .
I try to stay away from bleach because it's so toxic and tend to opt for natural cleaners only. I would love to see a video with natural bleach alternatives!
Hollie Dovie ......There is something called "Grove's Collaberative's".You can Order, and it will be Delivered to You, or You can Buy it in the Grocery Store's. It is All Natural, and Smell's Wonderful. They have different Fragrance's. They have ALOT Of different Cleaner's for EVERYTHING. I have Watchef ALOT Cleaning Video's, and they All swear by it. I am Definitely going to TRY it out !!! I was Buying ALOT at the Dollar Tree, but........... some of the Cleaner's MESS- UP the Finish on THING'S. GOOD LUCK !!! 🌸
A great thing to do with magazines and things you want to save is to take a picture of them and upload the picture to a online picture app like Google Photos or Dive and put them in a folder to go back to so you can see the article and it's organized.
Bad habit is creating piles of stuff (Clothes, books, paperwork) because of limited space and h avent found a place to put them in.. Thanks for your videos! Your a great motivation to maintain a clean environment at all times! God bless you! :-)
I have a bad habit of not cleaning, not doing a routine & being lazy. This is my year of action & sticking to a daily routine Thanks to your tips in your new book HOLLLAHH.
not weird! maybe try vinegar instead...it disinfects like bleach but it's non-toxic and it really helps with limescale in the dishwasher. although, you'll have to use more than a tiny amount.
did u do a video already about how to clean counch pillows? can u do a video of cleaning the surface of stuff animals and pillows that can't be put into a washer?
Belinda Hawj ......Most Stuffed- Animal's, CAN Go In The Washer/ Dryer. Also The Sofa Cushion's That "Zip" On & Off. Done It Hundred's Of Time's. You'd Be Surprised At The Fabric's That You CAN Wash & Dry.
I have a circa 1930s shower that really traps moisture. I had to throw out my non-skid rubber bath tub mat because i couldn't really get the bottom clean. For 2 years now i have rinsed off and hung up my new mat to dry -- it's always perfect, no problem! I do have to leave the shower curtains and window open after a shower to allow moisture to dry, but at least I do wipe down the vinyl shower curtain after a shower along with the tiles, and that has helped a lot.
I used bleach for years. If it smelt bleachy I was happy. Then I discovered natural cleaning with oils, pretty sure it was from you. I've not bought any other cleaners all I need is water, vinegar, baking soda and oils. My home is cleaner and smells great. Thank you xx
I have a bad habit of not making my bed but so far this year I've been really good about it! Also I've cleared out half my closet of junk and clothing I never wear. It feels so GOOD
i don't know if anyone else mentioned this but in my opinion the bath mat should be up upside down on edge of bath so the suction cups don't restick which you were trying to avoid (it looked like you up suction cups back down)
I hang my wet bath and kitchen towels until they are dry. As a matter of fact, I hang wet clothes to. I don't put them in the hamper until they are dry. When it's time to do laudry I wash kitchen towels separately from other laundry items. I wash bath towels separately also. I do the same for mop heads. I wash mop heads in garment bags to prevent the strings from damaging my washer. I boil sponges and scrub brushes. I often put boiling water on my counter tops after washing them as a final rinse. (Be careful if you do this) I also pour boiling water down my kitchen sink a few times a year as well as my main sewer drain. This will melt the grease and sludge that sometimes builds up, and help it to move along.
I've got to get off my paper towel use. I worked for the MCS (Memphis City Schools) in Sp. Ed. working with the most severe of the Autistic population and we used a gazillion PT a day. But I love idea of microfiber towels. Queen of Clean you got it goin' on!!!
I love my paper towel too. I really prefer them to storing disgusting dirty cloths in my house waiting to have enough of them to wash on a hot cycle with detergent which also costs money. Running a hot wash cycle and using detergent both have an effect on the environment as well. I love disinfecting wipes for quick sanitary clean ups also. I just skip over the parts of her video when I realized that she was about to be critical of things I find rather pleasant to use, hygienic and even cost effect if you can buy the items when on sale.
I have an ex who had a thing about paper towels vs cleaning clothes. No matter which one you chose, he would fly off the handle the handle that the other was a better choice. For me? Cloth is for drying dishes and hands. Paper towels are my choice for pretty well everything else.
Many years ago, we had visiting nurses that insisted we use paper towels for drying our hands. I use paper towels for cleaning the grunge and disgust that would ruin or contaminate cloth cleaning towels. Believe it or not, I used to save my empty paper towel cardboard tubes and sell them in lots of 50 pieces on eBay. I don't know about right now, but a few years ago, they used to sell for about 50 cents a piece.
rosie posie - talking about the environment: it's actually more environmentally friendly to run a hot wash with Eco friendly detergent. Here's why: wet paper towels get thrown into the landfill in airtight plastic bags trapping all that moisture. It's just as bad as disposable diapers, pads, panty liners and the such. All of those keep the moisture locked in slowly depleting the world of clean water. Running a hot load of laundry is an option I prefer a million times over. The electricity for the machine is usually produced either with wind turbines, hydroelectric, solar panels, etc. All renewable energy sources. The water usually isn't dumped into the environment. It usually runs through water clearing and filtering systems before being deposited back into the municipal water reservoirs. The environment was doing so much better in the olden days back when our grandparents were children because nobody used disposable anythings. Surprisingly, Costco has an amazing Eco friendly laundry detergent. I know it's great because I'm allergic to most other detergents. Watkins also sells a great, hypoallergenic, and Eco friendly laundry detergent. Even the container is compostable. :)
My mom used to cut up old clothes that were no longer wearable/donate-able, and use them to wipe out grease from pans and throw them away. Better than tossing the clothes out. It gave the clothes one final use. She also, used cut up, old, clean clothes and pantyhose to tie up storage boxes. We had three walnut trees in our backyard, when I was a kid and my mom would hang the walnuts in old, clean pantyhose, to dry before being shelled. She reused everything at least once.
I tend not to clean one place at a time I am all over the place. So this is what I have to schedule what I am going to clean and when. My husband hasn't been able to help me in a long time. He just had a major hip revision withe a rod, etc. He is lucky that he works from the house, a friend built him a ramp to get to his office. I should have had a knee replacement in 2017 but my husband came first. Even though I may not get done all that for the day I am proud and it make me feel better. We are blessed for a neighbor told me to put my garbage and recycling on the deck and he would take it out font to the curb for me. Melissa I love love your videos, I hate cleaning for I never had the time with working, always very exhausted. I am not working anymore, I am able to pace myself as to what is important and what can wait assist my husband and rest my knee when I gets very painful. The other day I could not wait until my IPad was powered up so I could check out your videos.
We [the whole family] is terrible at picking up after ourselves. My son is the worse offender. He's autistic, so breaking habits are near to impossible, but when he walks in the door he just drops everything. Sometimes that's just what's in his hands but many times that includes his wallet, diabetes supplies, shirt, hat for work, shoes, etc. Then when he needs the items again he has meltdowns because he can't find anything. I started watching your channel in hopes to help us, but my health has been so bad I struggle to keep up let alone clean the house You have great tips but no matter how hard I try, the house is always a hot mess. The only thing I want is to be able to move pain free and a clean house. :(
Your drying mat is a bad habit! Hand washed dishes need to be elevated so they can properly air dry. If you continue to place them face down on a drying mat, the inside will not dry and may begin to mildew/mold as well as the mat if it is not hung to dry or laundered every day. Get a rack already!
Dubs J Thats dumb the only thing might mold are travel mugs and bottles. They don't mold. If did then restaurant busness would be in trouble since after they solutions at restaurants you have to let them dry you are not suppose to dry them.
Katherine Canon Yes, let them dry on a rack that air can easily get under and around. Not on a mat/towel. That would be considered contamination in the restaurant business. Maybe you should re-read my initial comment!
yoly507 ......Suggest-ion...MAKE PILE'S. 1. Trash 2. Go Through 3. Save Get a Basket for the "go through pile"and make it a point to Do it once a WEEK.
I am blessed with a large Jacuzzi tub, and to clean it, I do as the manufacturer suggests! I open the window, fill the tub with warm water, and add 3 cups of bleach and 1 cup of dishwasher soap and run the jets for 10 minutes. I then drain the tub and refill it with fresh water, run the jets again for 5 minutes to rinse it. It leaves the tub spotless!
I have a big problem with wanting to do to many projects or whatever you want to call them so, I start to get things going then the next thing you know, you have to stop before you finish it. Like so many of us,you forget about that one and start to do the next job. I feel like I never get enough time to finish any of them and yes,I know, don't start one till you finish the first one, lol. I know I am not the only one out here that does this. Love your site.
I love your videos.. but I disagree with the idea that using bleach to clean with is wrong.. it's a great multipurpose cleaner & disinfectant I love it use a lot of it & I always will ..
My dad was in the heating business. People need to run their furnace fans more to get air flow through the house. Especially after showers. I'm a cleaning lady. People get mold all over their bathroom and their towels don't dry even hanging up. It's a game changer!
I enjoy you so much, I been cleaning for three weeks, trying to get my apartment clean. I am 74 and NEVER new how to clean until I went on UA-cam. Love you so much, I tell everyone abaut your show. I like cleaning.
👌😊🌸☀️🌈💓
Doing a bunch of laundry in one day and not putting it away. it piles up and sometimes I sleep next to it. Don't judge me lol
itsTHURSDAYagain LOL.
Omg thought I was the only one
Now I know I'm not the only one
I thought I was the only one!!! lol🤫🤫
Same!
I stopped cleaning up after the two other fam that lives with me. Now I just throw whatever they leave around into their rooms. My life has changed😊🙌
Or dump their stuff in a hidden area and say 'Oh? Did you forget it somewhere?' They'll get the point.
Nadia D isn’t that still cleaning up after them?
Toss it. What leeches.
I did this at an apartment I lived in a few years ago. My roommates would never do the dishes, and most of the dishes didn’t belong to any of us, just left there from previous residents, so one day I threw about 3/4 of them away. Nobody even noticed and the dishes became much more manageable.

ANGELEE agreed you can very try you can’t do one without the other
ANGELEE agreed you can very try you can’t do one without the other. People believe anything the internet tells them
ANGELEE agreed you can very try you can’t do one without the other. People believe anything the internet tells them
Yes, bleach is a disinfectant. A powerful one. But you need also some soap and scrubbing. Disinfecting is not cleaning.
my bad cleaning habit ? not cleaning at all. 🙌
Definetly mine too.
fadoua obaid haha!!!
If I didnt have pets i dont think id clean at all really.
fadoua oubaid jajajajajajaja lol
Amen to this one.
What has helped me to clean is to pick one day a week to do nothing but strip my beds and wash sheets dust vacuum and clean bathrooms and throw out clutter. I clean on Fridays and I think my family really appreciates it.
My bad habit is staying up way late (its about to be 5am) watching youtube videos! I have a 3 year old!!! My "pregnancy insomnia" never went away!
Stacy Paige I'm the same! And also have a 3 year old. When she was a baby i would stay up late to clean and fold laundry etc but now it's just a bad habit i cant fight
OMG, same here! I often don't sleep until 6AM and my son is 5 years old. My sleep was permanently ruined by the first year of having a baby.
Man I know this is an old comment and video, but I’m in the same boat! I had no idea there was others like me! I’ve always stayed up late and I don’t know how to break it. I also have a 3 year old and I’m currently pregnant with #2. 😩😩😩
Have you guys tried benadryl or melatonin or valerian root? :) melatonin has saved my life!
:(
Use flour sack towels. Can get at Walmart.
A tip for magazines or even Cook book declutering: it's OK to rip out the pages you wanna use and throw away the rest of the magazine. You can put the pages in a folder. Saves space AND you get to keep that indpiring article or recepie you love.
I do that, but somehow those pages never make it to the inside of a folder. LoL
Bookupied ......You can also put your "Favorite" Recipe's, in those Small Photo ALBUM'S !!! Work's Great !!! 🌸
Tear open a book?? Blasphemy!
Bad habit #1- Letting junk pile up on my kitchen counters!!
Me too!!!
Definitely cluttered surfaces, it's everywhere and I have no idea where to start!
Kirsty Macfarlane
Start with clothes
Then with books/magazines
Then with paper, documents, and letters
Then odds and ends (paper clips, pencils etc)
Then tools and electronics
Lastly sentimental items in that order. It isn't about what to throw away but what to keep. Then donate the rest. It will take a lot of time, (it did for me). But at least you know where to start lol
Kitchen island clutter is the bane of my existence! LOL!
Julie Cairns I like the basket idea!
My baaaaad habit: UA-cam! it's a hard habit to break...
downbntout UA-cam is a rabbit hole 🕳.
Same
downbntout mine too✋
Me too! Even when i’m cleaning I have a youtube video going to keep me entertained
I have a horrible habit of not folding and putting away laundry when I do it. It's the one thing I hate doing the most. Not that it's easier by any means but I'd rather just push clothes around in a basket to look for a top or bottoms then to stand there folding them.
Jamie McGonagle did you try the konmari folding?
Jamie McGonagle I have that same habit but I am not going to break it lol I keep the clothes in a laundry bag and put them away in 2-3 days and I'm ok with that
Jamie McGonagle i always fold them directly from the dryer. and that way even if I don't have time to put them away at least they are not wrinkled.
My bad habit is procrastinating with laundry. I hate laundry it's my least favorite thing to do lol.
Yasmin Bagley a load a day has saved my life.... I have 6 kids myself and husband..
Cecilia Hernandez ha 6 kids and a load a day? I have one child and I do a load a day!!!! omg! lol cloth diapering probs I guess :-)
Cecilia Hernandez you're a trooper! I have one and the laundry just for us two drives me nuts lol.
Oh my cecilia hernandez , I have six kids and I wash at least 2 loads a day if not more.
Delegate it! There's a laundromat/drycleaner near me that does plain ol' laundry for busy people, it's affordable, and they fold things so perfectly.
Victoria Stone haha in my house with my kids i clean it nd by that night it goes back to dirty.😔😳😲😠😢
Nisha Arias I have that problem too but I was talking about my bedroom. My kids know not to hang out in my room or make it messy.
I've tried that but it's not enough time for me. So now I just thoroughly clean one spot at a time.
Victoria Stone No
Piles of stuff in my kitchen on my table & desk. to make every room be more clean with less on surfaces around my house. Love your vlogs!
Leaving mail everywhere is our house bad habit that needs to break.
Yes, they do clean and disinfect. They have a detergent for cleaning and a disinfectant for disinfecting in them.
Just don't forget to rinse with potable (drinkable) water if using on a surface that may touch food. Don't want to ingest left behind chemicals.
My bad habit is keeping too many things "handy", which means lots of clutter on surfaces. It's basically just laziness.
MissMargaret I am so guilty of this!!! Glad I am not the only one.😉
MissMargaret My bad habit is all the above 😒
I have smelled one too many putrid sponges to ever want one around!!
You can get a pack of them at a dollar store
Danielle Graziani Stone I love microfiber cloths
Cecilia Hernandez i hate the way they feel on my hands.
Yeah kinda slimy, and they drag across any tiny dry roughness. Fingernails on a chalkboard --yeesh!
No Bleach. My mom used it everyday. I prefer vinegar and baking soda to clean with.
*soda
roberta gannon ......I Use Vinegar ALOT, But Hate Soda !! Leave's A Film, Which Is More Work !!
Stylish?? Wow ok. Bleach is so bad for your heath. Using toxic substances is not stylish imo please educate yourself
Same..
Sounds like you've taken some steps in the right direction! Keep at it and I'm sure you'll be able to kick that habit!
HELP PAPER, PAPERWORK ALL OVER THE TABLE AND WHAT
having a clean sink at night is a habit I have tried to make. waking up to a clean sink makes the entire kitchen feel so much better!
One of my cleaning bad habbits is going all over the place in my house and yard. I need to focus on one room at a time.
My worst is "I'll do it later" thinking.
My bad habit is not folding my laundry and putting it away. I just live out of my clean clothes basket.
Margret Whalen
Same. It’s so hard to break that habit. I guess I’m going to fold right after taking out of the dryer.
YES! I have a clean laundry bed. This is a bed that clean laundry gets dumped on when I need something that is in the clean laundry bag that I did not fold.
At least you get yours WASHED. That's my struggle and the struggle is REAL.
Apple_girl_in_a Pear_world I’m guilty too. 😂😂😂
I did this all through college 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I am REALLY bad about using paper towels to clean, especially the stove top, cuz I hate having greasy towels or cleaning cloths in the laundry. However, I do offset my bad habit by recycling a LOT (always have 3X more recycling than trash).
That ok because I believe she mentioned not to use microfiber cloths on grease.
Sheri A ......I use ALOT of Paper-Towel's as well.I think it's more Sanitary, and can't stand the "thought's" of greasy- grimey Rag's either !!!
Yes same here!!!
definitely clutter I need to get rid of clutter
When I am done frying something on the stove that is oily, I like to spray it with all purpose spray first and then use paper towels, then a cloth. The paper towels just suck up the grease like magic. My new habit is, I am going to try and handwash more of my tops, they will last so much longer that way.
Yes, I use bleach. For laundry and for disinfecting. Not for cleaning. Glad to hear you make the distinction. So many people confuse spray bleach with spray and wipe cleaner. Not the same things at all.
My bad habits are not washing dishes every day. I have no dishwasher.
Idellle I agree with you!
Idellle same thing!
Idellle I don't have a dishwasher but also don't have enough dishes to not wash up,! I wash up while I boil the kettle to make myself a ☕️
Idellle We had a dishwasher but I hand wash all of the dishes because i dont trust the dishwasher. I use the dishwasher as a storage for the dishes
Unique Unicorn me too..
omg, please tell my wife that bleach is not a cleaner!
Dear Tom's wife,
Bleach is not a cleaner.
Sincerely,
Melissa
Clean My Space. lol
This make me smile. :)
but using bleach to clean is so satisfying!'
I don’t think I’ve ever had a single discussion with a doctor about bleach.
Theresa Brown mold can affect your health, so maybe the reason for the bleach talk
Squirrel?
what I do is put my cleaning cloths in a bucket of vinegar and water and wash them all together that way they don't smell !
That's a really smart idea!!!
“A pile of Mail, 6 books, a bottle of wine....”
for a brief moment I was sure she was looking at me standing next to my breakfast bar, that she just described in detail. 😱😂
That sounds like the start of a bad country song.
I know, I felt personally attacked 😭😂😜
You got this Marie-Claude - finish the video and find a place to start and get cracking :) Let me know how it goes and good luck with the house sale!
Marie-Claude Thibeault of
I use vinegar to clean everything
Me 2!!
Bleach queen 👑 yes I use the gel on everything with a hot water rag 🙌🏼
I am a housekeeper and I don’t usually use bleach in my own home. I mostly use vinegar and water but when I clean someone else’s house, I usually have to use bleach in the showers because people leave their shower curtain/doors closed and they have a build up of mold and mildew. I spray bleach in the grout and let it set and come back and clean and it’s gone. I can’t wait to try your cleaning cloths 👍🏼😁
I never use bleach in my home the smell always gave me an instant headache. I use natural cleaners vinager, rubbing alcohol & essential oils (Theives)
vinegar, rubbing alcohol and essential oils are all great! Thanks for your comment!
i use to work for a person who had there own cleaning business .
GOOD
LUCK !!! 🌸
This is fab!
I've just moved into my first house and whilst I don't have that many bad habits, at least I'm learning properly!
Thanks!!
A great thing to do with magazines and things you want to save is to take a picture of them and upload the picture to a online picture app like Google Photos or Dive and put them in a folder to go back to so you can see the article and it's organized.
Will break my bad habit of leaving the shower mat down. It's so gross to clean post facto!
Wooow! This was so eye-opening! I never knew there was a difference between cleaning and disinfecting!! THANK YOU
Hi my name is Sara and I’m a new subscriber and, I am a newly obsessed watcher ( do they have meetings for this ) omg I love all your videos
This is my year of action & sticking to a daily routine Thanks to your tips in your new book HOLLLAHH.
procrastinating on my favourite project (!) with youtube and nongrams
this might be weird but I put a tiny amount of bleach in my dishwater when I wash dishes
not weird! maybe try vinegar instead...it disinfects like bleach but it's non-toxic and it really helps with limescale in the dishwasher. although, you'll have to use more than a tiny amount.
did u do a video already about how to clean counch pillows? can u do a video of cleaning the surface of stuff animals and pillows that can't be put into a washer?
Belinda Hawj most couch cushions have zipper to take off, and I've always washed stuffed animals put them in a pillow case and wash as normal.
Annette Taylor Hi, How about how to clean cloth couch 🛋? Thank You
Belinda Hawj ......Most Stuffed- Animal's, CAN Go In The Washer/ Dryer.
I tend to leave the last load of clothes in the washer and end up having to wash it again.
Crystal Cooke my confession too! 😬
I set a timer for 35 minutes. Washers oughtta signal when they're done.
Ditto! In fact... Yup, there is some in there now from last time. (So that's where that sweater went).
Both my washer and dryer have a signal to let me know when they are done.
G BREAD yeah me too but I keep them turned off because I live in the hood😊
Which washing machine do you have?
Mellisa has a 🏆LG washing machine
I hate the smell of bleach! 😷
I have a bad habit of not making my bed but so far this year I've been really good about it! Also I've cleared out half my closet of junk and clothing I never wear. It feels so GOOD
i don't know if anyone else mentioned this but in my opinion the bath mat should be up upside down on edge of bath so the suction cups don't restick which you were trying to avoid (it looked like you up suction cups back down)
My bad habit is dusting my tables with my sleeve.
:(((( I dont know whether to cry or laugh out loud :))))
My bad habit: Doing everything last minute. Any tips to break it?
Check out this video Isak! cleanmyspace.com/5-habits-to-try-today-for-a-more-productive-tomorrow/
Clean My Space thank you! I will watch it when I should be doing homework!
Great tip: do it earlier instead of waiting till last minute! Genius.
Tough Voice: I'MA GONNA COME OVER THERE AND BREAK YO FINGERS IF YOU DON'T GET $H!T DONE! (Did that help? No?) 🤷😂
I don't use bleach because I can't stand the smell
MiSsMiNiVaN23 same
Oh wow I love the smell
I love my Bounty. I really don't mind the money because I feel like I hoard those reusable microfiber cloths and then I'm lazy washing them
I love my paper towel too.
Paper towels are great. Lol.
Stop getting a new glass every time I want something to drink.
That's funny. Chad and I have tried to use the same glass for an entire day to reduce the amount of glasses we have to wash. That's a good one!
I started watching your channel in hopes to help us, but my health has been so bad I struggle to keep up let alone clean the house
You have great tips but no matter how hard I try, the house is always a hot mess.
Dubs J you should just dry your dishes straight away not let them sit there to dry
Dubs J pm
I keep paper and mail. I just don't know what to do with it.

Clean My Space OMG!! You actually replied!! OMG!!!
I don't think I would like to use cleaning cloths to clean up a dog accident or cat puke
Ya me either. I would go for the paper towels or the Scott paper rags that are disposable in that situation!
I use cleaning cloths for everything EXCEPT when cleaning the toilet
I love your videos.. but I disagree with the idea that using bleach to clean with is wrong.. it's a great multipurpose cleaner & disinfectant I love it use a lot of it & I always will ..
My dad was in the heating business. People need to run their furnace fans more to get air flow through the house. Especially after showers. I'm a cleaning lady. People get mold all over their bathroom and their towels don't dry even hanging up. It's a game changer!
