Even doing the blade first, when you boom down to lift the machine up, you also need to stick out so that you are pushing the excavator into the truck. If you only move the main boom the arc of the boom will start pulling the machine closer to the bucket(away from the truck) the lower the boom gets.
Hey I'm a 20 yr operator, and I think you exercise one of the best qualities of operating. You were going slow and being cautious. You just messed up. Experience always wins. And I'm sure you know what you did wrong by now. Good luck man...God bless in Jesus name...
I just sold £150. my very good pair of Ifor Williams Steel galvanized ramps each one was 3500kg so a safety weight of 7000kg . But New is £300 to £350 .
I often think about this seeing people doing this. It's like, what's the big deal with using some nice high quality aluminum ramps. All the time you spent lining it up and getting in and out the ramps would pay for themselves relatively quickly.
I'm with the guy that commended you for showing your mishap. We use trailers in the USA for that, the no ramp method is dangerous for obvious reasons. Take care and be safe.
Hey mate hope your head isn't too sore...you need to learn to use the track levers with your feet and always get the edge of the tray past the sprockets before you swing around also keep the door shut when doing this sort of thing because it adds support to the rops if you do crash and burn, happy digging
Dude now would be the time to change those hard to reach swing hoses..😅. Glad no one was hurt. I've seen this done a lot but can be dangerous especially if your lags are full of mud. I have a float for my excavator. Very easy and painless.

I have loaded a lot of excavators this way, and it usually works well. We can't see what failed or why it failed. Anyone putting the blade in the bed first is the guy who will get hurt first. Not sure it would help to toss a old piece of plywood under the bucket so it would slide a bit easier or not. Most of those style excavators can lay on their side for a while and not trade places with engine oil for a good while if you get it back up again.. should still run fine and continue loading it. Pride gets hurt but really its just all in a days work
Just think of how much money you would have saved to have just bought a trailer. Just think of how much TIME you would save to load onto a trailer instead of this risky maneuver. I've seen people with too much confidence and bravado try this maneuver before (and yes most succeed most of the time) but I have NEVER seen anyone try to do this SOLO as the truck driver and equipment operator. That was twice the recipe for disaster. You shouldn't be surprised - sooner or later this was coming your way - its just statistics. I'm glad your ok, hope you learned more from this than simply trying again next time. Imagine doing this and having one of many hydraulic lines burst. Imagine doing this and having the truck brakes let go or the tires lose traction in the mud and start sliding. Imagine doing this and having a soft spot in the dirt cause one end of the blade to sink in. There is only about 100 things outside of your control that could go wrong even if your a top operator who does all your precise maneuvers right - then you put the icing on the cake by doing this alone solo getting in and out of the mini-ex over and over in odd positions. Don't mean to chew you out, but just get a dang trailer. Then you could haul your equipment and a load of dirt it dug at the same time.
You learn from your mistakes just glad you wasn't hurt, it's just as easy using the ramps for safety reasons but if you don't put blade onto tray first

Never done it myself but those I'e seen done it got that iron bar in front and drive up, then sving the digger around and back up. You do not back the truck.
You had to push the machine a little towards the truck and travel in a little before lifting the other end up. Or with a machine this big wi would usually load the blade side first. When you do that you can turn around and track further towards the truck without lifting the other end up from the ground.
There are literally hundreds of videos on UA-cam of people doing this successfully. I’ve never seen one of them raise the digger and then try and reverse the truck under it.
Interestingly, I see a lot of videos where the truck/trailer is always driven "under" the excavator when it is high. I would never do it that way. Either you can push up on the truck and reach the loading area with the blade and the undercarriage, which would have been possible without any problems in this case, or you leave it altogether and use loading ramps. Driving the vehicle back and forth is somehow wrong in all areas.
