Many years ago a magistrate said to me " we feel this case is suitable for trial at this court , however you can elect to hsve this tried at the crown court " .
I thanked him for the offer and added , I wouldn't have a trial at a magistrate's court if I had the Queen Mother and the Arch Bishop of Canterbury as witnesses for the defence ! It did not go down well .
