Jasmine is 18 years old, lives in China, AND is six feet tall! That's tall no matter where you live, but in China it is ver very tall, and especially for a girl, and that's a lot to go through.
She wasn't very tall when she was in elementary school - just like all the other kids in her grade - but, in seventh grade, when she hit puberty and started developing, she grew nearly fifteen centimeters in that one year. That growth changed everything for her.
Her classmates were all much much shorter than she was, and somehow that ended up having them leave her out of tons of activities and projects.
On top of al of that, and how different she now felt from the rest of her old friends and classmates, shopping for clothes became a real challenge. It go so hard that ended up having to shop for mens clothes and the big and tall shops. Her dreams of dressing up like the other girls and using make up and fitting in a feeling beautiful, well, it just never quite worked out that way for her.
The fact that she was "the tall girl" had her singled out and friend-less. Unfortunately, she got used to it, being a loner, the tall girl, and after awhile she learned how not to let it bother her. In fact, she convinced herself that it was better, and easier - after all, now she pretty much wore the same black t-shirt every day and never had to worry about putting on make up or flirting with boys or any of that.
Jasmine is even taller than most of the boys in her class, and that makes it hard as well. She's tried to join in on activities with the other girls in her class. but there is something uncomfortable about it and it seems that none of the other kids want to hang out with someone who is so much taller than them.
Sometimes she really just hates her body. She knows of course that fashion models are all tall as well, but Jasmine doesn't feel pretty in any way, so it doesn't help much to think about that. And it doesn't help that the other kids make fun of "the tall girl" behind her back, and it's even worse when it's time for photos - nobody can ever get her into the frame with her classmates, and so usually those photos don't have her in them.
It's hard not to get jealous of the other girls her age as they go out clothes shopping and doing each others make up and all the followers they have on their social media accounts and the likes they get on their selfies. Jasmine just sits there and watches it all happen.
She realized she couldn't change the way the other kids saw her, or treated her, and so she decided to put 100% of her energy and effort into her studies and school work. So, instead of shopping or taking selfies, or much of anything for that matter, Jasmine buried herself in her books, trying to become the best person she can be.
So, over the years and through high school she has maintained amazingly good grades and this fall she is heading off to college to study economics . She feels good about who she is, how tall she is, and how she looks. She's one of those tall women now.
And, she's learned something super valuable - you might not be able to change the way you look to others, but you can change your own image of yourself on the inside. She has learned that who you are is who you choose to be and NOT what others say you are.
Jasmine is now proud to be the tall girl.

I relate to her message a lot. I’m somewhat tall at 5’10”(just a hair or so off 5’11”). But throughout my life, particularly in my earlier years I was picked on for being thin and underweight for my height as well as my glasses and even white skin color.
It caused me to hate myself a lot and I had low self-esteem for sure, thankfully I now see myself in a more positive light and it’s really helped me.
I accept the fact that I’m tall and ugly.

I know how you feel. When I was younger I hated being the tallest person in the entire of my school. When I finally got into middle school and met my best friend who is now my boyfriend who was much taller than I was. I finally felt normal being around him.

Exactly my story. In sixth class, I was the tallest. In first year, I was slightly above average. In second year, I was average. I have not grown since second year.

I only have a good looking body
I am kinda short(160cm) and I remember in 5th grade we had this new girl join our class, we didnt know she was joining our class cause she was like really tall, so everyone was very surprised and maybe kinda intimidated by her. I think she also felt the similar way the girl in this video feels...I'm glad I was good friends with her and that we enjoyed a great time together. After awhile she joined our school people started admiring her cause she was actually very talented in sports(the most strongest person in our school that time) everyone would want her to be on their team for every sports fest...ofcourse even she experienced a lot of teasing like people calling her a palm tree or a walking pole. Unfortunately she transferred to a different city 2 years ago and its disappointing that I couldn't stay in touch with her.

Being tall is both a blessing and a curse it can make u feel confident at times but it mostly makes u self conscious since you stand out too much, especially when almost everyone points out ur height which makes u extremely uncomfortable.
U always get the "volleyball or basketball" talk which sucks if you aren't sporty cuz people would tell me that "I was just wasting my height." Being tall comes with alot of disadvantages but I've learned to accept most of them
Your height doesn't define you and neither does ur body, I know how hard it is to fight these insecurities but stay positive! Us fellow tall people got each others backs :]

I was tall in elementary for my age (I stopped growing in middle school at 5’4) and I hated it. I wasn’t picked on, in fact I was “admired” but I just hated being several inches taller than my friends
I’m super tall too haha, I had a massive growth spurt recently and almost all clothes I wear are too small :(
However being tall should never limit you! Think about it this way: if everyone is reaching for the stars to acheive their dreams, because you’re taller you can get there faster :)

I can kind of relate to this. I’m below average height for my age, and I’m very insecure about it. I’m only 5’0 but I don’t know if I’m done growing yet. My parents are 5’4 and 5’7 and my doctor says I’m likely to be about 5’3. My sister is shorter than me, being 4’11. But she’s not insecure like me. I used to get picked on all the time in elementary school and middle school. High school isn’t too bad, even though I’ve had a few people questions me about my height. I know that you’re supposed to be proud of who you are, and I partly am, but to be honest, I’m just not confident with myself. In the future, I hope to be more confident more than what I am now and just to accept myself, because I can’t change the way I am-no one can.
