    Oh Ms Tonya how I love your videos. I watch several planner babes on here, but hands down you are the best. Also as much as I love tech and its advances, there's nothing like paper. Writing things down and holding an actual book is the best therapy. Thank you Ms Tonya.

    I don’t use a Franklin planner but your setup has inspired me to make some changes in mine so I can be more productive. ☺️ And I totally agree about using technology to plan - my brain just prefers that I write things down as opposed to typing them in my phone. 💖

    Love this video (as always)!! I'm with you- phone and computer is MUCH too distracting! I find it's easier in a paper planner to find stuff, writing helps me remember and paper looks better in my opinion. Looking forward to more tips in the future!

    I just found you because I went back to my Franklin Planner after experimenting with others for years. I love your in depth tips, and finally understand the "big rocks" and the role of the weekly compass insert. I actually filled mine out while watching you explain yours. I even put "Ecclesiastes 3" as my spiritual saw sharpening for this week. Thank you! I am an instant fan.

      Tonya Plans I’m currently using an Erin Condren vertical that goes through June just because that’s what I have. I got it to use as a meal planner and it’s great for that, the problem is I haven’t been able to develop a consistent meal planning routine, so it was being underutilized. The fact that there are no time designations drives me batty when it comes to using it as a regular planner. I supplement it with a notebook for my monthly, weekly and daily task lists and notes. I keep my master task list in the Toodledo app.

I so do that, my phone will ding and I don’t pick it up or I get ideas about what to make and design for my shop and try to keep that in my head. I now started using my FP because of your inspiration, but realize I need to keep it with me or a post it notes so when I see a jewelry idea I can write it down, or need to buy something and keep it in my planner. HI Tonya I have a question for you I like the franklin planner inserts but I have a 6 rings classic planner so how can I use the franklin planner inserts in my planner being that the rings are different. Please give me some advice Thanks

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Darlene. Sorry for the delayed response. The answer to this depends on the size planner you have. If you have a compact/personal size planner, the compact franklin planner inserts will fit. If you have a classic size planner with 6 rings, franklin planner inserts will not fit because the classic inserts have 7 holes. Your options for classic size is 1.) use washing tape to cover holes and repunch holes in the inserts 2) get a classic size 3 ring binder (Although I don't use it anymore, I have a dayrunner 3 ring binder and the FP inserts fit) 3.) buy a FP classic binder.

    Hi Tonya, Another great video! A Blackberry? Just kidding I remember the first time I heard of it I asked the Air Force guys I was working with what it was and they gave me the "he's an idiot" look because I didn't know what a Blackberry was. I had to explain that being stationed overseas back then and being on deployment on a ship you're shielded from what happens in the real world, you almost on another planet, so after that they gave me a break.
    I tried setting up my Outlook as a planner but it was nothing like a Franklin planner, Microsoft needs to do some work on it. Believe it or not, Franklin Quest had an electronic planner that worked with Outlook or whatever the e-mail system of choice was back in the 1990s. You could printout your pages all nice and pretty exactly like the ones that came with the planner, Franklin sold the pre-cut printer paper of the various sizes just for this program, if you had a color printer and not too many people had a color printer back then. I never bought the program but I remember seeing it in my monthly snail mail advertisements and bundled with my invoices from Franklin Quest. From what I can remember it worked exactly like a paper planner and incorporated your real contacts instead of retyping them again. I was very surprised when I found out this planner was no longer available because I would've loved to have given it a try because I'm pretty sure it would work perfectly with a smartphone/tablet. I want to say they had a PDA version also but I'm not sure because back then all you had were the Apple Newton and Palm Pilot. I never saw a Newton in action and I didn't hear too many nice words about it either. I had the last generation Palm Pilot and the planner was just a plain Palm planner not a Franklin version.
    I know exactly what you mean about tuning-out alerts, if I don't know someone then the phone rings with a normal ringer but if you're in my phone book then you'll get a unique ringer and I'll answer the call. If the others don't leave a message then I assume it's a wrong number or robocall and don't worry about it. It's gotten so bad I don't even recognize the regular ring anymore but when a unique call comes through I spring to action. I don't even answer the door unless I'm expecting a delivery and these days those are few and far in between.
    The 7-ring binder-type Franklin uses is the same one pilots use for their approach charts that I believe was developed by aviation pioneer Elrey Borge Jeppesen. You might want to peruse some aviation chart and accessory sites like Jeppesen.com and SportysPilotshop.com for some ideas because they carry the same size page protectors and other inserts that will fit the Classic size planner.
    I remember my binder came with a clear zipper pouch and a few other plastic insertables and for some reason, Hyrum really liked having the pouch and other insertables included with the planner kit. Franklin used to sell a black zipper pouch so your emergency money wouldn't be immediately visible but it looks like they don't sell those anymore either.
    I used Post-It Notes sparingly like you and when they were done they were gone, I couldn't stand having those things all over the place. My coworkers looked like they were wallpapering their workspaces with Post-It Notes and other signs taped up all over the place. That just told me and anyone coming in for customer service they were messy, not organized, and probably didn't know there job which wasn't far from the truth since they were always asking me how to do this and how to do that even though they had the steps written down on their wall of notes, they couldn't find it.
    From my experience in the Navy I had to write standard operating procedures (SOPs) on how to do routine tasks because just about everywhere I went there was no standard and everyone was shooting from the hip. Fortunately the emergency procedures were and still are standard throughout the Navy so I didn't have to reinvent that wheel. I would write the SOPs from the perspective of taking someone off the street with no experience and explain step by step how to do routine tasks. This was quite laborious but it reduced the questions to a minimum. I thoroughly researched and broke each SOP down with an index of bulletized steps which came in handy when writing my tasks in my planner since I already had an idea how to do it. All I had to do with my tasks was to list the steps not the details because that was already part of a personal or professional SOP for whatever project I was working on. So when it came time for daily or weekly planning I would read over those tasks to see where I was and felt quite comfortable that I had the complete procedure already in place and not making it up as I went along.
    "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!" - Benjamin Franklin

      Yes, I own a Blackberry in 2020. It's a newer Blackberry called the Keyone that runs on the Android operating system. I just love the ability to type without looking at the keyboard. However I know the day is coming when I will cross over into the Apple world. For now, I'm trying to hang on to my phone as long as possible.
      My co-workers and friends tease me about my Blackberry. I don't mind and it's a topic of conversation that I enjoy. Some people consider me old fashioned when they see I have a Blackberry. The ironic thing is that I consider myself tech savy as I write SQL and Visual Basic code at work...but still LOVE my Blackberry and paper planner.
      It sounds like you were good at your job in the military. I use Outlook mostly for meeting reminders. When I took the Franklin Covey 5 Choices of Extraordinary Productivity class at work, they gave participants a manual on how to use Outlook for productivity. I asked the instructor if they were going to offer another paper planner course like they did in the past, and she looked at me like I was crazy.🙂 So they don't offer paper planning courses anymore and that's why I was excited to see Franklin Planner offer a free online course.

The car maintenance inserts are included in the Starter Pack ( ua-cam.com/video/zFZ3QPwhiKE/v-deo.html ) and in the Financial Supplement I believe ( ua-cam.com/video/VGK1fdc537U/v-deo.html ). The fitness inserts are in the Health and Fitness Tracker pack ( ua-cam.com/video/7jgsZvj6C4Q/v-deo.html ). 🙂🙂😀

    Great video! I’m taking the Franklin Planner course right now! I will use what I learned in my cloth & paper planning system. I would love to try the Franklin packs but I heard the paper quality is not really good.
    Do you notice a difference in the thickness on paper with certain packs.

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  3 роки тому

      Hello my friend. Yes, the paper thickness can vary from planner to planner. The paper thickness does not bother me, until I'm taking a picture to put on Facebook or Instagram. However, if the planner is being used for just personal use, it's fine, in my opinion. I might do a video about the paper thickness. Thanks for watching.

    That floral book mark is beautiful. Love the use of functional stickers. Do you purchase most of the supplies directly from their site or do you have other places that you love ?

      A Tatum Hi. All items are from their website. Some items I purchase myself and some items they send to me to do an honest review. Thanks for watching. 🤗

    thank you for the wonderful video! I have looked through many of your videos and wonder if you would know how often do new binder styles get introduced? I want an A5 size.

      Hi Rebecca. I assume you are taking about Franklin Planner binders? If so, new binders get introduced all the time. In fact yesterday 3 new binders were introduced.

      @@TonyaPlans I'm interested in a softer pliable binder if you understand what I mean. Does Franklin Planner have such a type. I really like the Classic size Filofax Maulden but with searches I've done I dont see that the FC inserts classic fit into an A5 filofax binder. I like the FC inserts more so I'm thinking my only option is to wait till a soft leather binder gets released by FC.

      @@rebeccaabdelnour389 Hey. I hear the Ryder binder by Franklin Planner is soft although I don't own it. Please note the FC COMPACT size pages fit the personal size binder no matter what brand binder. However, the FC CLASSIC insert holes do not line up with A5 binders....if you want to use FC classic size inserts, you would have to use a FC classic sized binder.

    ❤️❤️❤️ i have fallen in love with this planner. I’m new to planning, so I’m not that familiar with the sides. What size inserts works well with this binder? I found a lot of cute dashboards on Etsy, but most of them are prepunched for 6 and 8 rings. 🥺 please help!

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Insta! The Classic size 7 ring binder is proprietary to Franklin Planner. If you want to use inserts from elsewhere in a FP binder, you will need to use their hole puncher. However, if you choose their compact size binder, it's has 6 rings and you can use any personal size insert...it's pretty much universal. I hope that helps.
