I would like a explanation on the seat being slammed forward , does it mean the frame is incorrect? Would you slam it more if it was steeper more like a triathlon frame?
Use me as an up vote for Dylan's videos being more exciting than watching the race in real time. Seriously I hope the other riders appreciate how much your recaps help publicize the races and riders. Now just need a second gopro for the last 30 minutes.
Great performance, your numbers are impressive! As a german viewer, I was waiting for you to mention second place finisher Paul Voss, who also recently won the The Traka 200 as well as the UCI Gravel world series race in Aachen Germany, but I guess he is not well known over in the states yet :)
I'd *love* to see a bike check on the kinds of changes you've made for different races like Unbound. It's interesting seeing how different people are setting up for the same race, but I've not seen much about different setups from the same rider for different races, even over on the vastly different courses in the UCI gravel in Europe
What a pleasant surprise to see Petr Vakoč appear on the US gravel scene. I really admired how he was able to get back after that horrific accident (six broken vertebrae).
Congrats on doing so well. Man, I can't imagine that power/speed for so many hours. It's great that you don't just talk a good game but also are a top racer. Good luck in the Unbound race.
It was a smart way to acknowledge and dodge the controversy in one move. I don’t think he should comment on it since it involves his teammate. Plus it’s just a dumb controversy. It’s a race. The winner used perfectly valid, legal and common race tactics. If you don’t like it, don’t race or figure out how to beat him.
I raced the 112 mile course at GL. Funny to hear talk of the first hour being chill :) I was probably in the 5th chase group behind the lead pack for the first 2-2.5 hours, completely died after that. The aid station at mile 95 had Cuban coffee, which is now my new favorite recovery drink lol I watched the pro finish. Couldn't believe y'all did that distance in 7 hr 12 min. Insanely fast. Awesome ride!
You are killing it with these videos! Great footage, data and the fact you were riding with these animals is awesome. I think he would be happy. If you got a boom or lapel mic for your interview, lapel just takes the can sound out of the room. Keep it up 🔥
Great effort and work during the race. You are a gifted cyclist, no doubt. Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom. Wishing you the best on the upcoming unbound. Hope the rest of you find joy this summer in our shared passion on the ironhorse.
Killer race and even better video, Dylan. Always appreciate your transparency and willingness to share your experience with us. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
Great race and thanks for sharing the video and data! I swear my heart rate literally spins up 30-40 bpm watching those attacks and you covering. That perspective makes race coverage so much more interesting.
Excellent work on the ride AND on the video! I continue to be amazed at the pace you maintained (nearly 22 mph) for 150 miles! I appreciate the report as one who lingered toward the back on the GL30 La Pequena. It was a really nice day with cool temperatures (early on) and an acute lack of dust.
THANK YOU for making such good coverage from inside the race. The power numbers and race tactics are crucial for those of us that want to get better to see. Or at least understand better what was happening. So cool!
Congrats on a fine finish, Dylan, and sure, any chat on tactics as they are evolving would be interesting and maybe for gravel no shame in not pulling, just do for yourself whatever's best, no rules like the wild, wild West? And I like the visibility of your sponsor logo on your helmet, you and The Feed stand out, good work with that.
Just wait until Bala (aka Alejandro Valverde) gets interested in US gravel races ! 😅 A legend described by Merckx as the rider most like himself is still kicking butt.
Such great performance, Dylan! For Unbound, Belgian rider Jan Bakelants will be present. He won a stage in Tour the France and will be in top form. Look out for him ;).
@Dylan_Cycling I already follow you on Strava. The stats that you post on average after your 200+ miles races are my averages on my short commutes (18 Kms), on the tarmac, when I'm in top form. Although I ride a 16 kilo bike, still that's not an excuse.
Great content love to see you pushing it at a real race like this actually I was there as a lowly amateur doing the 100 and I saw you finish so strong! Funny story I was getting a beer and Ian Boswell comes cruising in fresh off the finish and i said “Damn nice work did you win?” He said, no, and I said “yeah kind of a shit sprint finish with that sharp right turn into gravel off the road,” and he replied “I was just here for the workout!” 😉
absolutely love your race breakdown videos like this. would love to see even more detail, but this is still great. when we gonna see some dylan johnson merch? you need a designer?
… bring your “aero” A game, you going to need it… the takeover is just about to begin! This year will be an epic battle…no more training, it’s now time to taper down to race day and figure out the survival strategies for food and fuel. If ever there was a tough edition, it’s now. Good Luck and keep your own focus, don’t get caught up in wasted efforts. I so look forward to your race report on this one! 👍🏻😎
Stunning result in that field! Was thinking earlier it would be great to see a video on breathing technique. I’ve had bad asthma since birth, and heard no end of myths and legends, tried a lot of the devices (power breathe and those nose clip things that Froome endorsed for a bit), but nothing really seems to make much impact.
Yes to all bike setup videos and tire talk.
^this please
Agreed
Agree 100%
And if you don’t get top 10 I expect a proper roasting by BHD!
I would like a explanation on the seat being slammed forward , does it mean the frame is incorrect? Would you slam it more if it was steeper more like a triathlon frame?

I think Voss is probably the favorite for Unbound 200.
I'm temporarily living in Germany and the riders here are FAST!!!!!!
I'd *love* to see a bike check on the kinds of changes you've made for different races like Unbound. It's interesting seeing how different people are setting up for the same race, but I've not seen much about different setups from the same rider for different races, even over on the vastly different courses in the UCI gravel in Europe

The ending was hilarious!!!! Backwards hat Dillon asking the hard question right into normal Dillon signing off.

That’s some crazy numbers. You are pushing my 2-5 minute intervals efforts for 7 hours
Thanks for taking the aero penalty of the gopro on the bike for our viewing enjoyment
A top 10 in that company is incredible. Well done!
1.22 VI is like a 7hr crit. Insane.
Good job, Dylan.

I watched the pro finish. Couldn't believe y'all did that distance in 7 hr 12 min. Insanely fast. Awesome ride!
That's an impressive result considering the field. Looks like that extra volume this year paid off!
Great effort! You really figure out what you are made of when encountering adversity. I can't imagine the frustration from that car.
or the guys that crashed towards the end of such a long race
You are killing it with these videos! Great footage, data and the fact you were riding with these animals is awesome. I think he would be happy. If you got a boom or lapel mic for your interview, lapel just takes the can sound out of the room. Keep it up 🔥
Crazy power numbers 👍
Yes, to bike setup! Ride strong in Unbound 👊
Wow! Great race DJ, those numbers are insane
Great effort and work during the race. You are a gifted cyclist, no doubt. Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom. Wishing you the best on the upcoming unbound. Hope the rest of you find joy this summer in our shared passion on the ironhorse.
Absolute monster man. Keep it up 👍🏼
Crazy for 3USA in top 10 for a race in Hico, TX. I grew up in TX, and I have no idea where that even is.
Killer race and even better video, Dylan. Always appreciate your transparency and willingness to share your experience with us. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
Good job out there and thanks for putting out these videos. Your content is very helpful.
Dude. DUDE. Those numbers... Bananaville!
Great race and thanks for sharing the video and data! I swear my heart rate literally spins up 30-40 bpm watching those attacks and you covering. That perspective makes race coverage so much more interesting.
Love your work on these video's Dylan, you do a fantastic job.
Excellent race Dylan. at 7 hours its really impressive to see sprinting power like that as well.
Congrats Dylan. Insightful video as ever. Bring the Unbound set up. And good luck with this beast.
Keep it up. You are continuing to improve. I think we are all impressed.
Good effort. I have never used power, but your avg. speed for 7 hrs is impressive! The tires looked generally wide...
Would be nice to hear/see your bike setup!
I think Adam roberge has a recent one with Dylan on his channel. Maybe not for this exact race though
Geat result! Gives lots of confidence for Unbound.
Best of luck 🤞
I learn so much from this videos. TY
"Fragile egos" well said!
But what about "The Spirit of Gravel?"
Great race! Chapeau! Bike set up video please and thank you!
Congrats Dylan, great race performance!
Chapeau for our German rider Paul Voss winning the group sprint! 🤙
CONGRATULATIONS. great video.
I bonking just watching this. Thanks for all the details!
Nice work Dylan, it sounds like you did the best you could with what you had. Hope the form hold for Unbound, best of luck mate!
Nice video summary of the race. Good result Dylan. Keeping everything crossed for you for Unbound. Go smash it! 💪🏻
Awesome race, Dylan. Good luck at Unbound.
Thanks for sharing more racing content. It's inspiring, and educational :)
Congrats! Great performance. Thanks for all your awesome videos❤❤❤❤
Great video, as always. Thanks ❤
Congrats Dylan ! Great performance. And it's good to see Montreal based Adam Roberge win the race !
Now you got to dial that down for Unbound. Looking forward to seeing you in Emporia and then your post race vid. Appreciate the insight!
Great video Dylan. And congrats on a top 10 finish. Keep the videos coming. Thanks much.
Nice coverage, great racing!
THANK YOU for making such good coverage from inside the race. The power numbers and race tactics are crucial for those of us that want to get better to see. Or at least understand better what was happening. So cool!
Very well done, Dylan!
Those are some impressive numbers to pull off; and considering the competition, that's a result to be very happy about!
Great top ten! Awesome finish given the quality of riders.
Baller, dude! Nice job.
Great commentary as always... Really but my 22mile ride from this morning in perspective...
Great Race, Dylan! I did the 62 mile so I could go into Hico for the steak cookoff. I really liked the area.
yeeeees i want to see the unboand 200!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love this video thank you!!!!!!!!
More !!!!!!!!'s please
Congratulations, this was awesome and an amazing effort 🙂 I cannot even hold 200 watts for 10 minutes LOL!!!
Great vid.
Wishing you good legs and magic tailwinds tomorrow
Love to see the Amani guys in the action! Thank you
Love your race recaps! Very impressive race, Dylan ...
Great performance and loved the summary of the race!
Can't wait for your unbound video. Had some South African Friends race. Check out the MUNGA race here. Think you would love it.
Great effort, definitely a good sign leading into Unbound.
Nice work, Dylan. Good luck at Unbound.
Excellent work Dylan. It's good to see the Kenyans from team Amani staying with the lead pack for the entire race.
Just wait until Bala (aka Alejandro Valverde) gets interested in US gravel races ! 😅
A legend described by Merckx as the rider most like himself is still kicking butt.
Dude, you should be proud. Great job!!
Lets gooo Laurens ten Dam is a beast #liveslowridefast
Nice dylan. Now get good rest for that unbound. We all belive in you
Unfortunately still not many good gravel races in Europe. Would love to have a good scene here to race through the summer like you guys in the US
Good recap, thanks.
Great race! Great overview.
Such great performance, Dylan! For Unbound, Belgian rider Jan Bakelants will be present. He won a stage in Tour the France and will be in top form. Look out for him ;).
Congrats on your race Bro!! Good vid and analysis
Congratulations man!! Impressive stats 👍🏾💪🏾

I could tell you had decent form the two times you rode past my house the day before Gravel Locos! 👍
That power you put 😳😳! You did great.
Hey, nice video! Well done and I wish you the best at Unbound. BTW, Petr Vakoč's last name is pronounced ¨Va-coach¨. Just for future videos!
Good job Dillan
This is awesome. Thanks!!
Looking strong DJ! 💪🏻
Bro. Good shit ❤

Thank you
Dylan, how long does it take to rid your legs of fatigue after a 7 hour race?. Crazy numbers.
for us ordinary amateurs probably something like 6-9 MONTHS lol
"69 Months!!?? NO... 6 TO 9 Months". If you know this quote we can be friends... LOL@@delkim3691
Great race and race recap.
Ah I love these videos 🎉
plz show the tricks of your puppy paws optimization, looks like a super thick wrapping in the center part of the handlebar.

Congrats! Would love to see the bike setup!!!
Welcome to the future,
enjoy the competition.
Yes to bike set ups! Nice race!
Stunning result in that field!

Looks exhausting (sips beer from couch). 😊
