I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.
In my opinion, romantic love should not be on the highest pedestal. In my opinion, parents and siblings' family love is the strongest. Family knows who you are. Romance is fake for lots of people, put on a false persona and romance on most parts gets ugly real fast. For the reality of romance is no Disney love story.
Parents and siblings' family love is one of the strongest types of love there is. If romantic love is actually real, it would be one of the weakest types of love there is.

Idk why there’s still a Tifa VS Aerith discussion when Tifa was the only date cloud kissed on the skywheeel…like hello?????
It’s because of the way the story is structured with them both, it’s more Tifa at the start, Aerith in the middle and then Tifa at the end and beyond
The whole thing in the middle of the game is Cloud building a strong bond with Aerith before she dies with Tifa really taking more of a backseat role and then afterwards, Tifa comes back into the fold and reminds him why he loved her to begin with.
Of course they give Tifa more screen time and importance in Rebirth but the key themes of the middle of the story still prevail.
Bearing that in mind, I can’t imagine what part 3 will be like with a heavily expanded Cloud and Tifa character arcs as you can’t progress one without the other and since Cloud is the protagonist then I can imagine them expanding it. That means that Tifas will expand too by proxy.
Although I’m very pro Cloud and Tifa, I recognise that Rebirth is very much an Aerith game but I’m not about to lose my head because I know what’s in store for part 3 if they adapt the original story like they did in Remake and Rebirth

I agree. It feels like they set the player up to have a choice but in reality...they're really pushing Tifa/Cloud and the fact that she's the only one with a kissing scene makes that pretty clear. I get romance can exist in these stories without physical intimacy but still, they're going all out for Tifa lol. I don't really care either way. I just wish they would've had a story that was more set in stone rather than the illusion of romance with Aerith. I guess the Aerith/Cloud shippers would've boycott them for eternity if they didn't make it an option though🤣😭

So, heres my thing
The story of the remake trilogy is focusing on aerith a bit more but the og game did the same thing.
Right now cloud is still in his zack persona, but figuring things out faster than he did in og.
We see this happening when he decides to open up to tifa after the gongaga reactor incident in rebirth.
The main reason there a war between cloti and clerith is because the initial narrative is driving players to build a connection with the tragic heroine of the story, aerith.
They know that she is going to die and only have a short time to build on her character and connect her to cloud.
People constantly either misinterpret, reconstruct, or rewrite what actually happens in the overall plot of the story with their own understanding of the narrative.
Think of it like this, in the first part of the game we are lead to believe that cloud is an ex soldier 1st class, but the actual plot later reveals that he isnt.
The narrative is used to lead players into a direction of wanting to see the potential future of two individuals that could be an item.
Now, the elephant in the room that needs to be addressed is the date.
In both dates the narrative leads us to believe that both are romantic instances.
But when the narrative gives way to the actual plot we can go back and look at it from a couple different angles.
If you go with tifa then she'll try to give a type of confession to you/cloud.
If you go with aerith then she'll bring up zack and how cloud reminds her of him through gestures, mannerisms and appearance.
But...going back, neither of these were really romantic.
More like they eluded to the plot of cloud not being himself, hes someone tifa isnt familiar with based on her childhood experiences with cloud(yes he wasnt close to her as a kid but he was always looking at her, and she actively attempted to get his attention from time to time calling him out for pretending to ignore her).
And aerith is trying to both figure out if shes moved on from zack, and whats wrong with clouds act.
Aerith is a lot more aware of clouds actions and fake persona than is let on.
One is out of concern, tifa
The other is out of curiosity, aerith.
Plus the mechanical aspect of the game puts aerith at higher affection points because that was her repaying cloud for being her bodyguard.
Now, when the narrative gives way to actual plot and story what's revealed is that cloud was an insecure awkward kid that attempted and failed to join soldier.
All for the sake of tifa.
His insecurity complex started after the mt.nibel fall and him being blamed by the other kid's for tifas near death experience.
Even her father told him to stay away from her, so he had to ask tifa to sneak out and meet him at the water tower to tell her of his plan to join soldier.
Everything begins and ends with tifa for cloud, true cloud strife.
It all started with the promise.
The events that occur when hes "cloud fair" are focused on aerith.
But the story is focused on him and tifa.
Tifa is such a core part of his entire identity that when she cant confirm his memory of nibeheim that he mentally snaps losing what little sense of self he had left.
It was a major factor in causing his mako induced coma.
The reason cloud thinks of aerith so much is because he feels he failed her the most, he blames himself exclusively.
Believing that not only her death was his fault, but zacks as well.
It only added to the insecurity he felt when he thought he failed tifa from before.
So both sides of the shipping wars are technically correct when it comes to who cloud loved or in aeriths case he began to love.
Though we have to remember that the games timeline takes place in roughly a month. So cloud only had a week or so to get to know aerith while not mentally himself.
Whereas tifa has know him for years at this point, sure you can be objectively correct in saying they werent that close as kids, but it was mainly because of cloud not being socially capable as a child.
The entire plot and story of ffvii revolves around cloud and tifa.
The narrative focuses on a new girl that had the potential to live, move on from a past love and gain a new one.
(About to go from og to ACC)
It just couldn't be, aeriths overral role in the story, not narrative, is to be a guide for cloud.
A surrogate mother figure for him, setting him on the right path.
The path of acceptance for who he is, and in advent children it wasnt that he needed to learn to live with tifa and their kids.
Its that he needed to learn to live with himself, embrace the postives and negatives, move on from his past mistakes and finally to be where he belongs.
His new life, his newfound family, tifa, marlene, and denzel.
One more thing really quick, aerith even quoted tifa in the movie-"dilly dally, shilly shally...isnt it time you did the forgiving?" In order to give him that push in the right direction

You perfectly articulated exactly what I'd been thinking.
Plus we saw in Rebirth how Sephiroth is now treating Tifa as a threat, attempting to kill her. Just like Aerith, she too plays a significant role but Rebirth emphasizes Aerith because players need to build a solid connection with her for her death. I think the 3rd game will be more Tifa focused especially when it comes to her and Cloud resolving their memories together.

And the way they used sephiroth trying to kill her and the weapon in the lifestream only adds to both her importance and his character being that much more of a threat to the world
(Plus it gives him a more active role than before, making things more coherent in the story)
It may be a different type of weapon but the fact he basically one shot it trying to get to her was kind of wild considering how strong the named weapons were in the og .
Wow! I persevered and read it all. I just want to say that Tifa and Cloud is the most realistic story. It's beautiful. I love this couple because I see myself in them. My husband and I have known each other since we were children, but back then we didn't like each other. Now we are husband and wife. We are more connected to each other than any of the people we love and have 3 children. That is destiny, I hope everyone will meet their destiny.❤😉

Underrated moment that nobody talks about: in ch12 if you go find tifa at the skywheel BEFORE talking to dio, you get this absolutely amazing and adorable scene of cloud (and cait i guess whatever) basically hyping her up and talking through her insecurities and like. they’re everything to me 🥺

I'm glad they put more of an emphasis on Tifa and Cloud in this part of the trilogy. In the OG PS1 game it was more vague who Clouds love interest was and everyone just assumed Aerith was the love interest (She is somewhat but she's not in love with Cloud. This was even touched upon in Gangaga where she was trying to find Zack and told Cloud that she thinks she still has feelings for Zack) . I'm on Chapter 12 now and so far Cloud and Aerith have had very little to do with each other despite me even having the Gold Saucer date with her.
Well since you commented this before finishing the game. It's obvious Aerith likes Cloud since she confesses in that dreamlike sequence in ch 14. But many people are arguing about who CLOUD likes more, that's the big question since we know that both girls like him.
@@peppergirlrocks The only relationship that actually grows in Rebirth is Cloud and Tifas, Cloud and Aeriths strong bond they built in Remake doesn't evolve beyond that. She falls for him, which the dream date confirms, but other than that, the "situationship" between her and Cloud is surprisingly thin if you exclude all sidequests and ignore the optional dialouge etc.
And for some reason..... Her dream date in chapter 4 is excluded in NG+ if you choose to exclude Zacks storyline.......
The game just doesn't add up for a Clerith canon on scrutiny.
Maybe pt 3 will prove Clerith to be true but i just don't see the set up for that.

Unrelated thing but imo it's way better that her Gongaga lifestream part includes cloud walking away to be Sephiroths puppet it really makes it much more believable how she cares for Cloud because the guy has done a lot of shit outside of the clear fact that she has feelings for him
