Bramty im the same way about being affectionate in public, I honestly feel like it has something to do with my daddy issues lol! I don’t want to look like I’m giving into a man or that I’m giving him a part of myself because to me I feel weak and I feel like my family or strangers are judging me and think I look dumb. I know it doesn’t sound normal since i have also been with my husband for a long time, I’m 31 now and we have been together for 15 years 😂

I love this LMAO keep going!!!!! I am kind of uncomfortable sometimes in public when it comes to affection, it definitely has to do with how you've grown up. I kinda tie with both of you (how Luis isn't as affirmative). First with the affection in public, I never really had that growing up like we weren't huggy people or whatever. So it feels awkward or whenever, as kids (even with friends) we'd see people be affectionate its like "eww" or "bro they're so weird" like its a bad thing. Like someone would *always* say something about being touchy in public whether its holding hands or kissing. So you feel more comfortable doing it privately so people wouldn't say the same about you. It only really feels like a requirement sometimes since in my culture (chaldean) we have to kiss all the aunties at every family gathering and if not it's like disrespectful. Second with the affirmative, I also didn't really have that mom that was like "omg you look so good" or anything along those lines. It was more like she would just bring up what I should do instead. Its funny because I love getting affirmation but I may suck at giving it lol
As a young 16 y/o seeing kids in hs being pda or overly affective and not being able to be the same way, I feel like it's a form of self respect but again it could be pinned to something in my childhood but I too seek an explanation loll

Good point in saying that it takes time to get to a place of good communication and like unity as a couple. A lot of people have a hard time with that. It’s hard to know when it’s just gonna take time and when it’s not gonna work out. God can change people andddd the couple has to be in the same page and open minded to each other.

I’m literally the same way , affectionate always when it’s just us 2 alone but as soon as friends & family are around I shut down in that way & I feel like it’s me trying to be respectful because when I see couples kissing I kinda cringe and my husband feels some type of way because I get like that when we’re around people but it’s literally because i’m just being considerate for the other people 🤣
I am uncomfortable with being lovey dovey in person because of my family growing up they were never like that and also i have a judgemental family so I choose not to do anything in public because of fear of being judged.

i’m the same way, i don’t like being affection with my significant other around family or friends and i came to the conclusion that it’s because in my household when i was young its sounds bad but i lacked that around my parents like my parents weren’t affectionate to me, not to say they loved me lol but physical touch was and is not their thing it was more words of affirmation and i believe that that’s why im like that not only with me significant other but with friends and family too
