I don't even have a table loom yet, and I'm thrilled by this video. How nice to know that there still companies in the day and age that listen to customer feedback, and make improvements and modifications, without the customer needing to purchase a whole new loom. I've definitely been looking at Ashford table looms, and trying to find some used options around my area. 🥰
Hello Kelly, I had to watch the video a couple of times because I kept getting distracted by your hair. It was looking so beautifully fluffy today and reminded me of my Granddaughter. ❤❤
I always enjoy your videos. I do not have a table loom. Still refining my skills on my rigid heddle loom. However, maybe in a year or so I might be able to buy one. Love, love, love your videos.
Thank you so much. I live in NYS and it’s getting chilly so my weaving craving is stirring. (I usually enjoy our warm weather for outdoor stuff) my go to place for textiles is the Woolery so I will hop on and check this out!
You have such talent & knowledge with weaving. I just inherited a 4 shaft floor loom that was built to duplicate the floor looms used in the 1800’s. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it!! 😊
@KellyCasanova Wahoo. It shipped today. I love that it can be put on with a warp on the loom. Very much appreciate your excellent filming of the installation!
I have seen these on i think floor looms when i was researching weavig. I don't have table loom but want one. I have an 48 inch ashford rigid heddle and wish we could have something like that for them will be quicker then putting a pick up stick in the bottom shed and putting it on the side everytime u throw ur boat shuttle in the down shed so ursnuttle Won't go through the warp and hit the floor
I would be interested in knowing if the new style boat shuttles work better for table looms then the old style? The difference between the 2 is the end slopes. Old style the ends slope equally top and bottom. New shuttle slopes mostly on bottom and very slightly on top.
I have found the difference more in the length than the shape. I've been happily weaving with my original Ashford shuttles on table looms for a long time.
@KellyCasanova I have 2x 29cm both Ashford boat shuttle each different end shape. I can send you a picture showing the old and new style in the shapes. Every Canadian supplier I have spoken with has not been aware of the style change until I explain and one 1 had to send picture showing what I was talking about. I haven’t tried the new shape as I do t have project on loom at the moment and wasn’t sure to return or keep. I’m used to old style.
I have a questionn: still finding my way as a beginner. I was wondering,I would like to make 3 or 4 placemats at one sitting without warping & weaving each one separately. Is that possible(not sure if you understand my question)? Thanks😊
It's hard to say in the weaving world what is a totally original idea and what is influenced - I guess to some extent the majority of ideas are sparked or influenced by something else?
@@KellyCasanova well other than the ashford elastic. The guy did the exact same thing with from memory elastic bands. But it was the exact principle because his ashford didnt have a race :)
EDITED: I had my race board upside down. All fixed now. I just installed my new race into my 24" TL. I have the cords exactly correct on the race as far as I can tell. When I pull the beater bar forward all is well, BUT when the beater bar goes back to rest, the race board is tilted downwards. Any thoughts as to why?
If your shuttle race is slightly angled up in the video it does impact on the size shed a little. If you adjust the elastic cords so that there is no angle, it still does press on the underside of your bottom shed threads, which makes the shed very, very slightly narrower. This narrowing doesn't impact on the weaving in a negative way at all for me 😊
Hi Kellly, i just got my 24" ashford table loom last week and was wondering what i was doing wrong with my boat shuttle, thank for the info, do you mind telling me what weight yarn you are using in that pattern for the warp? I need to make an order for some overshot work and would like to just order once. Thank you again
@@KellyCasanova Thank you, it looks thicker than that to me, i guess it is doubled? Your work is an insperation to me and you have taught me so much from your youtube channel and the couple of classes i have purchased.Thank you so much.
Again Canadian suppliers aren't mentioned, not your fault, it's rampant! Sure the US has 345M, but Canada is between AUS 26.7M and UK 69M at 41M and yep we have sheep growers and indie dyers and Ashford suppliers. Thank you for all I have learned from you.
Honestly, I should be more on the ball with providing Canadian suppliers considering Canadians are my second largest audience here on UA-cam! I have Penelope Fiber Arts listed on my website as an Ashford supplier - do you know of any others that I can also add?

It's smart business to listen your customers, isn't it? Makes us all happier weavers 😀

Thank you very much! It was a rainy day which means my hair goes frizzy and fluffy! 😆
Add on shuttle race. Loving.
Agree!!
Even when you have a warp on already 😊
Thank you Kelly!!! That's what was missing, I hope it arrives soon to my country so I can order it 😊

Thanks so much for posting this, I just ordered one for my 32” table loom.
Awesome, hope it makes a big difference for you 😀
Thanks for this. Mine was sitting high in front of the reed. I’m hoping I can untie the knots to adjust them!
The knots can be fiddly, hope you can manage!
A pair of needle nosed pliers or some tweezers can help a lot with positioning the knots. :-)
Wonderful can't wait to get one . Thanks Kelly
You're welcome!
Thank you I have a woolhouse loom but you’ve given me something to think about. I love a good poser.
Thank you Kelly. I have ordered mine from The Woolery.
Wonderful, hope you love it!

Wow, that sounds interesting!
Wow, a beautiful loom
It is, very ❤️
Thanks Kelly. This is wonderful news! I paused mid video and ordered one...using your link, of course 😊
Wow, that's great Liz! 😀 What width is your table loom, I don't remember? 🤔
@KellyCasanova 24" and I have never managed to use a boat shuttle, so this is a welcome tool!!

well I just instapurchased myself a shuttle race. The dropping shuttle has been a frustrating part of trying to learn to weave
Hope it makes all the difference for you ❤️
Do you think they might bring out a similar gadget for larger Rigid Heddle Looms?
I doubt it. I think you really need a fixed beater for this kind of tool.
I would love to have one but I’m afraid it would be too hard to learn to warp.

Would love to have the room for this but don't have the room or money
I use my shuttle on the side to prevent the falling 😂

Yes, absolutely. When using a table or floor loom it is optimal to warp a longer warp to maximise how many items you can weave on one warp.
@@KellyCasanova Do I leave a space between each one so I can cut them after I remove it from the loom?
Thank you for this demo. Do you know if this new change is now offered as standard equipment if ordering a new 24”, 8 shaft, from Ashford?
It doesn't come with the loom (if that's what you mean?) - it's an optional extra for those who would like to purchase 😊
I wonder how much this came about because a guy made one just like this for his table loom a couple of years ago

Does the shuttle race make the shed opening smaller?

The warp and tabby are 8/2 cotton and the pattern weft is a fingering weight wool 😊

@@marcy-daveweber6265 The warp is 20 ends per inch, so yes, there are 2 ends in every dent of the 10 dent reed 😊

Mar interesa si pe mine.razboilul de masa Ashford sunt din italia cum las putea cumpara .va rog datimi una informatie
Ashford has this site listed as a dealer in Italy - www.tessereincontri.org
Do the elastic cords ever wear out, or do you find that they are pretty resilient? (asking anybody :) )
Good question! I've used them a lot and haven't had any problems with wear. They would be easy to replace if they ever did get too old.
Great news- does this mean if you buy a table loom you will now have the option of buying it with a shuttle race?
It's an optional extra. Like the raddle kit, it's a separate purchase for those who would like to buy it 😊
