Last time we were there, down with the logbook was a lil troll doll and a 10 mm socket. Whoever put the socket in there is my hero! I remember years ago, before the aluminum ladder was installed there was a jenky rope ladder. In the 80s we went with a group that did restoration work on the cave, removing ropes and string, scrubbing graffiti. Fun work with a great group of people.
Ive heard scuba divers from the university went down 200ft into the waters. The clay buildup was too much to work with and the water got too cloudy to go any deeper. They found old wooden ladders & oil lanterns from when the water levels were lower. Items likely from back in the 1800s when Peppersauce cave was discovered. Cool stuff, Ive always wanted to put a water drone to the test there.
Oh wow! That’s insane. I don’t think I would dive in that. Kudos to those who made the effort. Probably very very experienced and specialized divers. That’s amazing that they went that far down and found remnants of early exploration. Thanks so much for that info!
Im 24 now, when i was about 11-13 my father my uncle my brother and I did this cave. Its absolutely amazing. The color coded strings to help you get around from past cavers. We got to the library and found the lake as well. No idea how deep we got. I went thrice before it closed due to a cave in.
@@notafortnitegamer you totally can, I think Deathly Templar was either confused about which cave peppersauce is, or heard something false about a cave-in. I was in peppersauce cave last month with my little brother, we had no problem getting in.
@@calebcapener9275 thank you for the reply man, I got a friend flying in next week and we were looking to do the cave, any tips on locating the rabbit hole as soon as you come off that ladder?
Very cool, I’m almost 60, did it with friends in the 70s, have taken my sons there a few times. That’s where they developed the same passion for caving that I have. We just spent a week around Payson exploring several caves, had a great time!
Parts might seem like a beginners K but it’s really not those arrows are put there by a group of people from the grotto because people were putting spray-painted graffiti marks to find away in an out so they cleaned up the caves and got back to its pristine condition and they put Markers so people can find a way out without having to spray paint in the cave
Thanks so much for the additional info Katarina. I’m glad the markers were there. It’s definitely an easy place in which one could get disoriented in. Thanks for watching!
@@notafortnitegamer You have to back up the ladder and return to the Big Room. The entrance to the Rabbit Hole is roughly on the opposite side of the Big Room from the route to the lake.
It would be a better video without the loud music. It would have also been a lot better if they had shown more of the lake. What they did show just looks like an underground puddle.
That “puddle” goes a long way underground… the only way to see the rest of it is to dive in… that water is highly polluted. I showed the whole cave hike. It isn’t easy lugging camera gear in there and editing a video for people to view for free….
Hey, glad you liked it Dan! There were definitely a few tight spaces but nothing too bad. I was just stoked it wasn’t muddy and I was able to get down there before monsoon season hit :)
Regan, now that was cool! I will put it on my list for that area. You mentioned following the main corridor…is it easy to follow with just headlamps? Thank you for sharing such a neat adventure!
Hey James! Glad you liked this one. Yeah, there’s a few narrow spots but it’s all pretty obvious in terms of the direction in which you should go. When you get to the area with the logbook, there are a few branch offs. There’s a ladder section on the left as well as the right. Take the one on the right to get to the main lake, though both are cool! The other leads to another room after crawling through a small space.
Hey guys, brilliant video. So nice in that cave, not too busy or difficult to reach the lake at the end; my kinda cave. Yea I bet it’s nice to get out of the summer heat. Good idea to have a register book in those places, just for safety. Stay safe guys, 💙 from cold and torrential rain in Wales. 👍😀
Hey Rog! It was definitely cooler in there but wow was it humid. I was sweating as if I were in the middle of a marathon 😁 Glad you liked the video! Another rockhounding vid coming soon!

They also found soot stains on the ceiling underwater, obviously created when water levels were lower.
Been 20 years since I have visited. Thanks for this.

Yikes. I had no idea it had a cave in. It was really damp when we went as it rained a few days before.
I was there a few weeks ago with my bro, no cave-in
wait you cant go into peppersauce cave anymore???

20000! That's a shitload of visitors!
Sure is!!!
Awesome video, by any chance is there confirmation that the water has been compromised by an ecoli contamination? Feedback appreciated thank you!
That’s what I’ve heard too, from multiple sources. I’d definitely err on the side of caution with the water there.
I'm 58 years old and the 1st time I came here was with the cub scouts in about 1974 or '75.
Very cool! Any thoughts about going back? I love visiting places from my childhood.

Thanks for the video! How long does it take to go in and out of the cave?
Me and two friends walked this cave and it took us about 2hrs we was moving really slow.
Will put on my list of places to do to get out of the heat!!
Awesome video buddy
Great spot for you to take the kids! 👍👍
Hard to breathe down there. You guys look like you are doing better than I did
It was definitely a little stuffy! But the wind was blowing some fresh air in the entrance, so circulation was a little better than normal.

Once you find the rabbit hole after the ladder it turns into a whole different level of difficulty
Oh nice! Might have to check that out next time.
once you climb down the ladder, where is the rabbit hole at?

The crawl is very short.
Its really hard to watch for a claustrophobic person. 😵
I bet! There were some even tighter spaces we explored that I wasn’t able to bring the camera into ;)

Superrrr vedio
Thanks! I’m really happy you liked it!
You haven't 'done' this cave until you bring a female in the lake with you and sauce on each other.
lake is ecoli contaminated
