    I run the ADLG VW-10 from Autozone, it's electronic, and comes with the coil.. runs great AND it has lifetime warranty.

      Very interesting! I wasn’t aware of that one but will gladly try it out in the future. It’d be way easier to grab one from Auto Zone…if it’s decent

    I run one of these Empi 009 copies, but with points. Here's a tip: Keep the cap and rotor off your old distributor and transfer them to your Empi unit. The stock dizzy uses brass contacts which work way better than the aluminum ones on the Empi unit. My Empi dizzy works fine and cost very little, it does the job, I may upgrade it to electronic soon.

      Yup, bang for the buck, the EMPI dizzy has been great for me….I do hear bad stories though🤷🏻‍♂️

    The Electronic vacuum advanced distributor with the big heat sink is reliable and has a,great advance curve. it suits the 3ohm coil and works with wire leads too.

      Good to know, because buying the special coil and leads is why I haven’t spent for pertronix yet. These usually last a year or two so might check it out next go around

    Are you still running the ballast? Or can you just run a positive battery wire directly to the coil now!

    • @bomberobus
      @bomberobus  2 роки тому

      No ballast. A positive and a negative to the coil. That dizzy just died…lasted 10 months. Got what I paid for. Gonna keep running the cheap ones until I fork out for a pertronix.

      It’s still on time with no problems, and I haven’t had to touch it, being driven almost every day. Honestly though it seems to have mixed reviews. Some work good some don’t they say. It’s EMPI so you already know it’s a roll of the 🎲. Bang for buck, this one has been great.

    How did you get the Dizz to seat.

    • @bomberobus
      @bomberobus  3 роки тому

      It was extremely difficult and took several attempts with lots of grease. If you haven’t installed it yet, then I’d recommend using a different/used O-ring. The O-ring that comes with that dizzy is way too fat!
