The Cotton Club movie is good with Richard Gere, Diane Lane, Gregory Hines(RIP), Maurice Hines(RIP), Lonette McKee, Larry Fishburne. My only problem with the movie is Richard and Diane love relationship. Richard is 16 years older than Diane. Diane was 19 years old when she did this movie. The director should've got a woman Richard age to be his girlfriend. Richard and Diane did another movie Unfaithful. I'm not cool with older men dating young girls. Music singer R Kelly is in prison because of dating young black girls. Music singer Marvin Gaye married a black woman Janis Hunter when she was 17 years old. Marvin was 34 years old. RIP Marvin Gaye. But the film was reflecting a reality of the time..Diane Lane seemed be able to handle the role..In many young women some seems to maturate much faster than males.. She could have turned the part down. It was the film that launched her career..
It's being released as Francis originally intended, before a lot of the black characters' scenes were forcibly removed by distributors. The 2019 version restores the original version of the film, and is far more accurate to the time period for Harlem night clubs. It can't be "woke" if that's how it was shot originally.
I want that on 4K Disc, fully restored.
