I have the original red one. I think that the booklet that you have in the hands of your red Dingbot goes with your Japanese Dingbot. As shown on the box, the red original has a blueprint/map that comes with it. Mine is holding the blueprint..
Happy owner of an original red trimmed dingbot. Also have the later released SpotBot. It seemed to me that Dingbot and Johnny 5 got together and spawned Wall-E.
The Blue version is the newest version so should be easy to find, but they produced the white body ones for a long period of time, so used ones may be easier to find.
Yes running the motor with the functions it has then adding a light would just drain that AA battery. Now days they could put in a LED with a boost circuit and only add about 10ma of draw, but not back in the 1980's.
There was a kids movie wall-E also short circuit after him I remember the shape of the head . Thanks John 🤖👍🏻
Ps and Johnny 5 another robot
That’s the first thing I thought of: WallE.
I never knew about the other color variations, but I am glad I have the white and red one it's still my favorite.

Yes the books are in the boxes I just stuck the book in the hands for fun.

Unique tomy dingbots
Charming...Kind of like the robot on Fantastic Four cartoonz....Is the 'squeel' electronic? or mechanical?
It a fan blown whistle.
I think the robot on The Fantastic Four cartoon was named H.E.R.B.I.E.

Hello, the blue variant is the most difficult and the most expensive?, thanks excellent video! 🏅

I’m surprised that the eyes don’t light up. But that’s probably because it uses a single penlight battery.
