  • Ride along with Ladder truck 812 from the College Park Volunteer Fire Department to a reported house fire. While truck 12 was on the air, a call for a house fire came in and the truck was dispatched to that box. Squad 14 arrived at first and cancelled the truck when it was just a few blocks away from the scene - by Dirk Steinhardt - www.rescue911.de - College Park, Prince George's County, Maryland, USA - 06.2010

^^ ahh memories of the DC area :) lived in MontCo for 29 years. Visited PGC couple times (mostly to go to Wild World/Aventure World/Six Flags). Nice area :)

The sound of the Q winding down is the embodiment of the disappointment.

They were "On the air" which means they were out and about doing stuff when the call came in.

ryanlovestosnowboard ... So putting on gear at the scene takes longer than putting it on at the station? Welcome to the rural world - we often drive directly to the scene to meet the truck that has our gear - it takes less time to do that then it does for us to drive to the hall and then to the scene. Plus it is great to hear that your trucks never have accidents! Congratulations.

The driver usually has an extra foot pedal for the federal Q siren but I think the passenger usually uses the other sirens and/or horn.
