Overnight Tent Camping at McDowell Park

- Join us for our first camping trip of 2020. We headed to McDowell Park, a Mecklenburg County park just south of Charlotte, NC. It has both tent, RV and primitive camp sites. We stayed on a night where the temps got down in the mid 20. We built a fire, strolled around the campground, roasted marshmellows and were generally lazy.

Can you tell me the size of the tent pads at McDowell? I need to buy a new tent anyway and want to make sure it fits. Thanks.
The pads at McDowell are various sizes. they list the size on their website when booking. Our tent is 12'x17' and it has fit on all of them we have stayed at. check out the link below. it is their webpage and in the description it notes the pad size as well as proximity to bathrooms and water.

Great! That's the same one we are staying at in the near future. Looks like a nice place.
It’s our favorite so far. We did just stay at site D20 which was also nice. They have made some changes since they have been closed. There use to be a tree on D1 but it looks like they cut it down and made it into a bench or table? You’ll have to let us know what you think of the site. Enjoy!
