In the case of Guillermo Rigondeaux, Rigondeaux had been trying to face Lomachenko for years. Lomachenko would not deal in good faith though. Rigondeaux had originally tried to lure Lomachenko down to 122lbs to settle who was the true P4P fighter in boxing. Lomachenko wouldn't do it. So, Rigondeaux conceded and compromised. Rigondeaux then proposed that both men move 2lbs: Lomachenko down two pounds and Rigondeaux move up two pounds. This was agreed by all that this was the most fair compromise that could be reached. Lomachenko refused. In the end, Lomachenko moved up despite Rigondeaux actively trying to pursue a fight with him, Santa Cruz, Frampton and Mares. Rigondeaux never stopped. So, Lomachenko stated that and I quote " _If Rigondeaux is so good, he should come up 2 divisions and fight me there_ ". So, being the warrior that he is, Rigondeaux accepted the challenge against the advise of his team and his advisers. In that fight, NEITHER Rigondeaux or Lomachenko landed any meaningful punches or had any real moments. Rigondeaux injured his hand early on, but tried to continue on. The match was halted because Rigondeaux could not continue due to his injury. Lomachenko fans rejoiced and pretended that Lomachenko had somehow dominated the 2-division smaller Rigondeaux, but that was completely untrue. When asked what Lomachenko did by way of domination, fanboys often reply " _Rigondeaux couldn't do anything!_ ". So when asked " _Well what could Lomachenko do as he was 2 divisions larger_ " .. they often reply " _He didn't get beat_ " .. which addresses nothing while exaggerating what Lomachenko achieved in that match. Its disgusting how there is a complete and utter double standard pertaining to how one must win to be seen as best in boxing. And with only having 11 wins in 5 years as a pro, its plain as day that HBO and Top Rank are protecting Lomachenko and claiming that everyone is avoiding him as opposed to Team Lomachenko low-balling everyone they negotiate despite Lomachenko *NOT* being a bigger draw than anyone else. This is the desperation HBO has to import European White faces as the face of the sport. They feel as though boxing will be more profitable if Whites had more White faces to identify with. Kovalev. Golovkin. Lomachenko. Bivol. Josh Kelly. Tyson Fury. Carl Frampton. All the weight of a network and promotional companies like Top Rank are put behind those fighters in a effort to reach a specific demographic, but at the expense of better and more accomplished fighters.
