Fun fact: Those kids are Jennifer’s nephews and Bear (the older one) loved josh sooo much that it was easy for him to play Peeta’s son.
seriously?😍
True♡♥︎
Awww❤❤
I did wonder how much time they had spent together to develop that level of affection. It’s cute.
And the baby is Theodor Lawrence
Katniss being a mother didn't mean that all women need children to be happy'. It meant something much deeper. One of Katniss's biggest fears was that one day her children might be reaped into the hunger games. That's why she vowed never to have children. Katniss having children, in the end, happened to symbolize peace. That everything terrible was over and people could live and love happily with no fear. It meant katniss could have a life of security and happiness.
Absolutely!!! And it also symbolises that Katniss ultimately chose to create life rather than destroy it. Remember she had to choose between Peeta and Gale. Gale she described as being "fire" while Peeta is "flowers in the spring". Life vs death, love vs hate, creation vs destruction.
yeah I saw a lot of people mad over a female character having kids and a husband at the end when tbh what I see she's been through a lot and deserves happiness.
@@Femmeaesthetic Its not that people are mad she has kids and a husband. Its more the explaination behind the marriage and kid. Alot of books and movies depict women having her happily ever after only after marriage or kids. It grows the ideology that a woman will only be happy if she is a mother or a wife when in fact women can be perfectly happy without being either. Its perfectly understandable that people feel angry over this fact but this is not something that relates to katniss's story.
@@bananamanchester4156 Hih h wij
@@lucykim513 indeed. A good way to decide whether a storyline is based on outdated gender norms is to ask, would this story still work if the genders were reversed? If Katniss were male, this story resolution would still work- evidenced by the fact that it's also a good resolution for Peeta. In fact, Peeta is consistently framed as a warm and nurturing person, who had paternal feelings and actively wanted children with Katniss (without forcing her, she chose to give him children because she loved him). So while you are describing a pernicious trope, the trope doesn't apply in this particular instance.
"As I drift off, I try to imagine that world, somewhere in the future with no Games, no Capitol. A place like the meadow in the song I sang for Rue as she died. Where Peeta's child could be safe." Page 354 of Catching Fire

“There are much worse games to play” I read the books first, and that line… is just so powerful. It has so much meaning to it, I can’t even think of words to describe it.
I think it’s the best closing line for any series.
Exactly and it gives me like a wave of nostalgia and deja vu for no reason
@@jameson_coasterlover3411 same! It really does!
Agreed
@@jameson_coasterlover3411 same
100% agreed. I think that's in my top 3 closing lines of ANY book/movie, ever.
A while back, I saw a post on Tumblr talking about how Katniss and Peeta’s children aren't named and are simply referred to as “the boy” and “the girl.” They thought it was a good decision because, for years, every personal detail of her life was broadcasted to and known by everyone. Here, she decides “No, I won't let you know what I decided to name my children. You know everything else; let me keep this one secret.” And I couldn't agree more.
Weird theory
I interpreted it as a callback to the Reaping, and how the tributes were always referred to as 'the boy' and 'the girl' from their districts.
@@nwalden5744not at all
Rues Farewell playing in the background makes this even more emotional.
Chase Oliver this music is the saddest ever
Very sad music 😭
It’s weird I thought the flower Peeta was holding for his son was the same flower katniss used as a burial for rue
@@meekermoo752 Omg stop making me cry yall!!!!
Why? Rue was annoying
I always cry so much over this scene. Finally Peeta and Katniss got their happy ending they deserved. Of course they have to deal with so much after the war and the games, but finally they can find some peace and happiness together, with these beautiful children they sure can
yeah althugh its still bittersweet prim is dead but the games are over thanks to them
@@Ncholasbloom that is true
@@iceniss99 i like how the movies tried staying faithful to the books

It took her five, ten, fifteen years to finally agree. But Peeta wanted a kid so badly.
"When I first felt her[or rather, him in this film] stir inside me I was consumed with a fear as old as life itself"
I don't know why but this line really stuck to my head.
So what does that mean?
@@Ktui-nz3zy meaning that I merely quoted what was from the book because the movie did not show how long they waited before Katniss finally agreed to it and how deep their recovery process was
@@pinkishhaven5158 yeah the movie doesn’t state how long it actually is ,after the games, that Katniss and peeta actually have kids and don’t actually say what their names are at all. You don’t know anything about them except for the fact that they are Katniss and peeta so children
That time jump was probably the thing that annoyed me the most within the series. Like, they literally had two whole movies to fit the last book into and somehow they didn’t find the time to provide a resolution neither to several important character’s personal arcs nor to the fact that the rebellion‘s symbol just shot the rebellion‘s leader and everyone is just cool with that (?!). Like, we have seen the consequences for Katniss, but shouldn’t there be rioting in the streets? The rise to power of the next president after Coin’s death. Those are things that would have actually been interesting to see during those TwO mOvIeS
Also couldn‘t they have shown some scenes giving us context for Katniss and Peeta literally having children now? I would have been cool with a montage. Just… something.
@@troublemaker833 yeah, i really love how the book delicately handled how the survivors coped, especially Katniss. We followed through her depression, her ptsd, and even Peeta. I really loved that part. Too bad it wasn't included in the film adaptations.
Remember when Katniss said in the first book that she’s never having kids? :’)
that was because she didn't want them to possibly get chosen into the games and probably die. she only had kids because the game stopped. it never happend again. and Katniss had a kid. 2 infact. because the game she was in. The Hunger Games stopped and it never happend again.
Took peeta 15 years to convince her
I have read the booka several times. Everytime I read thee senteces where Katniss say "I am never going to get married and have children" I giggle and just think to myself "Ohh Katniss if you only knew, you are going to get married and have 2 beautiful children. You are going to be so happy with your amazing husband, Peeta and your adorable children. Your children are never going to experience the Hunger Games, thanks to you, Mockingjay, don't worry"
She meant to say never having kids with Gale
Because she wanted her future kids to live with hope, not with fear
The final chapter of this book is so beautifully written, it perfectly shows how everything katniss and peeta went through will stay with them forever, and how the scars of the war will follow them until the day they die, yet they carry on. Such a poignant, beautiful way to end the series.
Like how they ended the trilogy the same way it began: Katniss calming Prim before the reaping and now here
"There are much worse games to play."
😭😭😭 Katniss went through SO much, and it scarred her for life! Poor child.
"There are worse games to play"
I loved the hunger games so much
such a powerful ending and a tragedy
all she endured for the better of Panem
and her sister who she couldn't save 🥺
This wasn’t a ‘happy’ ending, but a peaceful and calm ending. This scene made me tear up, because Katniss and Peeta finally found piece. It may be a happy ending but I think a happy ending would be if her loved ones survived (her family, etc). This movie means so much to me and I’m glad that the two had found peace and happiness together because they suffered a lot and they deserved it. 💚🧡
It was a sad but also Bittersweet ending
Yes, in fact we have to remember that even Peeta lost his family and they can understand and support each other. I watched several time the full saga and every time I look forward for the very last 2 minutes of the film.
I cried so hard when I read this scene😭
omg me tooooooooooooooo
Yep when she said that she needs peeta not gale's fire. Like a daindalion in spring. Man
Same
I was upset when Katniss befriended gale bro
It’s literally the definition of a bittersweet ending I felt empty 😳
Learning later that those kids are her nephew's irl make so much sense, that baby is her double
Most satisfying scene *possibly* in all of movie history.
Best quotes ♥ in the Hunger games.
1. May the odds be ever in your favor - capitol
2. There are much worse games to play- katniss
3. Will you stay with me.... always - peeta and Katniss
4. Haymitch: stay alive
5.if we burn you burn with us- katniss
5. Happy hunger games - capitol
6. May your aim be as true as your heart is pure.- Alma coin
7. It's the ones we love most that destroy us. - president snow
"Snow lands on top" - President Snow, The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes
A little hope is good. A lot of hope is dangerous
8. It gets a little tedious after time, but there are much worse games to play.
8. ‘After you first games, I thought the whole romance was an act… it wasn’t until Peetas heart stopped and he nearly died that I knew I misjudged you, you love him’ - Finnick Odair
9. ‘I’m still betting on you girl on fire.’ - Cinna
10. ‘You love me, real or not real.’ ‘Real’ - Peeta and Katniss
11. ‘All I know is I would’ve saved myself a lot of trouble if I had thrown that bread to the pigs.’
12. ‘This one time I let you go, for Rue.’ - Thresh
13. ‘Nightlock, nightlock, nightlock’ - Katniss
14. ‘Good job sweetheart.’ - Haymitch
15. ‘Thanks for your consideration.’ - Katniss
16. ‘It’s takes 10 times longer to put yourself back together than it does to fall apart.’ - Finnick
17. ‘You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy.’ - Haymitch
The last quote makes perfect sense for Snow. Well we see what happened with him and Lucy Grey in songbird and snakes
This series means so much to me. It kept me up for nights and even today it fills my eyes up whenever I read or see this series. It's jarring and so emotional. I love every bit of it. 😭
Same!
Same.
It’s so bittersweet but I love the hell out of this ending
fr 😭
This field looks like the same one Lucy Gray and Coriolanus were sitting in the TBOSAS.
I believe it is 😮what a full circle moment
This isnt a happy ending. If you read the book, they're still haunted by the past. It pained them so much. :(
As happy as an ending as they could get. You don’t go through what they did and not have it affect you. But they now have a hope for the future.
it’s satisfying but not happy
It was never going to be happy. To quote Haymitch on [The Hunger Games]: "Nobody ever wins The Games. Period. There are survivors ... no winners."
@@nfsdude0125 yeah thats a rip off from the quote nobody ever wins at war. Its not a game that can be won. Not when you deal with life and death. When it involves death it is always a loss.
Why are you expecting a fairytale. ending though. It IS a happy, realistic ending. Period.
This has so much more meaning after watching TBOSAS. Snow's flaw was that he ignored every kindness he witnessed and experienced in adopting Dr Gaul's philosophy that humans inherently turn on each other and need to be controlled. (Was that her philosophy? Didn't read the book.) Having seen people turn on each other in the Games, Katniss could have made the same conclusion, but chooses to actively remember and constantly count kindnesses to counteract that misaligned worldview. Amazing.
You can tell even though she did not want any children Katniss adored them and i bet she gives them the best life possible. BEST MUM EVER OR WHAT!!!!!!!!!
It’s symbolism, in the beginning she didn’t want children because she didn’t want them to live the life she did, reaped into the games only to live a life of fear and hate. This scene shows that peace and security helps come, she feels it’s safe for children to live the life’s she wants them to have
But yea best mom lol😎🤙🏻
I love how you can see how much she loves kids in the books, from her sacrificing herself for Prim which other siblings never do, to immediately wanting to team up with Rue and taking care of her in the arena, and describing how it was wonderful to see children's faces light up when they got food after she won the hunger games. The fact that she finally allowed herself to consider having a family because the world was finally safe was just wonderful
I watched these series twice and always love the ending. When peeta and katniss finally can dealing all of the fears they have. Even when katniss didn't want to have child, and finally she did it really heart warming. Symbols of happiness of her life that she believe she didn't trust.
I love PEETA AND KATNISS💝
i remember that in the books the toddler was a girl and the baby was a boy. Just a fun fact for anyone who doesn't know
I wonder how much convincing it took 😂
Cause Katniss didn’t want kids.
But it seems like she found peace which is why she decided to have them.
In the book it took her 15 years to agree
It symbolizes that she finally feels safe enough to bring children into the world. She didn’t want to have kids before because she was afraid they’d be reaped into the games.
If you pay attention at they end when Peeta is getting a hug he gets head butted and the look on his face is funny
0:56 the kid be like "damn mom that's dark why can't u sing me sth"
I can imagine her kids learning about the hg in school and the kids being like “that’s my mom!”
This scene and the swelling music always gives me goosebumps
Such a beautiful story! Sad it ended :c
Jennifer lawrence is so beautiful in this movie
she just had a baby too
This scene is beautiful yet so incredibly sad. You can clearly see that katniss (also peeta) suffers from PTSD bcs she has constant nightmares about the things she saw and had to endure.
When she said this in the books I was sobbing
These are really strong lines in the book. In the film they are just flat.
just like Frodo, just like Katniss, some wounds never truly heal ...
Me watching this for more than fifty times but crying each one
0:20 Katina’s sushing the baby
Now Jennifer can have a Family life with her own child IRL. She must be very happy Because of that. Wishing her Family all the Best.
Harry: "Albus Severus Potter, you were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I've ever known. Slytherin house would have gained a wonderful young wizard. But, if it means that much to you, you can choose Gryffindor. The Sorting Hat takes your choice into account."
Katniss: "Did you have a nightmare? I have nightmares, too. Someday I'll explain it to you. Why they came. Why they won't ever go away. But I'll tell you how I survive it. I make a list in my head, of all the good things I've seen someone do. Every little thing I can remember. It's like a game. I do it over and over. Gets a little tedious after all these years, but there are much worse games to play."
Newt: "Dear Thomas, this is the first letter I could remember writing. Obviously, I don't know if I wrote any before the Maze. But even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last. I want you to know that I'm not scared. Well, not of dying, anyway. It's more forgetting. It's losing myself to this virus, that's what scares me. So every night, I've been saying their names out loud. Alby, Winston, Chuck, and I just repeat them over and over like a prayer, and it all comes flooding back. Just the little things like where the sun used to hit the Glade at that perfect moment right before it slipped beneath the walls. And I remember the taste of Frypan's stew, I never thought I'd miss that stuff so much. And I remember you. From the first time you came up in the box, just a scared little Greenie who couldn't even remember his own name. But from that moment you ran into the Maze, I knew I would follow you anywhere, and I have. We all have. If I could do it all over again, I would, and I wouldn't change a thing. My hope for you - when you're looking back years from now, you'll be able to say the same. The future is in your hands now, Tommy. I know you'll find a way to do what's right. You always have. Take care of everyone for me, and take care of yourself. You deserve to be happy. Thank you for being my friend.
Goodbye, mate.
Newt."
Every time I watch all the hunger games movie the end of mocking jay
part2 makes me cry so hard that I will
actually have to go wash my face off before I start crying and i still cry after that I love the hunger games series with all my heart the characters, the story line, everything about it is amazing and it has inspired me so much I will never stop loving the hunger games🥹😭❤️
Katniss being a mom wasn't to add fairy tales and babies and none of that stuff in the end but rather to balance off her pain and to finally be able to have a family. If you truly think about it she never had a family. She had a mom who neglected her and was more weak and in need of her than the other way around meaning she had to be a mom for her sister without even being able to be a child. Then she lost her father which I think was the image she held onto as bravery when life got tough on her. I think having the family was a way to put her off the trauma and survival mode state she was constantly in
this music always makes me cry
In The Maze Runner Trilogy, if Teresa lived in the end she and Thomas could've started a family. And if they had a son, they would've named him Newt. I kinda wish that Teresa did survive. She and Thomas always loved each other.
When people choose to have children instead of feeling an obligation to, it is that they are feeling optimistic about the future.
Also great ending statement: "There are much worse games to play...".

I'm actually glad Katniss started a family. But she entered this war for her sister and she lost her sister. There were so many losses that I don't feel like saying a happy ending. Moreover, she did not become president. I was suiting her with Gale throughout the movie, even though I knew Peeta was the one who deserved it the most. Their ending with Gale was ridiculous. But I'm happy for Peeta and Katniss.
Best. Movie. Ending. Ever.
Would have been cool if katniss woke up back in the hunger games after having been stung by the tracker jackers, and all of this was a dream of how she wished things would have been.
I’m honestly really surprised they had kids after all that.
In the book it says Peeta wanted kids badly, but Katniss took 15 years to agree ever since they got back to District 12. 15 years is ample time to at least start healing...and hoping.
