how is it possible to not have your heart swell and burst with this lovely ramblings. he just feels like family. and we were taught just not to wear our hearts out, but to hide it away forever, instead.
Thank you for posting this! I'm writing my undergrad thesis on Silver and Gold, and I just quoted this story like three times in my paper. You're awesome!
This song was playing in my youth. The snow was falling outside. The fire. The world couldn’t hurt me. I love the holiday of Christmas. Not because of the religion or anything. But for the memories. The memories you feel in the Day and the music. Emptiness? Maybe. But it gives me something. I don’t know what it is. But Sufjan gives me Some Clues. :)
Going outside Shoveling snow in the driveway, driveway Taking our shoes Riding a sled down the hillside, hillside Can you say what you want? Can you say what you want to be? Can you be what you want? Can you be what you want? Our father yells Throwing gifts in the wood stove, wood stove My sister runs away Taking her books to the schoolyard, schoolyard In time the snow will rise In time the snow will rise In time the Lord will rise In time the Lord will rise Silent night Holy night Silent night Nothing feels right
His parents are divorced but remarried and had other children, which is how it gets complicated. From an interview with Radio New Zealand: "There's step-siblings and half-siblings, so I think it's a total of... six. I have a total of six siblings." I believe it's two brothers and four sisters.
Sufjan tells a lot of lies when he's telling stories, especially at concerts, so it's pretty hard to tell what is actually true or not. :P Well, not lies, but he's a story teller, so he embellishes A LOT. haha it's what's great about these stories, they're often so fake. Like for example, just for The Predatory Wasp, he's told like at least 5 different stories on what it's about. :)
@ 7:26 i Absolutely LOVE how he reaches out of his way to the piano to play only one single note for the whole entire song :) magical and pure
I am so vastly in love with that man.

Sufjan's struggle to get his grandma a gift further proves that he really is the Greatest Gift of All.
let us find all the delighted people that have this gift in their soul
No probs! I just love his endless, rambling monologues. He could get up there and just talk for an hour and I'd love it :)
+Nic S (jijipunch) He should start a podcast.
"pokemon!" "that's too young for him"
lmao
So I just found out that people who listen to this guy tend to be the smartest, so in an effort... Here I am

唯三爱的男人
Have we come up with a word that means only gay for sufjan stevens yet?
sufjams back story is so confusing. I thought he had just one brother and his parents were supposedly divorced and on opposite sides of the country.
He does have only one brother, but he has like 3 or 4 sisters.
