I'm 17 taking the dave ramsey curriculum in school and listen to him sometimes on UA-cam and I'm super excited and plan to retire with a few mil in the bank lol 😆
Baby step burnout seems like for those people that don't stop stressing over money. I'm passively following the baby steps, meaning I created a plan to pay all of my debts off and then I set it on cruise control and live by the budget I created. I literally don't even think about it anymore. Anytime I have a question, I refer to the budget, make an adjustment if I need to but most of the time I don't. Autopilot is key man.
I also "autopay" my savings (manually). I'm out of debt but I need to keep adding to a reserve account for car maintenance and repairs and the emergency fund. So the FIRST thing I do every month when I receive my social security check is to transfer $150 from checking to savings (online). Quick, easy, and I forget instantly that I even had it to spend.
I am at step 4,5 and I just found out I am going to be a father. It can get stressful. But I am glad I am atleast out of debt with an emergency fund before the first kid is born.

This sounds more like life stress than baby step burnout. He needs to sit down and figure out what he can do for himself amid this pandemic, and take some time/money for his own well-being.
New parents have been going through the same motions as him since time immemorial. He needs to break up the monotony. Get kids outside. Get them tired. A tired kid is a good kid. It’s just like a dog. If you take your dog for a daily walk for several miles, it will be the best dog. Simple as that.
We have 9 children. Everybody made fun of us for having a big family. But they are the greatest gift of all! We still live in our old home. We still have used appliances and very used cars. We will never be "Everyday Millionaires", but we have enough to live on. We go on plenty of vacations, even though our yearly income was never more than $48,000. My husband retired fairly early, because his back was hurting from his occupation. We never had a car payment. Almost all our children have college degrees, and everyone takes care of their own homes/families/bills. You don't have to stop at 3 kids. We are very blessed!
You must have to love kids because to me, I just feel like they would be burdens. I mean I have not had any of my own yet, but just looking at the financial side of things and how I struggled through life thus far; why would I put other lives in that same predicament? Why would I want to have to raise them?

This is exactly what I've been feeling. Dave has you going at gazelle intensity for abt a yr, paying debt and saving, then you get to BS4, and it's like "What's next"? You can't spend all day watching your 401k balance. The only math is budgeting every month, but I'll take it! 🤷🏾♀️

I’m glad I’ve heard this! I’ve been doing bean & rice! Hard core for around 3 years! It’s nearly broken me! I’ve got £75k left ! I feel it’s worth it! But I’m self employed working as a model/ actresss / dancer - I’m scared if my career comes to the end! Because I’ve been so stressed & haven’t been training as I have not wanted to spend the money on it! It wasn’t the best booking season. Which has made me nervous! I wish I knew abit this earlier ! In my 20s as I woukd if given me a lot of time to do this! Getting rid of a mortgage is so important! I need a break tho & holiday, I’ve been too stressed. Been In golzel mode is addictive. I came out of a relationship 3 years ago & threw myself in work feels like I havnt stopped since

2-3 kids is fine I think but when you start having five or six kids like people I know, and then they're struggling financially I scratch my head as to why their having that many kids.
This is great! I'm just shifting to these steps, so good to remember that it's a marathon. And, maybe build in some rewards like budgeting for family vacations. We also budget fun money for both husband (motorcycle) and wife (art).

When working from home, a great way to separate work and home life if you have the privilege of a back garden is to build some form of small outbuilding for you to work from and use as an office. No kids allowed. I personally don't do this but have many colleagues who swear by it.
If you work from home, you need to find a place (Starbucks, etc.), get a nice laptop, and work from there for a while, at least a few times a week. As for the kids, do daycare during those days if needed, just for peace of mind.

Build 1000 dollar emergency fund, get on a budget, work a debt snowball paying down smallest to largest on your debts till you are debt free. Second phase: pay down extra on mortgage, invest 15% into retirement accounts, invest into secondary investments in cash. Don’t go back into debt. That’s pretty much it.

I’ve got one child, who doesn’t live with me but visits and I already don’t want any more. Love her to death, but multiple kids is a financial hardship unless you make sacrifices or you have a 6 figure or higher income. Don’t get me started on those families with 8+ kids...insanity!!!

A lot of people's problems would be solved if they just stopped having so many kids. I will never understand the need to have more than 1-2. Everyone I know with 2+ kids is absolutely miserable and struggling to make ends meet.
I mean a big one is that if everyone only had one or two kids we would be even further below replacement rate than we already are. We should be doing everything to encourage people to have LARGER families, not smaller.
