I adore this tea bag journal. Think I will give it a go, I just emptied about 50 or so dried tea bags. When I started collecting them, I asked a woman in our parish to contact anyone she knew in our congregation to save theirs for me. So far, so good! :)
I've also enlisted friends and family on the quest for collecting tea bags to speed up the process for future journals. I also see your enquiry about a sealing agent. I use acrylic wax purchased here in the U.K. I have a video explaining all the details you can look in the search bar for a tutorial on acrylic wax.
What a trail blazer you are...and the 'cuppa glories' sally forth! The visual softness is so appealing. There is a gentle comfort from tea and a kindness in sharing it; some how these come thru with this journal. I'm so looking forward to the finished expression!
Shannon, thank you so much for a lovely compliment. I'm indeed brewing many different infusions and tasting flavours from around the world. Within a few more days I hope to share some new pages from my journal.
Thank you Laura, I really should try coffee as an alternative to gauge the different results. The colours would be much richer and much darker. They could be combined...........you got my brain ticking....lol
This is why I have been hoarding my tea bags!!! What an awesomely beautiful journal - ironing tea bags......my husband is going to get a kick out of that!!! Thank you for sharing this gorgeous art project. I’m a new subscriber- glad I found you.
Wendy, I hope you had lots of fun ironing and piecing together all your wonderful teabags. I'm not sure if I can still see an image of your husbands face as you set up the ironing board but it made me smile and chuckle.
I love your tea bag pages. My favorite is the fox tag. I have started to collect square tea bags, but so far it is far not enough for even one page. I will try sewing to see how it works. Great to follow your tea bag journal process. Take care Michelle.
Pirjo, I've had a suggestion for atc stamped and made from tea bags. This way you can work in a much smaller way and save you drinking or making lots of cups of tea. I'm out of square tea bags and will be shopping for a mixed selection! My taste buds would love a change.
I do wish we had a heart option also instead of a thumbs up only. I would so click the heart on this video. You so carefully explain so much of what you do with these bags and I am just so surprised at how well the teabags handle being sewn. Thank you for your time on this video. You are a really great instructor.
Deborah what a wonderful compliment. I couldn't have asked for a better response (Such A Big Thank You!) Its very surprising what the humble teabag will withstand without falling apart. Working on collage pieces in small scale will be sharing in the next few days.
Thank you ever so much Rita, its a real pleasure to read your comment. Just been stunned with your amazing inches its late so will be taking a more detailed peek tomorrow. Thanks again Michelle
This is lovely! Beautiful shades of Brown's and pinks from the different teas! I have been saving my tea bags for quite awhile, I'm not even sure what for. I don't have a sewing machine yet, but thought I could try stamping and maybe adding to tags and such. Thank you so much for sharing this! I love it! ❤
Just been chatting and a suggestion has come in for atc size tea bag art. So if kept small you may wish to add a small amount of hand stitching alongside the stamping. I'm thinking about adding buttons and some extra bling as a new direction to cover. Also the tags work because you can again alter the size to fit your work!
Thank you Angela for the request otherwise you would've had to wait until I'd finished the whole journal. Just waiting for our local shop to open, its not 6 a.m yet because I don't have any more square tea bags in the house. Lol
This is so wonderful to me! I started tea bag journal pages ages ago and I have zip bags full of dried tea bags to do this very same thing! I always have a plate of drying tea bags on my kitchen counter that people who visit ask me what it is for. I thought I was the only one who did this but here I see many others have thought of using dried tea bags also. So exciting to me! I love your journal! It's very lovely! I look forward to seeing how you finish it. Thank you so much for sharing it!
Then Janie, I hope we can both evolve together. I'm keen to push the humble teabag in new ways. I've quilted and stitched the odd one, made embellishments but feel I've got so many different things to discover, I hope you feel this way too. .
Michelle I love it. I have quite a few fruit flavored tea Blueberry, pomegranate Apple cinnamon, LOVE my Chia tea I may even have Blackberry. I love the Stamping.
Yesterday I started drinking Strawberry and Raspberry for the brilliant rich pink. I've finished all my Chia and have a box of Blackcurrant and Blueberry in my stash. Currently dyeing some more wool blankets with any left over tea.
That would have been ever so kind Ann, Its all trial and error but have turned some tea bags nearly black/purple some pink and may try some fresh mint from my garden.
Never tried Basil or Rosemary so these will be put onto the list. Plus I'm struggling with the pomegranate tea not able to purchase currently in my home town.
Eileen, thank you ever so much for taking the time to watch and leave such a positive comment. I must apologise for replying so late but believe me your words are so appreciated. Good Luck with the tea drinking.
Absolutely gorgeous tea bag journal 👏🏾. I don’t think we have round tea bags in the USA. All my tea bags when purchased are in square shape. Your tea bags give interest with the different shapes. TFS !!
April, I can suggest looking in Walmart for English Blend Tetley tea in a purple packaging at approx $3 for 80 round tea bags. Did a quick search and hope this helps you on the round teabag hunt.
Snap! I brought whilst they are currently on offer, Tesco's is all we have in our local area. I will catch up very soon but I must get going before I'm late for work. Good luck...
Thank you Faydra, got some Strawberry and Raspberry tea infusing in a clear tea pot. I'm looking for a real touch of colour to do my next page......plus it tastes great too.
Thank you ever so much for your subscription and Blue Mac your comment is so appreciated.. I like to try and add a little interest into my work and aim to try different ways with items I can readily find at home.
I need to start saving my tea bags, I love these, thanks for sharing. I get round tea bags, here in the U.S., at Trader Joe's. The flavor I've found them in is their Irish Breakfast black tea.
Dear Roz, thank you for sharing with myself and others within the community where they can also buy round teabags. It really is a great help to myself as I struggled when I first posted this video. I hope you can develop a small or large scale project from teabags and enjoy the final results.....Good Luck and most of all have fun!
Bravo 👏🏾 I’m so inspired by your ideal of making a journal using tea bags, that may try it myself. Your work is so awesome. Just would love to find round tea bags here in the States. The round tea bags give the pages so much interest. TFS
Oh yes work, my alarm is set for 4.30 a.m nothing like the morning shift. Sadly nothing exciting but helps bring in the extra pennies for all my second hand purchases. After work I'm always keen for a little rest and an odd hour crafting before dinner and chores. Sound familiar?

BRILLIANT!!! Michelle, that is GENIUS!!! I wish my mother was still around so I could show her what you can do with a hoard of tea bags. P.G. Tips makes for an interesting shape, tho. I've just used them in backgrounds in collages, but this opens up a whole new world. I was imagining you picking thru tea bags and I thought, "I would be right there with you." Ha! :-)
Good old P.G Tips just been down the local shop for some milk and not surprisingly some more tea bags. P.G Tips are on offer but could I cope with introducing a pyramid shape into my junk journal and cause another riot on availability. Boy I didn't think round tea bags would cause a small mount down. Lol Each break I had whilst doing my summer school down to the cafe I'd go collecting the teabags and nipping back into class. The girls on my table had a jolly good laugh and started to collect on my behalf!
LOVE that you got people to start collecting! I know I've seen round tea bags here in the States. Not such a big deal. Besides I would think it's not the shape of the tea bag that matters; it's the innovation of using a tea bag no matter what the shape. I will add pyramid tea bag page to my LIST of projects. Which means we'll see it sometime next year. Ha! ;-)
When I first posted this video I was so upset for not realising the difficulty I'd originally cause for not being able to direct individuals to Tetley Tea, British Blend in a purplish box is what I've just found out in the last few days. So I'm more than delighted you have also had joy finding round teabags. I shall not feel as guilty knowing I can at last say with some confidence round are available from Walmart. Thank you Gwen your comment gives me a very big insight which without booking a flight across to the U.S and taking a shopping trip myself you have been my eyes and ears on the ground on my behalf.
Hello Michelle from the US, have enjoyed your wonderful works of art. But I have a stupid question about tea bags ( I am a coffee person). Do you use the bags and then let them dry and remove the tea leaves? Or just empty them and not to all the preparations of tea? Love your art work.
Carol, there is never a stupid question. I use the tea bags first so enjoy a cuppa then leave to dry. Once dry empty the tea leaves. Iron flat, sandwich between parchment paper and an old iron with a towel underneath. Then work from there. Never worry about asking questions, I'm all to willing to answer as best I can alongside other individuals I'm sure. Many thanks Carol
Thanks for the reply so soon. I have watched a lot of channels on tea bags but yours drew me in so some reason. I may have to start brewing tea now so I can get some tea bags started. Many thanks, Carol
I wasn't certain of the process also.. So I'm very glad you asked.. (and thank you for the gracious reply!)...I now want to try this also..such beautiful results!
I could never imagine a whole book made from tea bags, it looks amazing. Like that pink I've been searching for tea that stains pink but lots you think will stain pink come out blue. Could you tell me what you used to get that colour?
I know that Bigelow Cranberry Apple stains pink. Also Stash Pomegranate Raspberry Green Tea. I'm in the US so I don't know if these are available where you live.
A teabag controversy, how silly. What if we do an exchange? I’d be happy to prepare some of the square vs “Lipton” tea size for some of the round ones. If anyone interested please let me know. I’m so sorry, I should have first said how beautiful and inspiring your work is!
Laurie, in my heart I would love to send you some round teabags but I'm afraid that I can't commit currently. We have two close family members whom are exceedingly poorly. I'm rather hit and miss with all my swap partners and would feel best if I didn't take on any more just whilst we have so much going on at home. Please except my apologises Michelle
Michelle White I totally understand. I’m a 24 hour caregiver for my mom and what I can and can’t get depends on how she is doing on any day. So I understand not making plans/promises that you can’t keep. I do the exact same thing! Wishing you and yours the best. -Laurie
Hi Tami, yes the triangular ones have been left out for one good reason. When cut they turned back into a stumpy rectangle shape which I decided would be to confusing to explain and a little small for this project. I have used a few in my teabag zines but used Yorkshire tea and Tetley in this piece of work. I'd love to hear how the teabag collecting is going and would be so pleased if you have started out on any new projects working with your recycled tea bags? Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me your comment, its so appreciated and it helps me see my projects from a different perspective.
I hope to offer a wide and varied approach to my journals, and projects. As I learn I hope to share what I've learnt along the way. So thank you ever so much for taking the time to watch endless videos with me waffling along. xox
The Ice tea sounds lovely........ If I make a teapot and it goes cool before I finish the pot, I also freeze the left over brew ready for another staining project. So I have a selection of strawberry and black tea within reach. I also freeze my avocado skins, as I don't eat very many so once I have a small collection I then boil them up. The family do pull funny faces when they see whats sitting alongside the lamb chops in our freezer.
I adore this tea bag journal. Think I will give it a go, I just emptied about 50 or so dried tea bags. When I started collecting them, I asked a woman in our parish to contact anyone she knew in our congregation to save theirs for me. So far, so good! :)

I have fallen in love with this journal. What a beautiful concept.
Thank you ever so much Karen, stilling drinking tea and altering the colour and style for future pages.
omg! I've been collecting tea bags to do this, with, but couldn't find anyone really doing it. now I find this!! So beautiful.
Thank you Julie, I hope this gives you some general ideas for you to try at home. Tea bags are more than a humble cuppa tea....lol
I so love this, I love all of your stamps and stamping but the stamped tea cups are lovely. Hugs, Kathy
Thank you Kathy, tea cups came free with a stamping magazine!
Michelle I really love 💕 that journal.....so awesome and beautiful and clever. You’re so talented and clever thank you so much 😊
Mags you are making me blush, thank you for being ever so kind and my apologises for such a late reply.
This is such a lovely journal , I love it.Take care, Jane.
Thank you Jane.
Such beautiful work. I absolutely love this journal. It also works with coffee but tea smells so much nicer once dried.
Thank you Laura, I really should try coffee as an alternative to gauge the different results. The colours would be much richer and much darker. They could be combined...........you got my brain ticking....lol
Love your little tea bag journal!!! Your work is so inspiring!
Thank you Judy.
Well eye rolling and a shaking head was involved! 😉💗
WOW..I love it..I would of never thought to use tea bag that way..thank you for sharing with us.
Liz your more than welcome.
That is awesome! I paint tea bags. Never thought of putting them together. Nice video. Thank you!
Thank you so much Jo, I hope you have fun playing around with this new technique.

I love this idea for using tea bags. It's the best one I've seen and it looks wonderful. New subbie now. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

If I haven't said before try looking in Wal Mart some stores sell Tetley English Blend teabags in a light purple box. I promise you they are round.
It is so wonderful, thank you for sharing
Thank you ever so much Lonna.
Beautiful and such a great idea! TFS!
Thank you Gail.
Very beautiful!
Thank you ever so much Hope.
I sure do! I just wish I didn't have to work to pay for my paper addiction then I could create and discover even more!
Absolutely Amazing, I Love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ever so much Fonda.
This is very cool!!! I shall try this.
Good Luck, enjoy x
So lovely! 😍
Thank you kindly Elise.
Wow, brilliant!
Thank you ever so much Anastasia.
TFS your lovely book and tutorial of tips and techniques. Wondering if you reinforce your cover with extra layers or a sheet of paper.
I was aiming for a junk journal just from tea bags but today have seen a tea cosy being made from tea bags which has a cotton linen background sewn on. So I see no reason why you couldn't add paper or fabric to give the album that extra reinforcement. Thank you Jay I hope this helps, the tea cosy is on you tube if you want to take a look.
Amazing.... I love it..tfs! ❤❤
Thank you ever so much Junk Journals and more.
Melt Down- rather than mount down!
Ha! ;-)
That's how my slightly dyslexic brain read it! :-)
Nice your work. I want to ask how did you print or transfer images on the teabags?
Wow its Beautiful
Amazing!💕
Thank you Diana.
We have round tea bags in the US... Tetley...☕️
When I first posted this video I was so upset for not realising the difficulty I'd originally cause for not being able to direct individuals to Tetley Tea, British Blend in a purplish box is what I've just found out in the last few days. Your very welcome Carol.
I wasn't certain of the process also.. So I'm very glad you asked.. (and thank you for the gracious reply!)...I now want to try this also..such beautiful results!
OMG how amazing
Thank you so much.
I could never imagine a whole book made from tea bags, it looks amazing. Like that pink I've been searching for tea that stains pink but lots you think will stain pink come out blue. Could you tell me what you used to get that colour?
Margaret the pink tea bag came from a selection box of Twinings tea. I shall report back once I've established the correct berry mix which turns pink!
I know that Bigelow Cranberry Apple stains pink. Also Stash Pomegranate Raspberry Green Tea. I'm in the US so I don't know if these are available where you live.
Thank you Paula I'll have a good look for those teas, I live in Scotland but we drink lots of tea so I may be lucky even if not the make you mention.
Thank you so much Paula, very kind of you to share this information.
Twinings Strawberry and Raspberry done a lovely pink batch today.
A teabag controversy, how silly. What if we do an exchange? I’d be happy to prepare some of the square vs “Lipton” tea size for some of the round ones. If anyone interested please let me know.

You forgot triangular tea bags! The pyramid ones! Do they still make those...???? Lol! I don't drink tea, better ask hubby to save his!
Hi Tami, yes the triangular ones have been left out for one good reason. Just a note to everyone: Tetley Tea has round tea bags! Hope this helps
Thank you ever so much Eileen, this is great news.

LOL. I just made a Gallon of Ice Tea, using Round Tea Bags...Saving them to make copy paper to make Tags...
The Ice tea sounds lovely........ If I make a teapot and it goes cool before I finish the pot, I also freeze the left over brew ready for another staining project.
