Ying, when you are extracting the gems try to see if you can slowly crack around the gem itself. if you do that, you won't make fractures inside the gems themselves and then you can pull out larger pieces. I have seen you take out amethyst that you probably could have gotten a higher price for but it came out in 2 pieces when it could have come out as 1 large piece. You may want to look up here on UA-cam a gemologist or even other guys from places like Russia that are really good at getting gems out of the earth. Usually they will show you their tricks. Here in the USA people who live in the Appalachian Mountains, some of them completely live off of finding gemstones in the summer. Usually they find rubies, low grade diamonds, sapphires, all kinds of opal, and even emeralds. Until the stones are cut most people just think they are crystals.

I remember when I was 6 years old me and my brother wanted to dig to find big rocks but my brother got lucky and found alexandrite but it was medium sized but really precious and finally it took me 1-2 hours and I found a large rough emrald which isn't really rare but at least I found a pretty gem too

Diamonds are really only resistant to scratching, that is what the Mohs scale of hardness measures. Diamonds can easily be crushed using a hammer.
