@@claybear1199 thanx, my friend! I'm slowly working on the next couple of parts to this guide. I mix it up between tips and tricks vids and just silly fun. I'm pretty ADHD about it! But I truly appreciate the kind words and follow! It means a lot.
I enjoyed your first Video thats how i found you. I started Abiotic Factor in the beta and play it too, im not that far as you in the story and really like what you are doing!!
@@abteilungsleiterderliebe1337 thank you so much! I am glad you're enjoying the work I'm putting in to these guides. Keep going with your playthrough and I really hope these tips help you along your journey!
Personally, I like choosing Lab Assistant along with the Inconspicuous trait for early game sneak rolling. The extra mobility is pretty damn good; you can reload while sneak rolling and it won't interrupt the reload, as well as a way to dodge attacks.
@@rubickcube7461 I did the sneaking thing a bit on one of my playthroughs, but I'm more the YOLO type with AF. And I just felt some of the points for Lab Assistant are wasted by mid-game. You level all of them up by that point anyway. But, as I said, each person has their preference playstyle, which is great! AF is good at allowing that. Although I wouldn't mind a bit more variability to each build. They're all pretty similar no matter what.
Good Video! Like and Subscribed and looking for the other parts! Also some constructive criticism from my own opinion: Some background music would work well on these videos and also i think there are too many memes for this kind of "tips and tricks guide" Keep up the great work!
I agree from experience that Fear of Violence is nothing but pain, it really could do with reworking to just heavily reduce exp gain (-75%?) in combat stats or something. Luckily half the other players in my group went combat-heavy builds and the fourth is an all rounder, so I'm able to run support in dangerous situations or otherwise be the logistics man, but that was blind luck of who I happened to be playing with, not a plan. I would however say that unless you have a very big server, lead belly is too costly for its worth once you reach the midgame and have the water filter. I also am suffering with hearty appetite in another run and unless the new endgame foods help a lot, it's harsh on inventory slots when exploring. Possibly that's just me hating to toss away soup bowls due to stapler drought though. Buff Brainiac would be my own personal must-have. Encumbrance affects most things you spend time on in the game and so that +15% to what you can stuff in your backpack is really helpful, and only gets stronger as your strength stat rises.
As I stated ever so briefly in the guide, I definitely agree that 8 points is pretty costly for the Lead Belly trait. 5 would be perfect, IMO. That water filter is great near your base, but wandering around for a while away from drinkable water can be rough. Especially through some of the tricky areas. If you could carry a canteen or something, I'd agree it's not worth it. But, especially since I ALWAYS have the Dry Skin trait, being able to slurp any water on the go is just useful for my playstyle. Until you have teleporters, getting back to your base and clean water source can derail a specific task more often than you think. As for the Hearty Appetite, that's one I usually take, because I hurry to get the alien tomato seeds, which is the best food up until you find the eggs! I have a fridge FULL of them from only a few large crops. I'll bring 4-8 of them any time I wander out and there's a new batch waiting for me usually when I get back to base. I don't bother with the soup anymore. Too much material wasted on the bowls and no soup I've found feeds as well as the tomatoes do. I did take the Buff Brainiac the first time I played for the extra carry weight, but I found that being encumbered only levels your strength up FASTER. It's actually a benefit, IMO. Unlike most other games, you actually WANT to be encumbered a lot at the beginning, so it'll level faster. (Don't tell anybody....but that's actually a tip coming up in one of the other parts to this guide... ;) ) As with anything in AF, each person will have preferences to their playstyle. The traits I recommend, I believe, give a good boost to new and seasoned players alike. I'm all about lessening the grind, so the less grind the better. Offsetting the hunger and thirst with gardening and drinking dirty water makes life SOOOOO much nicer. But we certainly agree that Fear of Violence should NEVER be taken. Some of those traits are just painful for no real benefit. We can agree on that! Thanx for watching and adding in your own opinions! Others may like your ideas better than mine.
@@bigkidBAM Yeah, 5 points sounds about right for balance. You can use water bottles as a canteen of sorts, and carrying fizzy drinks is another option. Hearty soup is pretty good for the buff, as are greyeb chowder, A&L mega-stew and the various exp boosting soups, though the ability to stack super tomatoes higher than two servings per slot is definitely not to be sniffed at for day to day. I'm one level off unlocking the advanced food recipes, so can't really comment on those vs the others yet. As far as levelling strength goes, that's a very good point. Personally, I tended to be hauling at least one water cooler at any given time since I was prioritising them early on to supply my companions, which is likely an experience mostly limited to multiplayer. And yeah, they're all good picks, though I would warn someone considering hearty appetite that the increase is much steeper than dry skin or weak bladder. Much more manageable than narcoleptic though as you've explained, short of carrying a military cot everywhere I suppose.
8 point for clean water is fine, multiple base often lead to spending more time finding ressources you have, just build 1 base and set up tp point once you have that.
Good video, thanks
