    Who is Charlie ? Do you have part 2 on this engine yet ? I don't see it on your video list. I'm building a 460/527 stroker with Kaase SR-71 heads as well. My heads are stunning ! 😎

    I don't understand the need for a dual pattern camshaft based on flow number differential between intake and exhaust. If my intake flowed the same as the exhaust at the same gross valve lift, I'd ask for my money back from the head porter.

    • @GearheadRob
      @GearheadRob  Рік тому

      the need for a dual pattern cam comes into the matter when you have a poor performing exhaust port design, such as any pushrod ford cylinder head ever. and since kaase improved intake way more then the exhaust port (intake ports raised, runner design, valve angles etc changed) and the stock exhaust port location is the same, plus with smaller bore engines having to run a smaller exhaust valve. if you wanna make power, and have a solid torque curve as i do. then you run a dual pattern camshaft. 20 degrees more duration on the exhaust side does the trick . when your intake flow is so much greater then the exhaust side, you make up for it with duration being increased on the exhaust side. this is why when you spec a custom cam, they normally always ask for flow numbers. but your comment proves to me and many others, you don't understand how a engine air pump works. and i know I'm legit wasting my time even replying to your uneducated comment

    Did those ports need it really? They’re killer as they are. JK knows his sh-t..

    • @GearheadRob
      @GearheadRob  2 роки тому +1

      Intake side has some gains to be had and the info cane from John to my porter. Plus us small bore guys have to run the small exhaust valve and the exhaust side gets reduced even more so. Plus om a setup like this you need 20 more degrees of exhaust duration for it to make good power etc and so on. Hence why I am covering the subject

  • @fairlanemuscle

    I'm confused: do these use p51 valve angles or something different?

    • @GearheadRob
      @GearheadRob  2 роки тому +2

      P51 ans sr71 use the same.. and rather similar to the scj as well. Diamond has a shelf piston that works with all 3

    • @edge2sword186
      @edge2sword186 2 роки тому

      As I have been told the SR 71"s have relocated the intake valve angle to dump in the middle of the bore and create a much greater hp. gain especially in big ci. engines.

    • @GearheadRob
      @GearheadRob  2 роки тому

      @@edge2sword186 correct to a point. Smaller bore engines are more limited as you have the run the 1.70 exhaust vakve with a steep angle cut. But it's shares vakve angle and pocket with the p51. The sr71 just has a slightly larger valve
