    I'm so glad I found your channel! I think of myself as Intermediate level in French, and, while I do traditional study a lot of the time, sometimes I just want to listen to real French without having to make a huge effort (French series, for me, are nearly incomprehensible). Your manner of speaking and the topic/vocabulary are perfect. I'm shocked at how easily I understand. It's validating but at the same time, I am reinforcing my French comprehension. I wish I could have a mini-you in my pocket!

    Merci beaucoup pour ces vidéos Elsa ! Et merci encore d'avoir ajouté les sous-titres, ils sont vraiment utiles. Alors, à mon avis, vu que les sous-titres prennent énormément de temps d'écrire, tu peux penser à ajouter les sous-titres seulement en français parce qu'ils sont beaucoup plus utiles que ceux en anglais. Si un apprenant tombe sur ta chaîne, ça suffit de lire les sous-titres en français pour mieux comprendre. Même ça peut être mauvais pour les apprenants qui utilisent ceux en anglais, parce que ça leur permet de ne pas vraiment écouter le français que tu parles, ils ne comptent que sur les sous-titres anglais. Hugo n'ajoute que ceux en français et ça marche très bien d'après moi.

    • @pieceoffrench
      @pieceoffrench  3 роки тому +13

      Salut Hanish ! Merci pour ton commentaire. En fait, c'est surtout les sous-titres en français qui me prennent le plus de temps donc ça ne change pas grand chose pour moi de faire les sous titres en anglais. Les sous-titres en anglais ne me prennent quasiment pas de temps car UA-cam propose une traduction automatique qui est très bonne et j'ai juste à relire et corriger les petites erreurs :)

      @@itzhena5301 I found listening to songs you already know but that have been translated and sung in French really helped me. I also just put on a French radio station or podcast in the background if you're doing work. If you can find a question sheet for oral exams, get someone to sit down and go through the entire sheet and attempt to have a conversation (if the person who is asking the questions doesn't understand French just have a mini conversation with yourself). Hope that helps and good luck :))

    I've lived in France, I've attended a French university (Grenoble) and I've taught at one (Bordeaux). And I love French literature, mainly because of Balzac, Flaubert, and Rousseau, but also Rabelais and Du Bellay. But there is a funny thing about French if you listen to it carefully. It is an explaining language. It's almost always in "explaining" mode. It's a curious thing about this language.

    • @christinek6082
      @christinek6082 3 роки тому +2

      I don't mean to be presumptuous in replying and what you say @romainmercier is true in the sense that the sentences do have the same grammatical elements. However, the structure of a French sentence is not the same as an English sentence. I think what @davidblum may mean by "explaining" is that in English you'd say for example 'my sisters car' whereas in French you'd say 'the car of my sister'.

Ce vrai que le Portugais est très similaire au français et je parle l'anglais aussi; mais quand j'essaye de regarder vos vidéos avec sous titres en anglais je ne peux pas me concentrer parce que mon cerveau essaye de comprendre les mots en français. Ce ça normal?
    I can't focus in two languages at the same time, basically. I only listen to what you're saying and try to make sense of it. If I read the subtitles I don't pay attention to your voice and your pronunciation. It's hard. But thank you for your videos, it's an amazing tool to exercise my french.

    ahh reading robin hobb in french?, as i have learn french I have thought I would prefer to read novels in the original language, something that has come up for me as I consider understanding the differences in thought and of mind in language,also to see what the authors mind has created in its original process of storytelling, thought there is benefit obviously for reading translations, clearly needed for learning languages,
    but perhaps a good translation is a good translation and that means its a good story nonetheless
