The Redwoods is one of my favorite places. I love the energy of the trees. I could stay there forever. Del Norte campground is also my favorite of the campgrounds in the south end among the big trees.
You got to see Trillium!! Very special! Never dig it up, it'll never grow where ever you put it! It's in the Lily family, I believe. Don't forget to give us a shout when you hit the Washington coast!!
Definitely not pulling up anything in a National Park or Forest! Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, our trip got a bit altered on our way up and we didn't make it all the way up into Washington, but we hope to be back soon!
They really should have more subscribers. This content is so well done and beautiful as well as a beautiful family. They are far more entertaining then some of the bigger channels and deserve more credit.
I agree, I absolutely adore this family and watching them. Liking their content helps push it upward in UA-cam's search results and recommendations. When you watch a video, make sure you give it a like. It'll help these folks get more exposure.
We are getting ready to do a six week trip through the California national parks and part of our preparation was to go back and re-watch your California trip. I was enjoying the video and glanced over at my husband, who was taking copious notes! Love your channel and learn a tremendous amount from the videos.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!! Meaning..... excited approbation...fantastic, fabulous!!! Dick VanDyke and Julie Andrews sang this in Mary Poppins!!!
I have a huge incense cedar tree in my front yard...my yard is really small so the tree IS MY YARD! lol... Its where all the fairies live in my neck of the neighborhood....I'm pretty much in love with it!
Live life now. Death is an eternity. Family time is memories for future reflection. I travel as an addiction that can't be filled. As a trucker 3.6 million miles 27 yrs plus over many many miles in 30 yrs traveling with my mother. The U.S. is blessed with secret treasures.
Did you see any Rosevelt Elk? They are about as big as a large horse. They were on the Fern Canyon trail when we did it. Had to wait for them to clear the trail for us👍
Ohh wow! What a hike! Thanks so much for taking us along. All I kept saying was, wow, how cool and that's amazing too. lol I mean what else can you say?
We got to check out Olympic National Forest on our way down from Alaska a couple years ago! Amazing! We have lots more that we need to check out in Washington. Thanks so much for watching and for the recommendations!
I really have to congratulate you guys on your parenting skill. It is good to see two teenagers smiling, being excited to go and see places. That's one the reason I enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Thank you for watching and for your comment. We are very proud of the girls and how they are growing and maturing. Even before we traveled, we created a life that kept us together as a family as much as possible and we believe that it has helped the girls have a better relationship with us as well as with each other and the world around them. We are excited to see where they decide to go in life and how they will touch others that they meet along the way!
I so agree with you. When our kids were young we went on many camping trips which included hikes but now that they have grown it's hard to just get them out on the boat for a day. We can't wait till the grand kids are old enough to take on days like these. That's what RVs are for. Thanks FOS crew for another fantastic video!!!

Adding hike to bucket list whenever I get to the Redwoods. I hope soon. Hopefully 2023. Gotta do the Jurassic Park run with stumbling and falling like in a horror movie. I have to give the small little dinosaurs a chance to eat me. 😅
@@FindingOurSomeday yeah, they're pretty gross, but our granddaughters loved them, it became a game to find them, that way they didn't complain about walking lol.
Wonderful view of your hike. When we went to Hawaii, there's a place to ride horses in the mountain vegetation and part of the area, they filmed Jurastic Park. Lots of the props are s there.
It is so green and it was such a wonderful thing after being in the desert all Spring! We are crazy movie people so the movie clips are fun for us to add. Glad you liked them! Thanks for watching!
You are correct, it is hard to capture on film, but you did a great job. Thank you for taking me on the longer version of Fern Canyon and for bringing back wonderful memories.
Utterly awesome! You would never find that environment anywhere else in the world. Unique and brilliant. The full hike that you did is a must! So cool.
Here are some extra words for you: Stupendous; gorgeous; spectacular, amazing; impressive; stunning; beautiful; lovely; inspiring; peaceful; humblling; massive; astounding; grounding; hypnotic; transfixing...(do those help? ;-) ) I am a CA native, and I've always lived within an hour or so of the coast redwoods, and I love them. That's a super hike! I didn't get to take it when I visited RNP...my own kids were too young for that long of a hike at the time. (Nobody told us back then about the drive-to end--boo, hiss!) But I would have loved it...and the water. As a child, I suppose I gave my parents fits, for my "specialty" was accidentally-on-purpose falling into any water that was handy: lake, river, creek, large puddle....LOL
That is a perfect list! Thanks for the adjectives! 🙌 Really hope you are able to get back and see Fern Canyon SOMDAY soon! It was incredible and so nice that you can drive it you want! And you sound like you were my kind of kid! 😂

Started hiking with my kids when they were 6 and 7, at first they would complain “this is boring “ now as young adults it’s their go to thing for comfort. When their dad passed, they hiked. They learned to find comfort in the outdoors. Thank you for sharing your adventures as I physically can no longer hike.
So glad that you were able to make so many memories together hiking before their dad passed away. There is something very healing about being out in nature. Lets us hear and deal with our thoughts and emotions. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
I just want to thank you for sharing your travel adventures with us! I love to travel, but will never be able to see all these beautiful places in real life, so to see so many places with you is a blessing! And I, too, think your channel is by far the best I’ve ever seen!!! I love your realness, and your awe of God’s beautiful creation is refreshing! I love how you appreciate and enjoy the little things along with the big things!! Hope you can do a lot more traveling so that I can enjoy more places!! 😁 I know how it feels to go to a place and you just can’t stop taking pics!! I’m the same way!! We wish we had videos like these to watch with Jess' dad when he was battling ALS. We hope to be able to continue traveling for a long time to come, thanks to viewers like you and our FOS Crew on Patreon. I love the quote as well! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Another absolutely beautiful video loved it ! Loved your comment “take your kid’s hiking and listen to what they say” love seeing a family that spends time together and enjoys one another ❤️
It is so important. Jess made a post specifically about that today on Instagram and Facebook. You have to provide opportunities for your kids to open up and talk and share what is going on inside them!
Being born and raised in Northern Calif., I have vivid memories of family camping trips up the coast and all along Hwy 101. I've been blessed to live so close to the Redwoods for the last 72 years. We even went through the little Town of Scotia to the old saw mills. What I really like is that if a tree falls, they leave it where it went down. Maybe cut a space for the trail, but leave it to return to the Earth.
Such a beautiful place to grow up! The fallen trees throughout the Redwood forest create the coolest elements to see as you hike through and around them! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
Love the videos .it is nice that you are doing these things with the teens if you think they don't appreciate they really do . It is nice to see your closeness.
They definitely appreciate it but I know it will become even more meaningful when they are adults. They are amazing young ladies and Jess and I are so proud of them.
I REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU GUYS WERE HIKING IN THE REDWOODS. I LOVED SEEING IT OVER AND OVER.ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES ON EARTH.GROWING UP IN NY ON LONG ISLAND I WAS EITHER PLAYING IN THE WOODS BEHIND MY HOUSE OR AT THE BEACH PLAYING RAIN, SUNNY OR SNOWING.... IM BUYING MY 5TH WHEEL SOON PLANNING ON BUYING MY PROPERTY THIS SPRING IN N. IDAHO... MY DAUGHTER AND FAMILY WILL ALSO LIVE ON THE PROPERTY WE PLAN ON EXPLORING THE OREGON COAST AS 1 OF THE MANY PLACES I WILL BE 5TH WHEELING AND DISCOVERING OUR COUNTRY... LOVE YOU GUYS
We were in Fern Canyon in 2007 or 8 and it blew our minds it was so breathtakingly beautiful . I love the walk through the redwoods that you guys did wish I could’ve found that hiking trail but I did see Fern Canyon thank you for sharing your experience.
Just love the banter between you guys it's so sweet. Such an awesome vlog, you make it feel like we are there with you. It looked so beautiful and stunning. Thank you FOSD have a great week and take care. 🤗❤🇬🇧
It is always our goal, for you guys to feel like you are experiencing a place along side us, so we love hearing that it is translating that way! Thank you so much for watching!
Truly a magical place and you captured it perfectly. You commented,”we are easily entertained”, I see it as soaking in your environment. You all take the time to really appreciate the beautiful world we get to live in and you share it with us. Also love the comment on hiking in the quiet with the kids and listening to them. Thank you once again for sharing your adventures with us.
I think the more time you are out in nature, the more you are able to take it in and take the time to truly appreciate what is around you. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! 🙏
“That’s a BIG TREE!” 😂We must’ve said that 20 times when we were there. And I love how there’s a Big Tree Trail…and that funny sign that says thing like “another big tree”, “more big trees” etc. Glad you included it. They were very humorous! And We laughed at that Elk warning sign too! We were there in June & once again missed you by a few weeks. Did you really walk 16 miles??? That’s more than a 1/2 marathon! Yeah, we drove to Fern Canyon 🤪
The big tree signs were a riot but the elk warning sign was the best! 😂We did walk 16 miles that day and felt it the next morning! Glad you guys got to see Fern Canyon for yourselves!
I just recently came across your channel and I am in LOVE with your videos. My husband and I are what you would call weekend warriors. We travel with our two small daughters when we can and make videos to remember everything by
So glad you found us! Thank you so much for watching. it is wonderful that you are able to have adventures with you girls. You will love watching those videos for years to come!
Nice I did take the road back there and you do get the truck really dirty going back that way as well did you actually sit on the log that the guy fell over and got eaten by the little dinosaurs ? I did and found some of the remains . lol
Wonderful video and definitely not too much. It's amazing watching and learning from you and how your girls are just doing wonderful growing up this way. I would like to know what extension pole you are using for the Max 360. I have the max grip tripod and it wiggles and makes noise on the audio. Looking for something different.
Wow! Just, wow! Truly incredible! Thanks for sharing all this with us! And to think I grew up not too far from there and don't recall ever going there..One day it will happen, for sure!
That hike was absolutely beautiful! I just can’t get over how BIG those redwoods are. You all look like you were in the movie “honey I shrunk the kids” going by those redwoods.I am so glad you all are making special memories that you will have for a life time.
That is how you feel walking through that forest! Like you are in a movie! Either giant ants or dinosaurs could come out at any moment! 😃 Lots of great memories made on this trip!
Y’all are living the most amazing lifestyle! I’ve been trying to convince everyone with kids that they need to follow y’all! Well everyone we talk to about our new journey into the rvlife!
Another fantastic video!! . Love, love love!! Thank you again for sharing your adventures, and giving us places to dream about visiting. This hike has all my favorite things :)
Love watching your videos. It brings back so many memories of family travels. Ruby beach is beautiful. Marymere falls, lake Cresant. Dungeons Spit, Olympic game farm and Hurricane Ridge are all fun visits if they're on way to friends in Washington. Treasure each other and may you have many abundantly blessed adventures. God love you family.
Thank you so much for the recommendations! We did the coast of Washington on our way down from Alaska a few years ago and Ruby Beach was one of our favorite memories from that trip! We will have to check out some of you other recommendations the next time we are up there. Our plans got a little derailed on this trip, but more on that in upcoming videos! Thanks for watching!
As for no trailers. Its due to fire danger and one route in/out. They don’t want trailers being turned around on the narrow road and getting hung up blocking the only evacuation route for fire and Tsunami evac
We have also visited Fern Canyon area. Took just our van on the road (it was a bit rough) but the kids were too young at the time to do a long hike. Truly is a beautiful coastal area! You get so much great footage! And the sheer joy your family shows gives us great joy to be on your journey vicariously anyway 😁 God Bless your family & your travels! 👍
We love fern Canyon. The road out is rough and so dusty. We took our camper to the Redwoods this summer! Thank you for sparking our memories. Hitting Juniper Springs in late December thanks to your videos.
We had heard it is a little rough in areas depending on the time of year. So glad you guys have gotten to see the Redwoods and Fern Canyon for yourselves! And please tag us in photos of you at Juniper Springs! It is still one of our favorites in Florida!
Greenery.......can't beat that!!! Love all the fern plants growing from the trees, and rocks. People pay good money for those ferns growing there. Now that's a walk worth taking!! Did you rewatch Jurrasic 2?
Beautiful hike! You’ve all conditioned yourselves so well these long hikes must be easier now than when you first started. Jess your point of listening is spot on. You are great parents and your girls are beautiful inside and out.
Not sure we are totally conditioned to doing 16 miles all at once on a regular basis!😂 Thank you for watching and for you kind words! They are incredible girls. We are very proud of both of them!
Loving these episodes, I hiked the forests around Prairie Creek in 1974. Have never seen anything as beautiful! My husband had just gotten out of the Army in July (Viet Nam era) and we spent the summer on the coast all the way to the Washington border. Nothing like it!
Greetings from California! Recently discovered your channel. Love and enjoy your family values and attitudes. Fern canyon! You’re almost in my backyard. So surreal and amazing. Yes, California has an epic diverse geography. Don’t have to go far looking for a change. Hope you enjoy and have a safe rest of your travels. My husband and I are hoping to make this trip again, but I’ve been battling leukemia for over a year. One day at a time.🙃PS They’re called Banana Slugs. They also happen to be UC Santa Cruz’s school mascot!😝
So glad you found us! What a beautiful place to live! SO sorry to hear your have been dealing with such a tough situation over the last year we hope and pray for you to beat it and to have strength to move on with all of your SOMEDAYS! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Very long and memorable hike though those redwoods! I'll bet you all were sore, tired and ready for bed after you ate! Love the scenery! How was the humidity? Thanks for sharing!
It was definitely long! 😂 Somehow a couple extra miles always get added to FOS hikes! Humidity wasn't bad at all and this was the beginning of June. It was the perfect hiking weather. Thanks for being here with us!
Another awesome video! Just breathtakingly beautiful! I so enjoyed it. It brought back memories of Muir Woods and the Sequoia National Park visit. I wish I could have experienced this as well. It is a spiritual experience to get to see these incredibly special places. It was wonderful to hike with your family. You could hear the happiness in your voices. Your channel should have way more subscribers. You really put out quality videos.
Thank you! The Redwoods are insane. Both Redwoods forest and Sequoia forest are incredible but they are different, so we hope you are able to get there to see the Redwoods SOMEDAY! It was a very special time with our family. Thank you for watching and for your kind words! 🙏
Next summer we're planning on driving from Saskatchewan to Seattle and then down the coast to Disneyland. I've been loving these videos because they are giving me more insight to the places I've been researching 🚗
Thank you so much for this amazing hike, and for the tips. Due to physical limitations, I'm not able to hike, so it was amazing to see that trail through your lens and perspective. I also really enjoy and respect how all of you are so appreciative of the amazing nature and the places where you are at. Safe and joyous travels!
Thanks for sharing that incredibly gorgeous hike! I have been to the Coastal Redwoods, but never knew about Fern Canyon. Now I want to go. You guys do an outstanding job on your videos. Love how you pay attention to the tiny special details of nature, something I do too. Happy Travels and Happy Holidays to your lovely family.
Really hope you are able to get back and check out Fern Canyon SOMEDAY! It was amazing! Thank you for watching and following along with us on our journey!

I am glad you took so much video. When we were in Redwoods in early June, we had to paso this hike as my left sciatica was trying to ruin our trip. We did get to do the Lady Bird Johnson trail, despite the pain, and it was very beautiful. After that we headed up to Crater Lake. Going thru the 101 construction at the rock slide was interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes it is hard to know how much to leave in the video and how much I should cut. Glad you were able to see Lady Bird while you were here. Hope the sciatica has let up for you. We still have Crater Lake on the list to do! Thanks so much for watching!
As usual a great video. I haven't been to fern canyon in a number of years. You really brought it out beautiful for all to see. We went the 6 mi dirt road to see it, because of my health I wasn't up to the 13 mi hike from Prairie Creek. We stay in Klamath at Anglers Cove right on the river and drive up and down 101 to see the sights. Thanks for the wonderful reminder! Safe travels.
Thank you so much! We couldn't believe how vibrant the color was in the canyon! We have friends that stayed in Klamath and said it was a great campground! Glad we could take you back! Thanks for watching!
The Redwoods is one of my favorite places. I love the energy of the trees. I could stay there forever. Del Norte campground is also my favorite of the campgrounds in the south end among the big trees.
Patrick's Point, Suemeg Village, James Irvine Trai, and Fern Canyon is one of my happiest places on earth. Fun Fact that red leaf sorrel is edible.
Oh wow….you’re in my backyard so to speak. So glad you all enjoyed your time here.

We were in Fern Canyon in 2007 or 8 and it blew our minds it was so breathtakingly beautiful . I love the walk through the redwoods that you guys did wish I could’ve found that hiking trail but I did see Fern Canyon thank you for sharing your experience.
Glad you guys have gotten to see it for yourselves! It is such a cool place!
Man do I love your videos, they are so good what you show us each week is nothing short of amazing. Thank you so much
Really appreciate you taking the time to say so! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Cory, loved it when you asked your wife to hold your equipment. She gave you that same look my wife gives me!
She is a good sport! She is always helping with equipment!😂
I did and found some of the remains . lol
We have heard the road can be pretty rough out there! We looked for remains but they must have been finished off by now! 😂
Wonderful video and definitely not too much. It's amazing watching and learning from you and how your girls are just doing wonderful growing up this way. I would like to know what extension pole you are using for the Max 360. I have the max grip tripod and it wiggles and makes noise on the audio. Looking for something different.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. This is by far one of my favorites.
Thank YOU for watching! It is one of our favorite adventures this year!
Wow! Just, wow! Truly incredible! Thanks for sharing all this with us! And to think I grew up not too far from there and don't recall ever going there..One day it will happen, for sure!
We hope you are able to get there to see it SOMEDAY soon! Thank you for watching and joining us on our journey!
Wow, we cannot wait. Just a few more months and we will be in the redwoods!!! Fern Canyon is now on the list!!! Thank you FOS!!!
You guys are going to love it! Be sure to post some photos to Instagram or Facebook and tag us so we can see some your trip! 🙌
There are magical animated movies from 1990s "Fern Gully" this reminds
It definitely looked like Fern Gully!
I’m impressed. CA is home, we go to the Redwoods every year and have never heard of fern Canyon.
Hope you guys are able to check it out the next time you are there! It is amazing! Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful video. That trail was truly amazing, thank you for taking us there. Stay safe x
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and joining us on this adventure! 🙏
Y’all are living the most amazing lifestyle! I’ve been trying to convince everyone with kids that they need to follow y’all! Well everyone we talk to about our new journey into the rvlife!
Thank you so much for sharing us with others! We really appreciate it!
Another fantastic video!! . Love, love love!! Thank you again for sharing your adventures, and giving us places to dream about visiting. This hike has all my favorite things :)
It really did have so many amazing elements to it! Thank you for watching and joining us on our adventure through the Redwoods!
I love all y'all! So freakin' chill. Love yalls' whole family vibe.
Thanks so much for watching, Dave!
As for no trailers. Its due to fire danger and one route in/out. They don’t want trailers being turned around on the narrow road and getting hung up blocking the only evacuation route for fire and Tsunami evac
Makes sense!
Wow ! That hike was beautiful. Thanks for taking us along. Safe Travels Amigos
Thank you for joining us! It was an amazing hike and we are really glad we did it! 😃
Love that you guys have been able to see Fern Canyon for yourselves! Thank you for watching and joining us on our journey! 🙏
Thank you for taking us along on your journey! Such majesty and grandeur!
So glad you could join us! The Redwoods are unbelievable!
That was fun! Thank you. Love the big trees.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙌
Greenery.......can't beat that!!! Love all the fern plants growing from the trees, and rocks. People pay good money for those ferns growing there. Now that's a walk worth taking!! Did you rewatch Jurrasic 2?
So much GREEN! It is unreal to see in person. And we did go back that night and watch Jurassic Park 2! 😃
Beautiful photography and video footage 🙌👏👏👏💐 💐
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! 😃
Absolutely beautiful scenery!
The Redwoods are unbelievable!
It's just hard to accept how green the PNW really is. Great video, guys!
It’s hard, but we accept the challenge on our brains 🤯 thank you 👊
Any yellow Banana Slugs on the hike?
Loving these episodes, I hiked the forests around Prairie Creek in 1974. Have never seen anything as beautiful! My husband had just gotten out of the Army in July (Viet Nam era) and we spent the summer on the coast all the way to the Washington border. Nothing like it!
Thank you so much for watching! It sounds like you guys had an incredible adventure. Please thank you husband for his service! 🙏🇺🇸🙏

Excellent Video, and Excellent Hike! So Beautiful! Well Done! Thank You!
Thank you! The Redwoods are unreal! Glad you enjoyed the video!
DEFINITELY adding this to my To-Do list!!
Thank you for sharing this awesome hike. Something I can never see in person so I'm thankful for you guys showing me. Love you all !!
Thank you for watching and joining us on our journey through the Redwoods! So glad we could bring you along with us!😃
Good to see the Grizzly hoodie again.
Lily has to represent Montana! Her best friend lives there! 😃
You guys are so awesome! Thanks for putting in all the time and effort to bring us along with you on your adventures. We love it!
Loved this video. I was there in April and I want to go back constantly.
We will never get tired of seeing big trees! 😃
I forget every once and a while the “time delay”. Atmospheric rivers and winter storms here in BC.
Great vid!
Keep warm up there and thank you for watching!
Next summer we're planning on driving from Saskatchewan to Seattle and then down the coast to Disneyland. I've been loving these videos because they are giving me more insight to the places I've been researching 🚗
So glad the videos have been helpful! You guys are going to have an amazing trip! We wish you the best with your planning! 🙌
@@FindingOurSomeday Fortunatly it was gone by the time we left in August for New England. Physical therapy is a good thing!
@@chuckborghoff8443 Glad to hear!
That was awesome, is there any better words I don't think so, thanks for sharing and as always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
Well we were having a hard time coming up with any! 😂 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to write to us, Nancy!
What an amazing hike! Definitely added to our bucket list! Thanks!!
We highly recommend it! Thanks for watching!
I see all of you take backpacks. What do you all pack on these long hikes fir a day trip?
