As a US citizen and an amateur history buff currently living in Germany, I found this video very fascinating. The frightening thing is that all of this happened just 80 to 90 years ago - not exactly ancient history like the Battle Of Hastings or the Crusades. Thanks very much for having English narration, as mein Deutsch ist nich sehr gut! P.S. History should be a reminder as to why no government or political leader should ever have absolute & unlimited power. Our Founding Fathers were wise beyond their years when they created the USA as a constitutional republic rather than a social democracy.

I once worked with a guy named Heinz in the mid eighties who was once a soldier in the Hitler youth. Altough there are historic reasons that led people to follow the Nazis, one must not speak of it as "acceptable" when the atrocious intentions of Hitler were clear, even before his rise to power.
It was probably the single biggest reason for German Instability at the time, when the Great Depression hit, it hit the whole world hard, but Germany had to deal with the global recession AND the immense debt they owed thanks to the treaty of Versailles. Germany suffered more from the depression than any country at the time and starvation was common, couple that with social and cultural degeneracy of the Weimar era and you had a class of hopelessly poor people suffering who saw the wealthy taunt them with their lifestyle of extravagance and decadence. I don’t blame them one bit for wishing a dictator would swoop in and save them from the nightmare they found themselves in.

It's very crucial to distinguish between constitutional repuplic and social democracy. The latter is merely a form of mass movement where individual rights are subordinated to "mass" opinions, and since there is no such thing as a mass other than the fact that it is a conglomeration of individuals, it follows that there would always be some who would hold sway over others, in all matters of governance - political and economic. Social democracy inevitably leads to fascism and dictatorship. "Will" is not sacrosanct in itself, be it the produce of one mind or of the entire populace. "Will" needs to be validated from the standpoint of its propriety, in its adherence to the nature of Man. Majority opinion, either way, cannot be a validation of "Will", "Intention", or any consequent actions. The world has suffered enough throughout human history, by its adherence to the various forms of social democracy, such associalism, fascism, and their like.
Social democracies, representative democracies, constitutional republics, constitutional monarchies all can lead to fascism and dictatorship if government is not kept in check/dealt with and or if the majority is not respectful and understanding of the minority.

Fascinating. This helps me in my WW2 studies. I have an honest question though, and I appreciate anyone that might be able to answer it for me. Throughout my historical studies, I realize Jews were expelled from many different countries. I believe around 109 countries! This happened over the course of many years. What was Hitlers issue with Jews? And why were they kicked out of so many different countries over the past 2000 years? I’ve done quite a lot of research and I know all about the unfortunate persecution of the Jewish people; but were they persecuted for simply being Jewish? I’m trying to understand and make sense of things. Thanks to anyone who can help answer this question!

Eg: Eternal life, Guns, Large Military, Nationalism, Authoritarian leaders, Boarder protection, power of a billionaire racist, power of police brutality to out groups, feeling empowered by the crowds/rallies and conservatism in general. The underlying motives for these is fear. How does one try to overcome excessive fear. One compensates with power. Name a group of people that desired more compensatory power than the 100% religious German SS. Name something more powerful than eternal life. You can't If you don't have the courage to overcome your fears you will always delude yourself into irrationally and psychopath tendencies Hence the quote “As long as people believe absurdities, they will continue to commit atrocities.” Of course religiosity is always wrapped up in a fake language of love. Just like political and corporate exploitative greed is always wrapped up in the language of freedom. It simply sells better.

The place where the country of Germany exists seems to be at the crossroads of how we understand what "A Nation" is. The east is Eastern Europe, and the west is Western Europe, including the former Soviet Union and other European countries. Eastern Europe seems to have the idea that ``nations are united (or should we call it unified nationalism), loyal to the country, and as the country becomes stronger, the people will eventually become richer.'' On the other hand, in countries called Western Europe, I think the idea is that the happiness of individuals and the richness of their lives will lead to the richness of the country. Perhaps it is the geographical location of the country of Germany that allows this idea to exist. And Germany's debts incurred during World War I were astronomical, causing hyperinflation and eroding the lives of the common people, which potentially led to anger among the people. I think the Nazis were born because people wanted politicians who could represent their grievances. In other words, such a leader ``As the lives of the common people become poorer and are divided into the rich and the poor, and the rich in particular do not contribute to the country, and the number of people who think that all they need to do is increase their own assets and take care of their own families increases, this phenomenon will appear in other countries as well. I think it's possible. Among them, at that time, Jews were a minority of the nation, as shown in the video, and religiously they were considered apostates who were not Christians, and many of them were talented, had the ability to earn money, and were hardworking, and many of them fled their assets to foreign countries. He may have felt that he could not tolerate it. I think the key here was to create a common enemy to strengthen unity. Such a tragedy must never happen again in the future, but history shows that when the lives of people who are not wealthy become poorer and poorer, they look for a strong leader and hope for someone who can oppress the wealthy. Looking back, I think it is a fact that has not changed for over 2000 years.

Altough there are historic reasons that led people to follow the Nazis, one must not speak of it as "acceptable" when the atrocious intentions of Hitler were clear, even before his rise to power.
It was probably the single biggest reason for German Instability at the time, when the Great Depression hit, it hit the whole world hard, but Germany had to deal with the global recession AND the immense debt they owed thanks to the treaty of Versailles. Germany suffered more from the depression than any country at the time and starvation was common, couple that with social and cultural degeneracy of the Weimar era and you had a class of hopelessly poor people suffering who saw the wealthy taunt them with their lifestyle of extravagance and decadence. I don’t blame them one bit for wishing a dictator would swoop in and save them from the nightmare they found themselves in.

It's very crucial to distinguish between constitutional repuplic and social democracy. The latter is merely a form of mass movement where individual rights are subordinated to "mass" opinions, and since there is no such thing as a mass other than the fact that it is a conglomeration of individuals, it follows that there would always be some who would hold sway over others, in all matters of governance - political and economic. Social democracy inevitably leads to fascism and dictatorship.
"Will" is not sacrosanct in itself, be it the produce of one mind or of the entire populace. "Will" needs to be validated from the standpoint of its propriety, in its adherence to the nature of Man. Majority opinion, either way, cannot be a validation of "Will", "Intention", or any consequent actions.
The world has suffered enough throughout human history, by its adherence to the various forms of social democracy, such associalism, fascism, and their like.
We're not sure where you got the idea that social democracy leads to fascism.
Social democracies, representative democracies, constitutional republics, constitutional monarchies all can lead to fascism and dictatorship if government is not kept in check/dealt with and or if the majority is not respectful and understanding of the minority.

Fascinating. This helps me in my WW2 studies. I have an honest question though, and I appreciate anyone that might be able to answer it for me. Throughout my historical studies, I realize Jews were expelled from many different countries. I believe around 109 countries! This happened over the course of many years. What was Hitlers issue with Jews? And why were they kicked out of so many different countries over the past 2000 years? I’ve done quite a lot of research and I know all about the unfortunate persecution of the Jewish people; but were they persecuted for simply being Jewish? I’m trying to understand and make sense of things. Thanks to anyone who can help answer this question!
Hitler made a few snide remarks about Jews in MEIN KAMPF, and originally he just wanted all Jews in Germany to emigrate, but as the years went on, he became increasingly radical and 4/1/39 Reichstag speech, he stated Jews will be exterminated from Europe if they cause another World War--Hitler saw Jews as non-German, he saw them as a race that only benefitted other Jews, he accused the Jews of shirking military duty in WW 1 but that was just another lie

People are upset, people in the 20s in Germany were upset and disillusioned alike. Things will need to change, adjust but changing a liberal, open and democratic west to someone who is going to be less dangerous when in office surely is not the change anyone wants to regret in the times to come. Back then no one thought what transpired to be possible, we now know it is. So demand change that is how a democracy works but also be weary of the change you want.

The place where the country of Germany exists seems to be at the crossroads of how we understand what "A Nation" is.
The east is Eastern Europe, and the west is Western Europe, including the former Soviet Union and other European countries.
