    I know it's work for you but for me it's so calming watching you pack your orders. I'm 68, I used to have three jobs I loved until I broke my back. Now I get to watch people. I lost those jobs because I can't lift or walk very far. Forget standing more than a few minutes at a time. Thank you for sharing your day.

    I just started watching your videos a few weeks ago. I am enjoying them (better yet, I am getting great ideas from them.) Watched your picking video from 2 years ago and your SKU video. Then I found this one. Tying it together---With SKU'ed books, my labels come out with that number on them. So I can print my labels, then as I find the books I put the labels in the book sticking out. In this video, you had a partial title on each label. Wouldn't the SKU work better? Your system is much improved from that picking one 2 years ago. Keep your videos coming. From ItsAGift

    Mel, save tons of time with your packing tape. Get an Excell ET-12270 Blue/Grey Premium Twin-Roll Steel Desk Top Dispenser or similar style depending on what you have in your country. It works just like a small tape dispenser but designed for packing tape. It will save you TONS of time and is more ergonomic for your hands. You can get dispensers than hold one packing roll, a packing roll and standard tape roll, and some are combos that have pencil holders for markers, scissors, pens etc. and it's heavy enough that it stays put on your work table so you can use it with one hand while holding your package in the other! Look into it, it will change your packing forever!

      I am in Australia and hopeless with using those tape guns, so I got a heavy duty desktop tape dispenser similar to what you’re suggesting! So much easier for me. Not easy to find, but we do have them in Australia.

      @@lozzieburger Fantastic! You’re not alone, I too struggled with those other ones. The desk top was a game changer for me and was like where have you been all my life 🤓. And like a lot of things, once you know what to look for you can sometimes find them sourcing. The tape dispenser is also a game changer for those shipping large and unique size boxes when you need longer pieces of tape.

    Good thing about selling one type of item is your shipping is predictable unlike general resellers always dealing with different package sizes!

    • @suewilkinson910
      @suewilkinson910 9 місяців тому +3

      Tell me about it! I sell only one type of product but it comes in many different types, sizes, colours, finishes and weights. It's easy to weigh the single item and add it to the listing but when people buy multiple types and the weight of the product can vary, it's easy to get into trouble with the shipping price.

    Holy crap. Books packaged in ten seconds and I've been hear fumbling dumbling around with cutting out bubble wrap to size, cutting out odd pieces of cardboard and bending it at funny angles, packing tape everywhere, leaving the room to find packaging etc... Defs drawing inspiration from this big time. By watching you do it I now see how I could package literally ten times the amount of items in the same time Im doing now. Which makes me confident in listing more items which I have been holding off on so I don't get overwhelmed. To infinity smd beyond!

    That Kiss Book was a Monster. Great to see your packing bench and shipping process working so well for you. I'm an everything style seller, but watching your videos this past couple weeks has encouraged me to get some boxes of books out of my own back stock and get them listed. Personally I love books, but over the years have sourced fewer and fewer, as the price for many has dropped here in the US, with big sellers like Amazon driving the price of common volumes so low. Back when I cleared estates and delinquent storage units, books needed to be processed as part of the larger process. Now, I look for books with a great return and usually pass the bulk book stacks on to my Son-in-law who is more of a nitch media seller.

  • @jad29376

    Just a thought...I watched you pop a satchel at the end of 2 mailers as they didn't quite close. I was doing this also but then discovered the tough bags, small, medium & Large are all bigger than their padded equivalent. So books that you need a medium padded mailer for may fit a small tough bag/ books you need a large padded mailer may fit a medium. The bags are quite thick so not all will need bubble wrapping either but still works out cheaper if needed. Means less postage costs for you = more profit. 😊

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes the only problem with those is I have to manually choose “My own packaging” and then I have to weigh and measure them. The padded mailers are flat rate by size. So I squeeze as much as I can in!

    • @jad29376
      @jad29376 10 місяців тому

Rally wish we had a flat rate postage solution here in New Zealand so we could prepare the labels ahead of packing, but at the mment we pack everything, figure out the size of the package, and only then prepare/print our labels.

    Your video shows what is possible when you get oranized, The bench high trash bins are working great. I like the idea of puttng another poly bag in the opening to close it when the bag is slightly to small. Your system of everythinb right there is amazing.

    Hi Mel, your processes are improving all the time. Enjoyed the real time of this video.
    Only thing i would change is to get a bench tape dispenser. Will save picking up the hand dispenser many times during packing.
    Also can you put some books sidways into the large satchels so that they take up the width? Then you wont have to tape the surplus down. ❤❤

    Great video and I love how fast you work! All of those orders out in 35 minutes! Of course, this is not showing All the time spent in shipping your orders out each day. There’s the pulling of the items from your inventory, the printing of the labels and as you noted, and marking some type of abbreviation on the reference section of every label to make sure you are placing the correct label on each package. That’s the part I would fear, that somehow the books would be out of order from the labels and I would be shipping out the wrong items to the wrong buyer, but this way is a Brilliant idea if you print all of your labels out at one time! Also, there is the fact you must somehow record the shipping fees that you incurred (vs what ebay charged the buyer) for each order to record your true amount made of the sale of each order. All of this takes time as well. I say this just to give the viewer a true picture of how much time goes in to the entire Shipping Process daily!

    Great video. I have always been afraid of printing my labels in bulk. The one time I tried it they all came out the wrong sizes on from my Dymo I never did it again. Plus I would be afraid of mixing something up. I like how you add the title onto the label.

    Hey Mel! Love this vid. Soooo satisfying and IMPRESSIVE watching you fill orders quickly and efficiently! Question: It looks like you don't include a packing slip which I always do but wondering now if that's truly necessary? Your thoughts? I sell a bit of everything. Love your channel. Lane ✌

      I think most ebay sellers do NOT include a packing slip.
