The design of each of those insects is just beautiful. One suggestion: the mantis's eyeballs have pupils or irises on them; you may want to point them forward.

I've been curious for some time now - do you have a background table with a backlight underneath shining through a milky plexi or is the trick something your camera can do with light shining off of the white surface?

its a selfmade table in the way you describe it, but thats not the only thing to get this result.

@@AustrianBrickFan Awesome, hopefully I won't miss that. I should improve my setup, but I'm not sure how to tackle the turntable in that, and I would love to have the same effect as yours. But the messy background should come first.

Its all about lighting and camera setup. You must overlight the background with additional lights that doesn't effect the object on the turntable too much. Then with the right angle let the turntable to be invisible
