Thank you immensely for posting this. It brought a sense of reflection and calm to me. I usually take a yearly pilgrimage to a Benedictine monastery in Alabama. I have not done so since the covid pandemic began. Many blessings to you.
After Morning Prayer, that break that you mentioned is supposed to be used for Lectio Divina. You seem to be following in the steps of the late Fr. Daniel Kirk, OSB, my former Junior Master and my mentor. He is dearly missed.

An interesting and refreshing look behind the scenes of a vocational journey. For most of my adult life, I've been wondering about the possibility of becoming a friar. Each time that I get close, I get cold feet, or something happens that deflects my seeking.
I recommend the book "A Living Sacrifice: Guidance for Men Discerning Religious Life". I'm currently reading it, and it talks about getting cold feet and how you should respond. I'm praying for you in discerning your vocation.
@@thomaslonowski8007 Thank you very much. I will certainly check out that book. Currently, I am with the Secular Carmelites, but even though I'm well over the age limit, I haven't fully given up on the possibility of becoming a friar.
I’ve contacted many abbys over the past few months and none of them have messaged me back yet I’m trying to become a monk but it’s kind of hard to get started
The Rule of St Benedict Ch 42: 'Monks should be silent at all tines but especially at night. This should always be the rule, whether it is a fast day or not.'
If anyone has an information on the chant at 5:25 or any similar, I would very much appreciate it. Similar in the sense of a "call and response" style type chant.
@@aprilparedes4002 No. You can do small retreats and stay at the guesthouse. You would only join the monks for office and mass, not for meals or anything else inside the abbey.

God bless Fr. Sam Springuel. He is a gift.
'A monk should diligently cultivate silence at all times.' From the Rule of St Benedict.
I’m a graduate of St. A’s in Manchester, NH. Class of 1977. Love spending time in the Abbey Church.
Good luck to you, Brother Samuel. I hope your vocation and education have both progressed well. I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you for making this and sharing!
Thank you for sharing insight into your life in the monastery. God bless!
Thank you brother.
thank you Brother Samuel
Did a retreat at a Benedictine convent back in 2017, very inspiring!
Let's go Fr. Samuel!

Thank you for the terrific video. I'm confused, however, as to why St Anselm's would not accept such a qualified applicant?

Are you friends with the Monks at Saint Gregory's Abbey in Three Rivers, Michigan ?

They are chanting the Marian Litany.
Entering monastic life, is there any age limit?
sound system is really bad
is this a Roman Catholic monastery?
yes
Yes, but there are Western Rite Eastern Orthodox Benedictine Communities.
Can you tell me what song is playing in the background, please?
We have the same name
Nice
If someone prays differently to that... can they not join a monastery?
I wonder what this chap is doing now. Is he still a monk?
Why did a man have on a white tunic and black scapular? Was he a visitor?
That sure looks like a Trappist/Cistercian habit, so I assume a visitor.
Can ordinary man or husband join them for months or a year

It’s baffling that anyone would reject his application with his calling, must have been the Holy Spirit.
To each his own but that's a lot of praying for me, which basically is talking to yourself.

5:17 That's definitely idol worship.
Fortunately, it isnt. They dont beleive the statue is God or a god, and they arent worshipping it.
