I am fully conviced that Jingles is in fact three cats in a trenchcoat. He is so easily distracted by anything in the game, just like your average housecat. Goal? Ball! Ooh shiny, hey that's a plant, squirrel!
Stray was a dystopian game and a commentary on robots replacing humans. This game is about a small cat getting home while wearing a collection of silly hats.
ok i'll be "the weeb" The Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes viverrinus), also known by its Japanese name tanuki (Japanese: 狸, たぬき), is a species of canid endemic to Japan. It is one of two species in the genus Nyctereutes, alongside the common raccoon dog (N. procyonoides), of which it was traditionally thought to be a subspecies (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus). from wikipedia
to be fair, Tanuki and Raccoons looks close.. i mean even in Super Mario Bros 3 they renamed the Tanuki Suit to Raccoon-suit (at least in the German Booklet, but i think they translated it from English) because the look similar and non-Japanes People don't know what a Tanuki was (and Internet and Wikipedia was not a thing a that time... shit i'm old -.-)
12:35 looking for 'Shinys'....looks directly at a 'Shiny' in the mid-distance....turns away...."Now, how do l get past the dog?". I see that surgery has not improved Jingles ability to see what's literally in front of him. Never change, Rear Admiral!
Worse than that, if you really upset a crow it will remember, and it will tell every other crow in the area, and they will tell their chicks. As one unfortunate ornithologist found out when he caught a bunch of them to put those marker rings on their legs. They didn't appreciate that and he was then attacked by every crow in that area for over a decade. I'm always nice and courteous to crows because they remember that too.
Crows and ravens are wickedly smart creatures. When I was doing work for Lowlander, I began casually feeding the crows outside my company HQ building before I went in for the day. I thought nothing of casually giving each crow a peanut from the bag I keep in the car, but I would normally wait until they stopped next to the walk and approached me without fussing before they got their treat. That was, until the day I saw a number of them cawing and winging at each other. At first I thought they were fighting over who would get peanuts first. Instead, it ended up being a bunch of bigger crows making the smaller ones form an orderly queue along the path from the parking lot to the office because they had learned I appreciated it more when they were orderly. Frighteningly clever birds.
The local flock has figured out how to ferment the crab-apples from the decorative trees that we have at work. Yes. I get drunken crows at work every year. I am Not Joking.
@@lynchkid003 Look on the bright side, it's better than drunken elephants. They absolutely love marula fruit, will put it away at a rate of knots... and the stuff has a tendency to ferment on the branch, thus leading to, well... tipsy elephants. When I was in Tokyo a few months back, I noticed each district had their own manhole cover pictures on them, with a few being coloured the way you found that one.
That's not only in Tokyo. During my two visits to Japan I found them in several areas of the country. In Fujinomiya, for example, since they are close to Mount Fuji, a lot of them featured this famous volcano.
A little black terror! Mine has yellow eyes, but...I might have to play it just because it's a void. As my little black terror lays on the desk and stares at me like I'm doing something wrong watching a game about a cat. Judgemental little shit.
You must not remember the time several yeara ago where he actually DID play it. Pretty sure it was a WoT video, he was either so mad or pissed off that he ended the video with the game on his scren.
@@wargamingsupernoob nope it was Cold Waters i remember the ragequit from Jingles when he had to hit a Harbor with 12 Tomahawk-cruisemissiles, he hit it with more (to be on the save side) but the Mission was buggy and says "nope you failed because you where supposed to hit the Harbor 12 times and you did it 14 times" or something like that^^
The developers have this one absolutely nailed. They obviously know cats very well with the boxes and the furnishings rearrangement and the shiny things,,, They have got the feel of a Japanese city neighbourhood done pretty well too.
Love all of your content! All of it, but especially non wow/wot stuff. Just mentioning this as I know it gets less views but to me it’s jingles at his best! So glad the scare has panned out. Don’t stop being the best ‘crap’ gamer I know! ❤
I can see why Jingles loves games where he plays a cat. He doesn't need to justify why he does anything. Literally "I'm a cat!" is all the explanation he needs
I had this game on my wishlist from the second I first learned about it. It is one of the only games I've done 100% achievements for. Excited to see you play it!
my daughter has an outdoor, country cat. it will deign to lower itself to come inside sometimes to be with her, however, it won't get in boxes. although it does like to hide under furniture. go figure. it also likes to pounce on birds (and eat them) and other various wildlife. sometimes it brings her "gifts" of those pounced-upon animals carcasses. so thoughtful.
Who needs yet another Jingles' video of Flambass taking his ship up the channel on the Two Brothers map when we can have Jingles playing a cat themed game?
20:54 -- you can use your arrow keys on the keyboard to switch between the conversation choices. And no, they don't really matter, you just get some different response text, but the overall conversation direction will be the same. And I see others have already answered what kind of animal this is :D This is as great of a video as I've expected it to be!
Just sitting here watching a grown man... okay a man playing as a cat whilst putting a fresh edge on my kitchen choppers. I've done all the other chores so now it's ice cold cider, careful handling then hangover n the morning, hopefully without much loss of claret or fingers, kind of need both. Have a great weekend everyone
Oh cool it's finally out. I played the demo a while ago and loved it. I think it is scroll wheel to change choices when talking to other animals but you're a youtuber so checking the keybinds before playing a game is unheard of so i don't blame you. ;)
Aw come on Jingles one more feather :-)! Love it :-)! Jingles being a cat in a former life would also explain why he thinks he can always pull off a landing in unfeasable conditions :-)! Plus I haven't googled it but I'm guessing that you select the up and down conversation options by.... using the up and down arrow keys🙂!
That's a tanuki or Racoon Dog, they are actually kind of getting endangered in Japan due to imported racoons crowding them out of their territory. How did the racoons get to Japan you may ask? due to a pet craze following a super popular animé back in the day.
OMG my daughter is going to lose her shit when she sees this! More importantly, I get to share a Jingles video with my 13-year-old! XD For some reason, she's just not all that into vehicles from the World Wars.
So my takeaway is this is Stray's more light-hearted cousin. Playing a black cat doing important cat business. I could immediately see this being great on the Deck, checked it works and then bought it, because that description is an easy sell to me. And it's thanks to our Gnome Overlord that I knew about the game.
20:25 I'm sure there are hundreds of comments saying what that critter is, but that is a _tanuki,_ or in English a "raccoon dog". It's not a raccoon (I've heard "trash panda" as one of its nicknames) which in Japanese is _arai-guma,_ or "washing bear". Tanuki are more closely related to canines, so they aren't very good at climbing, unlike raccoons which are more related to bears. Because of their similar faces, they are easily confused with one another and the lesser red panda, but the main difference is in the tail: Raccoons have rings on their tails, tanuki do not.
You talking about fishies has gotten me to think about a game you definitely MUST check out... Play Outter Wilds for us Jingles! I'm sure you'll love it as much as I and everybody does!
A Tanuki is a type of wild dog native to Japan that resembles a racoon, hence why they're called "Racoon dogs" They're also invasive to Northern Finland, Karelia and Russia
Tanuki are mischievous Yokai , they've got got these giant balls that they can make look like just about anything , and they do it to fuck with people lol .... though they are also quite helpful if you happen to rescue one by chance .. like the one you found playing the " I'm stuck , help me Step Bro " bit for you Jingles lol
If you want to see a fun movie by Studio Ghibli about Tanuki, I can only heartily recommend watching "Pom Poko". It is a mostly fun and light-hearted movie, with a somewhat serious theme in the back.
I'd forgotten the Tex Avery/Chuck Jones inspired beginning, it had all the classic Looney Tunes and Chuck Jones era Tom & Jerry visual gags. I'm not sure why this American indie studio went with a setting in metropolitan Japan, but the painted manhole covers might have something to do with it.

Jingles is actually a cat playing a game where it pretends to be a human.
“3 cats in a trench coat”!!! Epic!!!
In fact it's Two cats and a squirrel.
Lmao +1
I think you need more than three cats to fill up a Jingles.
Stray was a dystopian game and a commentary on robots replacing humans.
This game is about a small cat getting home while wearing a collection of silly hats.
Both legit game ideas.
Exactly. But which is the best silly hat? It's a tough choice 😊
