IngoGarza I knew it!!! I'm glad someone else noticed it was Tatsuro Yamashita
i love this album so much, recently it got taken off of spotify now i’m back here so i can listen to it🥲
same 😭
SAME 😭 I hope it comes back
@@pega_neko Same here
Same. It's a darn shame.
Apparently it has to do with copyright. Some movie called a million miles away came outta nowhere. I hope it gets resolved soon cause spotify is just convenient
Got recommended this vid. Listened for about 5 minutes. Ordered cassette tape of this album before video even finished. It was $34 including shipping. I love my financial decisions at 2:30 am.
Next you have to buy a Star-Lord leather jacket and a Sony Walkman. And dance to this album in a rain of stardust at some other 2.30 am.
The Grey Wanderer very sound advice. I'm writing it down. 😉
Stanley Swerbal I would not have been mad if it was CD or Vinyl but cassette? Come on man
@@jestertheslacker I still have mine old Walkman received from my uncle. It sounds OK I guess.
You made the right choice :D
This is the stuff they play inside stationery stores in Japan. Ugh the nostalgiaaa

thank you! why isnt this top comment?
thanks! credit should be given to original artists in the description
Thank you so much man!!
@@japanjazzfusion Yeah as soon as I heard the casiopea sample I looked for this comment
@@supralevamentum223 because people cant handle the entire genre of future funk is six second uncredit loops from city pop songs with basic ass DAW effects layered on top.
The very first Macross album I blessed my ears with almost four years ago now..Always will be a classic.
I wanted to stop by and tell you all that I heard this playing in a bar in Philadelphia last week, Horsey specifically, which was a nice surprise to hear
The Sarah Bonito collab was awesome!
i wasnt expecting that
as soon as i see the cover art, i know im at the right place
My sentiments exactly 💯 Proud Anime Nerd forever 🤓 💙
I'm an old guy now. But I was there when house and techno blew up many years ago. I'm glad to see and hear that EDM is alive and well. Thanks kids for this awesome music.... I hope you all don't mind an old man listening in.....
I recommend checking out Flamingosis, Vantage, Mikazuki Bigwave and Yung Bae too; you might like their works if you liked this one!
@@TheRedTessy SUPER!!! I will.... Thanks!!!
we might get older, but our souls remain young ;)
@@sam.246 Well said my friend.
we love you please stay we love you!!!!
Nice to hear some future funk that isn't just the same sample looped over and over. Really enjoyed this.
First track is sampled from Tatsuri Yamashita's 'Sparkle' from the 1982 album 'For you'
And the second one is sampled from T-Square's song called Circuit Wanderer!
@Eternal Rambler Well, it is future funk, like some reminder of this music that exists and they do some improvements in the songs
@Eternal Rambler If you really look, all these kinds of songs are "sampled"
@Eternal Rambler It's a very common practice in the music industry. How you haven't heard of it is baffling.
@Eternal Rambler sampling is natural in the music industry i think its fucking dope, it could lead to people discovering the actual song that was originally sampled if that makes any sense
for me this is one of the most iconic albums of all times like i remember listening to this when i was starting secondary school and now im training ot become a PT over almost 7 years later
same dogg
PT like personal trainer?
8 years.
I'M NEW TO MACROSS 82-99 AND THEIR MUSIC,BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW,THEY GOT A NEW FAN TO DEAL WITH NOW.GLAD I ENDED UP HERE FOR REAL.
Welcome to Future Funk.
Basically, imagine happy Cyberpunk, and that's the vibe of this album.
I can just imagine riding in a sick car through Neo-Tokyo whilst jamming to this
Cassette futurism works too
Or a regular Cyberpunk on a good day
Just saw yung bae, macross 82-99, st.pepsi,, and night tempo all were amazing got to take a photo with only two tho love them and their work
This entire comment section is one big expression of delight and surprise, and I feel it!
In case you are (or were) looking for the seventh track of this album (which is 82_99 F_M (placing the period renders it as a hyperlink)): it consisted of 4 sampled songs which go as follows (look those up if you want):
First sampled song: Marlene - ESP
Second sampled song: Kaoru Akimoto (秋元 薫) - Dress Down
Third sampled song: LTD - Don't Stop Loving Me
Fourth sampled song: The New Jersey Connection - Love Don't Come Easy
Amazing
thx
04:47 this track sounds like it's taken directly from Daft Punk Essential Mix and this is beautiful!
Crazy to think this is almost a decade old.....man, time sure flies.....
me at 4:12 : huh that sounds just like sarah bonito
*checks tracklist*
"(feat. Sarah Bonito)"
me: i am genius
lmao same
Saaame
I love how universal this experience is lol
I liked this album so much I bought a copy. This is a perfect mix for my commute or while hustling through work tickets at my desk. ALAC sound quality is excellent. 10/10!
Now I can safely say that this album tried to tell a love story.
And for better or worse, I completely understand it now.
It just feels different when you listen to "Thank You", while returning from an airport, and with the very vivid memory of how someone you care about very much left on a plane that you saw taking off. (She lives in another city.)
Reminds me of going on a vacation and getting stuck some where then having more fun then expected.
Loving the Tatsuro Yamashita 'Sparkle' samples in 'Now and Forever' it gives a very Daft Punk vibe to it.
Holyshit I just realized realised the track at 17:37 samples LA Noirs Main Theme I swear every time I listen I gain a deeper appreciation for this album
Hey man Please, 18:02 What is the name of the song that this woman is singing?
.
.
Please.
i think vibes as a concept were brought to their peak on this album. a million miles away really gets you feeling good when you need a pick me up. just a masterfully crafted group of songs that will never fail to get you to get up and dance
I remember hearing this years ago. Still good to listen to. Macross 82-99 is a very talented music producer.
She's a million miles away now..
Time to start again.
Love the audio tape format picture.
The bass in this is amazing
Love the opening bit from the Lost in Translation soundtrack.
Love the soundtrack in general.
Tatsuro Yamashita's city pop (80's J-pop) live performances are amazing.
"Love Space-Windy Lady Live 1978".
"SILENT SCREAMER & BOMBER" (Special Medley).
"Live Osaka".
"Joy Live".
And so on.
The way the album opens!! 🤯🤯🤯
I was listening toTatsuro Yamashita then youtube brought me here. Amazing stuff.
Perhaps my favorite album of the entire Macross 82-99 discography
I can't deal just finding all my favorite hits mixed this way it's powerful and hits hard. Seriously awe inspiring
If you enjoy the song Horsey then you should certainly check out Sarah Benito's band Kero Kero Benito!
Bonito*
That's her at 2:15
I suggest you try " wanderer in circuit " by t-square
haha thanks mate, just what i wanted
HOW MANY SHRIMPS DO YOU HAVE TO EAT
I feel so enlightened after running through this whole album, my heart is light AAAAA
I just bought the new edition from bandcamp. I can’t wait!
Is this really considered Vaporwave??? It's just soooo..... goood! It's super interesting and surprisingly well rounded out. So much better than like all the other vaporwave I've heard.
I guess it doesn't matter. Good music is good music. So glad this exists. Got me hooked immediately.
No, it's not Vaporwave, it's Future Funk. Unlike Vaporwave this is strictly sampling tracks into Funky songs :)
@@ted4683 future funk is a subgenre of vaporwave, so yes, its vaporwave
@@LucasMartins-zv3oh subgenre of vaporwave with french house characteristics
@@dayoki8091 It could be kind of: "Vaporwave, but less weird, nostalgic and happier."
Don't know why this was on my recommended list, but Thank You. Macross Fan here, especially of this era.
tatsu sample on the first track and im already in love
The memories tied to Macross and In Love With A Ghost are some of my fondest
This is so good, I didn't even realize this wasn't from the 80s.
I ended up buying the vinyl and cd off ebay for resale for this album because I'm not sure if it will come back, sucks because I found this album thanks to tik tok but some money hungry cooperation probably also saw 82.99 FM trending and copyright struck them.
I wish more of this was on spotify so my listens could actually help the artists.
You could just purchase something from his bandcamp
This album is on spotify now.
Lol you say that like Spotify pays their artists
such a great album cover
Even in 2017 there are still fantastic albums. Love these songs.
The description says this was RELEASED in 2017.
they will be fantastic even in 3017
YoSeriousLee It's a re-release. The original release was 2014.
2017 was 4 years ago wait what 😳
@@noonespecial3131 time flies, gotta appreciate every moment bro
Thank You
ありがとう❤️
that fucking out of phase guitar tone is soo godamn classic in this genre I love it omfg
Nice to discover this album after having not listened to it in forever
happy to have gotten the second press of this on cassette a while back. i have it on a shelf and it looks clean af 🥶. legendary album for future funk and just in general being a good album. also holds a special place in my heart as one of the first albums i listened to in future funk when it started to grow in 2015 more .
Thank You. One of my favorite albums and it always gets taken down.
My clear vinyl pressing of this album is one of my prized possessions lmao
Wish this didn’t get taken off spotify
I wonder if Tatsuro Yamashita loves that his song "Sparkle" was sampled in the introduction song to this amazing album.
He hates it like how I hate these re-edits... every track is sampled, and just fucked over. If everyone knows all the orginals... he probably didnt get rights to it either.
tatsuro always knows how to get down and dirty opening an album
"if an album has both a tatsuro yamashita sample and a sarah bonito feature, then it's the best album ever made."
-god
Its a pretty solid album not gonna lie. Man I love youtube
+ casiopea sample 😵
Love Sarah Bonito in this
Muy Buen Disco!!! Me hace acordar mucho a los Años 90, sobretodo a los Animes de esa época.
one of my favorites for working/studying
a million miles away album came out 2014 fantastic
You got the most cliche name for a black guy lol.
hey, lay off Tyrone, man.
Super Funky, thanks UA-cam recomendations
this is real feel good music, i love it! vaporwave and citypop are my two of my favourite genres
This is just…amazing! I loved every second of it!
The city sounds at the very beginning are sampled from the soundtrack of 'Lost in Translation'.
Truly beautiful
This is actually really good
Masterful use of the Tatsuro yamashita sample
これまじでいい
UA-cam recommended me this and it did a great job.
Night In Tokyo Pt. II oh! my Gosh! thanks god thanks! forever!!
Nu disco/ Nu jazz compilation, and it's actually good. I wish Daft Punk still made music like this
Oh boy
This was actually one of my favoure albums and it got taken down. I am geniuenyl upset by this now that ive reminded myself of it again. I guess ill listen again
Can i just say this graphic art is pretty cool
One of the best

CASIOPEA PRESENTE! GENIAL!
that album art is so aesthetic it's tearing me apart lisa
I'm sad in class atm. This comment combined with the music at least made me chuckle. Have my like stranger
Awesome!
He sampled sparkle by Tatsuro Yamashita!!! Iove that song!!!
It was very pleasant.
That opening track, pure infectious beat, it ends and you're just gasping for more, and then you get into the rest of the album, a fuckin classic. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS?
..i'm slowly but surely starting to get interested to this kind of music..
Nigga this music, nigga, nigga you dont even know
I like that the cover is like a track box cover
Minmay's music is so good.

Casiopea out of nowhere!
im glad youtube recommendation leads me here
"The Theme from Big Wave ", "Jody", "Magic Ways", "Your Eyes",
and "I Love You" from "Big Wave" soundtrack 1984 . " Funky Flushin' ", " Ride On Time ", " High air Pressure Girl" (高気圧ガール koukiatsu girl), " Loveland Island ", and" Christmas Eve" (クリスマス・イブ from "Melodies" 1983.) From "OPUS ~ ALL TIME BEST 1975-2012 ~ ".
I recommend the 80's songs of Yamashita Tatsuro ( 山下達郎 ) , the 80's J-pop(city-pop), especially "Ride On Time" 1980 or "For You" 1982 with SUZUKI EIZIN ( 鈴木英人). or "Melodies" 1983 or "Big Wave" sound track 1984 or "CAME ALONG 1・2・3 " compilation .
underrated comment :(
Thanks!
God bless you for this comment
1964 really?
I'd recommand the whole Timely album from Anri (Kawashima Eiko), pure delight to listen to.
haha so it's back! managed to snag this album whole, way back when... Good Show!
I recognised Sarah's voice when this came on autoplay. I need to diversify my taste 0-0
