Judging by Blizzard latest announcement. The reaper will forever stay that way. Because of him. And that quite an achievement. Literally change the face of history. Tho a fraction of SCII gaming history.
I'll always remember tuning into his stream with my buddies in 2016 and seeing him win over and over again, get rank 1 on the ladder, and then reset his account so he could climb to the top again. He made it seem so effortless, definitely a King of SC2 and my favorite player of all time.
i remember one of the moments when he dropped a protoss main and microed 2 marines and a medivac vs a colossus that just spawned and killing it - the stuff he did with his units was just ridiculous
@Olek Ś. For his career, yeah sure But for him personally the other one was more important. He stood against the double world champion, with a team behind his back. In short he fought against the one who had it all. In my opinion that win was for Byun really important, because thanks to that he was able to make it at blizzcon. He was mentally prepared for the biggest tournament.
Chrioni Sta Ana can you explain to me why you feel like you have to comment these kind of things? I see you replying this kind of messages on so much comments under this video.
@@commentsaretrue4570 I can explain - there's an anti-narcissism cult on UA-cam for almost a decade now and they get buzzed seeing anything remotely self-gratifying.
Haha i know im a year late, but if you look anywhere, I feel like sc2 players barely shown emotion after winning - serral even barely smirking. ByuN just feels so much more human - even if his micro is out of this world
There was a time when I was a low GM player spamming games. One day I was spamming ladder inbetween games of some US tourney (I forget if it was MLG or what). I played a low masters ranked player who completely annihilated me. In the next featured game ByuN was up and I recognized his player ID as the one I had just played on an NA server. He left me bewildered off cam as a warmup player for one of his tourneys.
Just finished watching. I remember developing purpleish calluses because I had been playing starcraft too much. Honestly wish I had kept playing if just for the chance to play these caliber people again if only by accident
That was beautiful. Back in the good ol days when auditoriums were full of people. Wrist problems mainly being a Terran Trait speaks volumes of the micro skill needed to play that race.
ByuN is such an awesome player and has such personality with how he acts and how he plays. I remember first being amazed by ByuN's plays but then being more amazed at how personable he is. He dedicates so much of himself to the game and you can see it when he wins and when he loses. Seeing ByuN achieving success against all odds during his time is such a joy as well as seeing him still enjoying the game years later. As a fan, I'd like ByuN to know that he has given me a lot of happiness and aspires me to work hard towards my goals. He will forever be my favorite sc2 player and I wish to see him becoming evermore successful in his progaming career.
This (awesome video) is so badly timed, ByuN just had the most heroic ASUS ROG tournament, from being the last qualified for it, to win his group against Reynor, Stats and Neeb, to then wins against Serral, Solar and Maru, playing until 8 AM!!!!
2:48 this part is my favorite part in my favorite vid of this channel: "Best of StarCraft II - 2016". Still waiting for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020! Not too late!
ByuN vs dark is literally a legendary final series in my eyes. Probably one of the best showmatches I've seen. His control was just unrivalled vs the also exceptional dark. I also remember knowing that reapers were busted when ByuNs group of reapers were able to punish a group of roaches moving across the map, although i don't remember the series.
Not even a mention of his insane 12+ hours streams where he just queued and played non stop on the ladder? These were one of the most insane streams I have watched.
I just want to throw this out there. But for me. Byun is the most iconic starcraft 2 player of all time. I still find him really strong from all of his matches. Up to this day!
those reaper games were some of the most amazing showcases of skill I have ever seen in starcraft and I don't know if they could ever be beaten. Byun made reapers overpowered because Byun was overpowered in terms of his godlike control of them, nobody could beat him so blizzard had to step in and nerf terran into the ground to stop byun, and they had to nerf terran two or three times for it to actually work.
I honestly hope byun can figure a way to play different styles in terms of pace. Sure he favours MMM because its mobility but that hardcore intense early game haress isnt good for his wrist, already after returning from national service his wrist injuries is back. Hope he can play at a slower pace like his idol innovation or long games like TY or Maru. We have yet to see him try Mech builds.
I live this series. Maybe next is Gumiho as the god of mech or Has as the god of cheese. I remember that insane shot of the guy in disbelieve about Has' mass Oracle's and how Has got in the mind of a terran player and he built like 3 bunkers and was too scared to take a expo.
The first time i was exposed to starcrsft was i was at a hospital bored getting treatment so i went to the computer and the previous patient left the byun vs dark games mentioned in this video on the computer and ever since then I've loved watching and playing starcrsft
I'm new to watching pro SC2 players, but this ByuN is already a huge favorite just from this video. You've got the underdog story of his GSL win and Blizzcon win (yeah, I would call that underdog considering who he was against), beautiful plays, and I like his passion for the game.
If you are new to it I ByuN really is one of the most interesting Players to watch. He's a lot more entertaining to watch then for example Serral, who is ridicoulus in his own Right, but just not as fun to watch. Especially when it Comes to Terran, the only one I personally find as interesting to watch is Clem Right now, even tho I still love seeing Innovation or Maru Play, but it's just not the same.
So... This is the 10th Kings of SC2 video. Is it really finished? Will there really be no more? Is it really over? Maybe there will be a new series if we ask nicely enough? Seriously though, this is such a good series. Even though I wasn't in the scene when a lot of the featured players were around, I still managed to appreciate their legacy through these videos.
I looked it up. A friend gave him the puppy for reaching a GSL code S semifinal. He took it to some games after, so I guess it sort of became his mascot
To me personally Byun is the goat of SC2. I have seen him pull the craziest shit off in his streams. His macro is so god damn good that it makes no sense. He can lose almost all his workers and still win. And that with the race whose lategame is the weakest.
I definetely love this playlist and the videos you made are very cool, an idea I have and I know it will be very controversial would be a video about Life (Lee seung hyun), like as a bonus, or hidden track of the list. This guy was dominant, he had a specific style and won many tournament for a long period. Call him the "fallen king" if necessary or something and of course it wouldn't be with hidden controversies, we all know he lost purposedly in match fixing but still, I can't think about StarCraft 2 without including this guy, he's a part of the history of this game (good or bad). If you see this message, would you consider it ? it would be great imho Cheers

I love Byun. The first build I ever learned was 3 rax reaper. Did it in every matchup all the way to plat 1. This man is truly a king of starcraft.
The casting at 8:58 is awesome "he actually no scoped the queen while it was airborne. Reapers can't shoot air units it doesn't make sense"
It brings back so many great memories, I don't think we will ever witness anything like that again
