Disapointed as thought this is about how to refurbish a bee hotel ie overhaul an existing one rather than the two Citizen Science projects that are being promoted by the Buzz Club that will give data to optimizer been hotels.
Hi Chris! Apologies for the confusion from the title. That's an interesting idea - how to overhaul an existing bee hotel, particularly if e.g. you've been bought one as a gift - with the best of intentions - that is actually a bit rubbish. How to identify the problems with it, how to rectify or minimize, and so on. I can't remember where of the top of my head but I've definitely seen something about that for some commercial designs; such as: replacing piles of pine cones with bamboo tubes, adding mesh to deter birds, adding depth to hotels that are a bit short. Could be a really useful resource for the website - I will have more of a think about this! -Linda
