    "Liberace was secretly diagnosed HIV positive in August 1985 by his private physician in Las Vegas, 18 months before his death. Cary James Wyman, his lover of seven years, was also infected and died in 1997. Another lover, named Chris Adler, came forward after Liberace's death and claimed that Liberace infected him with HIV; Adler died in 1990 at age 30." he certainly did not leave anyone out.

  • @NxDoyle

    Literally hundreds of thousands of middle-aged and old ladies were utterly entranced by Liberace's florid, showy piano playing and his über-glamorous lifestyle. The merest hint that he might have been homosexual was dismissed out of hand as scurrilous, defamatory rumor. They wouldn't dream that he was gay. But we look at him from this remove and see the most camp gay man in history.
    I have a distinct memory my father seeing him on TV and making a disgusted "ugh" noise. I don't think it was a homophobic thing, more that he was repulsed by how phoney Liberace was. "I wish my brother George was here."

    • @flutebasket4294

    People didn't even know Freddie Mercury was gay, it must've just been a different time, but I figure Liberace was so glitzy, gaudy, and an old-school showman that people figured that was the explanation for his flamboyancy. Ironically, Liberace won a lawsuit where a magazine accused him of being gay lol.

    • @joebarracuda6038
      @joebarracuda6038 4 роки тому +1

      People did suspect him to be gay, or else they wouldn't have accused him. After winning his lawssuits, i guess they were afraid to be sued.

      @@joebarracuda6038 I'm sure that's actually true to people in the industry but largely not to the public at large. The giant run-on sentence the Daily Mail used without saying he's gay, but clearly was, is so hilarious considering it was 1959.
      "...the summit of sex - the pinnacle of masculine, feminine and neuter. Everything that he, she and it can ever want... a deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavoured, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love."

      Norton doesn't comprehend the similarity to typing. Once you learn to type you don't think about what keys you're hitting, nor do you have any real trouble doing it fast if you really practice that aspect of it; it just happens due to muscle memory.

    Once you understand that piano keys are just the same repeating notes in different octaves, it's not that hard to know where your fingers are supposed to land

    I got a random screener for this movie before I even knew what it really was, I popped it in one night, and my girlfriend and I were absolutely enthralled. It's such a great movie but I do understand distributors worrying about it being "too gay" because it is really gay, as good as it is, but they still made a giant mistake by not banking on it. It's a Best Picture worthy nominee and Douglas and Damon were absolutely fantastic. Lowe was also hilariously good.

    Jim is so annoying in these sometime, I mean the guy is into old heavy metal but can't fathom hitting the right keys on a piano? He;s into Ozzy, Randy Rhoads must make him pass out if he's this impressed by Liberace. RIP Randy Rhoads.

    • @NxDoyle
      @NxDoyle 6 років тому +4

      Not all fans of music understand how music is played. Even Anthony, who has some musical knowledge, mistakenly calls the blacks keys on the piano "minor", when there is no such thing as minor notes. There are minor _chords_ and minor _keys_ but no minor notes. Black keys are sharps/flats.

    • @Doomreb
      @Doomreb 6 років тому

      Nx Doyle, That's more on the technical side but I hear you. I used to play guitar a lot but never learned to read music, only tabs. He has to be exaggerating, I mean I can hear a crazy cello or classical guitar piece and I'm not gonna be like but how he move his fingers? How does he do that?? lol I know it's talent on another level but I can still wrap my mind around it you know what I mean?

    • @citypopFM
      @citypopFM 3 роки тому +1

      I don't know why people are harping on Jimmy for this, I always figured he was being sarcastic. The way he rhetorically asked how the black keys do nothing and you don't have to be exact when hitting the keys was clearly to be funny, probably channeling Chip, and making commentary at how amazing Liberace was when he played. No matter what, Liberace was still a genius piano player and showman.
      Ant knows music but he's a singer and probably never played piano in his life. I don't think Ant even knows an instrument so that's a forgivable mistake. I grew up playing multiple instruments so I'd know but Ant is also a way better singer than I could be.
